Always in the news for provocative actions, the curiosity among the people worldwide has increased manifold in knowing more about the life of North Koreans in the recent times.

After the death of the second Kim, his son, the Third Kim has been doing some nasty actions enough to make the officers at the Pentagon to point their guns at him. Armed with the World’s Fourth largest army, and an evergreen hate for the Imperialist Aggressors of the West, a.k.a. The USA, North Korea is seriously contemplating the start of the Third World War.

It is estimated that Seoul in South Korea would be run over in 15 minutes or less, if North Korea decides the offensive. With missiles being placed in direction of Japan, USA and South Korea, along with successful rocket testing technologies, They have sure warmed up the air on the planet, a century after the First World War.

Sadly, The North Koreans live the most pitiable life, and they don’t even know about that.

If they are so powerful, whats life like in North Korea? That’s the most curious question and sadly, its not a bed of roses. DPRK is one of the poorest nations in the world and with recurring famines, rumours of cannibalism have also come out. They don’t have profitable active trade relations with anyone and there’s no communication with the outside world. They only have a intranet which brags about the greatness of the Supreme Leaders, the trio of Kims.

Everybody has to love, respect and sing praises for Kim. Their dictator is the greatest in the world, and everyone else is a moron. All Americans are perceived as devils and this propaganda is rubbed on kids from birth, which essentially creates the Zombie Land, which we now call as the Democratic People’s republic of North Korea.

What’s it like to travel in this queer nation of Zombies?

Its quite adventurous to even think of travelling to North Korea, but Shane Smith of Vice Media, a popular documentary video Channel on Youtube did make an attempt to travel to DPRK. He secretly filmed his travel, and risked his life in every moment of his travel.

His travel is documented in Three parts, but we joined them all into a single video.

Discussions relating to India and Pakistan always evoke massive interest, arch-rivalry being the obvious cause, and also because people on both sides of the border are essentially the same, except being fed different propaganda by their governments.

With such a scenario, it has always been exciting to know more about the interests, likes and tastes of people from both the countries. Maybe that wasn’t possible during the Pre-90′s but with technology, internet and Google at our disposal, it’s extremely easy to connect and dig more information about the people.

Well, as I mentioned in my previous article about having fun with Google Instant, I used Google instant on both the Indian and Pakistani Google websites to see what they looked out the most in Alphabetical Order. I expected different items for each, but surprisingly, people on both sides seem to love few things in real earnest and equally hate each other in few categories.

Here is a list of what really popped out of my quest :

I know very well that using Google Instant isn’t that perfect method to analyse such things, but it does give a general idea of what’s really keeping the people of that country hooked to the internet.

Now, Coming to my quest, What do we get to see for both? Strangely, I isn’t India in Pakistani search or neither P is Pakistan in Indian search. An indicator of change in times, likely.

In a quick glance, we can see that the Religion of Cricket binds both the countries like a endemic. People on both sides hate the other team equally or more than their love for own National Cricket teams, and Cricinfo stands to gains the most of this rivalry. Indians and Pakistanis seem to keep searching for livecricket like a disease. Sometimes it makes me wonder, are these the same people, who parted ways 6 decades ago on religious lines, have now made Cricket as their main religion.

Any layman in both India and Pakistan knows that apart from Cricket, Cinema is the other drug that keeps them running. Unfortunately, all the entertainment content seems to be made by Indian Film industries and with full sincerity, pirated via Pakistani websites. People on both sides seem to make their trip to Songs.Pk for downloading Indian/Pakistani music for free. Actually, it’s the only site that updates its inventory quite regularly than the brick and mortar stores themselves.

One more stark observation is the usual search for proxy in Pakistan. It’s Civilian Monarchy can be the reason to blame for that, with frequent blocking of popular websites and services which would enlighten their people or create chaos in the country. India, relatively fares much better with no web restrictions of any kind, a web paradise of sorts.

Indians seem to hate IRCTC more than Pakistan nowadays. Improvement or Change in times?

Mobile Phones are another things that have recently occupied these countries, with local handset makers sprouting by the dozens. Micromax in India and Qmobile in Pakistan are the most searched ones, and apart from these, Techblogs, numbering in thousands are springing up from India and Pakistan everyday, with nearly repetitive content in all, vying to get the attention of the netizens eye.

Dainik Jagran and Daily Jang are some of the most searched dailies on internet from India and Pakistan. Times of India also features notably on the search despite it’s news being criticized by many as being below par in journalism standards.

If restricted web is the trouble in Pakistan, India suffers with its Railway System giving some worst time to it’s consumers. Indian railways allows people to book tickets online using IRCTC, but the service nearly stays down most of the time during booking. Railways are the only affordable means of travel in a massive nation like India but in reality, booking a ticket on IRCTC is like winning a lottery. With crappy booking systems and under powered servers, Indians now seem to hate IRCTC more than Pakistan.

Well, one can see and analyse other results from the table as per their understanding, but on an overall, Indian and Pakistan searches are really quite weird, amusing and entertaining too. Have fun. Stay Updated.

Everybody knows about Google Instant, even if you aren’t aware of it by its name, its the first thing you will observe while you use Google search. If you haven’t got it by now, Its the search enhancement to regular Google search where you get to see results as you type the terms.

Google Instant basically helps you search faster with predictive inputs using the previous search analysis of people doing search from across the world. It proves to be highly useful when you don’t have any idea of the terms you need to enter for your search, helping you reach your search destination quicker.

Apart from aiding in individual search, Google instant helps you see the most commonly searched terms for every country. Since Google has a local version of itself for every country, one can open up their sites, and type relevant keywords to check what really obsesses that Nation the most.

A better way is to type single alphabets and check what the most searched items are for a country to get a quick overview of what the netizens of those lands favor the most. I have made a list of these results for few countries, which I would publish in my next post, the results of which were quite fascinating and amusing too.

For those that take an instant dislike to this new feature, there is the option to turn off Google Instant and return to the more traditional search method. Next to the search bar there will be verification that Instant is turned on. Click on this link and you will have the choice to turn the feature off.

Google Instant does employ some safeguard measures. This means that certain words will not trigger real-time results, or alternative search options. These words include anything connected with ‘pornography, violence, or hate-speech’. If you type a letter into the search bar in the middle of the Google home page, the real-time results begin to be displayed and the search bar moves to the top of the browser window. For those that enjoy using the ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ function, this may cause some concern as that button then disappears. But fear not, you can use the right arrow on your keyboard to active the ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ function once Instant has started displaying real-time search results.

It is tempting to think that in the history of the evolution of the computer, the laptop (or at least the laptop accessed through a trackpad and keyboard) will be a mere stepping stone on the road to touchscreen/tablet dominance. This stance would fit with our general view of technological progress – whereby the latest innovation replaces all that came before it, effortlessly rendering the previous generation a hopeless anachronism. In reality though, the laptop and the tablet are now crossbreeding, engaged in a symbiotic relationship that has all but erased the previously solid dividing line between them.

Perhaps the most eye-catching form that this new relationship has taken is the series of new laptops that can be switched from conventional laptop to tablet at will, and that are known as convertibles. This new range is exemplified by the Lenovo Yoga, a convertible that was launched with a dramatic TV ad that sought to mimic the frenetic chase sequences from espionage films, a bold move that showed real intent to cement the convertible as an important new entry into the list of must have gadgets.

Perhaps more significant for the future of the laptop/tablet relationship, though, is Windows 8. The latest iteration of the operating system that has dominated the computer world for decades is now optimized for touchscreens, while still being compatible with the traditional laptops and PCs that are its spiritual home. Moreover, the promotional materials for Surface, Microsoft’s tablet, have highlighted the device’s detachable keyboard, something which has left some commentators questioning whether the Surface is a tablet, or just a laptop that has been amputated at the join between screen and keyboard.

Of course, the use of a conventional keyboard with a tablet is not in itself revolutionary, with the majority of tablets that have been released thus far being compatible with wireless Bluetooth keyboards for those users who simply can’t get used to a virtual onscreen keyboard or who do a lot of typing on a regular basis. The decision to portray a detachable keyboard as an intrinsic part of a tablet is, however, important, as it suggests that the PC/laptop architecture that we thought we had left behind in the age of the tablet (specifically, the keyboard), may still have an important role to play in our computational future.

It remains to be seen whether the prediction in the opening paragraph will come true, whether the tablet will wipe away the conventional laptop. One thing seems to be clear, though – if the launch of convertibles, Windows 8, and the Surface tablet are anything to go by, the laptop won’t go away without a fight. And, the laptop is determined to leave its mark on the evolution of the tablet.

Sharing money among friends isn’t uncommon, but keeping track of all those pennies and little amounts is rather tricky and many times, irksome too. You could neither ask your money directly, nor remember the exact amounts properly.

It is at this juncture that Billpin comes to your rescue.

Billpin helps you keep a track of all the money that you have given/owe among your friends.

Recently, I had been to Jaisalmer and Jodhpur on a leisure trip with 8 of my friends and we did face a hard time keeping track of the money being shared and who owed whom and how much. Among friends, it does seem absurd while asking money, but maybe a virtual way of asking might really be much better than physical requests.

The App is free to download, works on both Android and iOS, and is quite simple to use. It first sync’s your address book, and uses facebook to tag your friends onto the bills. It’s not necessary that your friend needs to have the app on their mobile.

Your friend, will automatically get the message, and most probably (have to, because you asked) download the app and would transfer the amount into your hands.).

Its a new startup, and so, doesn’t feature any ads as well.

The front page of the app shows the ongoing tally of money a user is owed by friends, and the amount that they owe others, with a specific breakdown of the cost recent items loaded. Clicking on an individual bill pulls up its details — including friends that are tagged, total cost, location (if available) and more.

Since this app works on a mutual pact among friends, don’t think of dragging your friends to courts for pending payments using Billpin, since billpin helps maintain accounts but isn’t legally binding.

Well, I do not certainly know if any competitive apps do exist for this kind of task, but this app does look promising. Simple layout, easy interface and handles the money transfer task quite easily. Quite appreciable.

Adbrite, one of the leading internet advertising companies that offered services rivaling those of Adsense and Yahoo have finally decided to shut shop. They have sent out emails to all their publishers stating their inability to continue operations from Feb 1 ,2013.

This is the excerpt of the mail received by its users :
Dear adBrite Publisher,

Over the last few weeks, adBrite and its management have been evaluating the go-forward plan for the business. Given market conditions and certain financial liabilities, in working with our lenders, we have decided to cease operations on Feb 1, 2013.

This is a difficult decision for all of us at adBrite. However, after much deliberation this seems to be the best course of action despite the impact it will have on all the employees, clients and partners who helped build this business. There will be a team in place as needed to assist with winding down.
Thank you for being part of the adBrite community.

The adBrite Team

Adbrite has come under intense criticism in the recent months with failing payments and extremely low payouts. I had been running a adbrite ad from past few weeks and it couldn’t make a single dollar, and it went unnoticed from my view too. well, Internet Advertisers are feeling extreme heat with falling number of advertisers and lower revenues, while bloggers have been on he rise, looking to monetize every piece of text on their website. Social Media Giants Facebook is taking away a major chunk of advertisers, promising more value for every penny spent, while Adsense has become stringent in issuing accounts, while cutting down on spam content using periodical Pagerank Algorithm updates.

Adbrite is headed by Hardeep Bindra, who heads the company of 26 employees, only to sell the company, the plans which went flat. The company was founded in 2002 as an ad network, and became an ad exchange in 2008. It raised more than $40 million in funding from Sequoia Capital and others.

Adbrite was never a great alternative, although it provided some relief by minting few cents in the spare. it’s time to move on guys.

Waze is a free navigation application for mobile devices that lets you to watch the real time situation on the roads, to drive the best routes and socialize with other drivers.

Waze works in close cooperation with drivers all around the world in order to create the first real time road map ever which will provide drivers with the information about latest changes in the situations on the roads. This will surely make everyday car trips easier and more pleasant.

Waze is a social application for mobile devices. It includes constantly updated road map, alerts about traffic jams and road accidents, and also data from drivers for choosing the best route to your destination point.

The data about traffic jams and situation on the road are automatically collected and processed while a driver simply drives with a Waze turned on. Any user can add some useful information about the current situation on the roads: from traffic jams and accidents to discounts on certain gas stations. As most of the information for Waze is provided by regular users, the app is absolutely free for download.

On the official Waze site you can take a look on the situation on the roads. By downloading the app on your mobile device, you’ll see the same but will be able to add fresh changes to a map. Surely, any navigator will provide you with a route to your destination. But in Waze you have an opportunity to choose the fastest or the shortest way you need. Apart from that, you’ll see possible obstacles on your route. The program also remembers your most used routes and offers them when you start driving.

The app is available both for iOS, Android.

And the last thing to add about this program – the more people use it, the more accurate are the routes.

The Year 2012 was a really satisfactory one. Knolzone, in February was once, a dying blog which has been revived to a visitor thumping blog with a steady growth base over the months.

We are pleased to announce the start of Knolzone Tech, a blog dedicated entirely for the gadget stuff with specs, reviews, analysis and prices. Our Native Price Index Apps and pages will help you get the best deals on Gadgets in India. Stay tuned for more.

It isn’t the regular American styled blog, but is a perfect desi-blog that we want to offer to Indians. Indian blogosphere is filled with thousands of blogs posting away analysis on a regular basis, but Knolzone Tech isn’t going to be the run of the mill blog, but we wanted a offer Indians/Asians, a more better approach and analysis towards gadgets.

Visit: Knolzone Tech, The exclusive Gadget Blog from Knolzone Inc.

Our Main blog had been cluttering up with Gadget news and other useful articles and the time came up for setting up a new blog to divide time and space for both the categories. Tech spaces are highly watched and people eagerly look forward for them during the launch of any new gadget into the markets.

India, unlike the nineties has been seeing a rather phenomenal growth in the consumption of Mobile electronic devices, and with markets being flooding up with shiny new devices everyday, the act of making a wise choice has been growing more difficult than ever. More than 70% of Indian population, have been scouring the Internet to find about devices that enter the market before buying for real.

This intricate analysis is only found among Indians and is the primary reason for the existence of thousands of techblogs in the Indian Blogosphere.

Knolzone Tech will not be having its own Newsletter, but a consolidated newsletter for all our Three Services will now be delivered as one. Catch up updates on Tech from the Social pages of Knolzone Tech on their official Facebook page or Subscribe to the feeds for more.

Following the demise of Feedburner API from October 2012, non-nerdy bloggers seem to gone into a sort of frenzy with many of them on the hunt for free alternatives to feedburner.

Check out our list of Free Feedburner Alternatives to use. It’s an old but updated article.

Feedburner isn’t dead, the basic service is still active. Only, there will be no new features added to it.

Even though API’s have been shut down recently, there have been a few persistently nagging problems at feedburner. The subscriber counts and other stats seem to go awry at times and caused headaches to bloggers.

Supplying the native feed URL is sometimes much better than syndicating it via Feed services, but the final choice rests upon bloggers.

What is the best Solution to escape such situations in future?

Though we have given you an updated list of alternatives to feedburner, there is no guarantee of other feed services going dead in the future.

Many bloggers have started shifting Subscribers from RSS to Email based subscriptions, by sending updates to all subscribers via email. This is a good method, but people using RSS readers would still love to get their feeds into their reader and not into their email inboxes. Know all about RSS and feeds and the way to read them, if you aren’t following this talk.

Shifting all of your subscribers to email can definitely make your work easier, and it’s a way much gorgeous too. You can easily design specific newsletters and mail them at your leisure. You could just provide your native feed URL to interested users and forget all about syndicating feeds. So, the final decision rests upon the blogger to decide.

We would be publishing a list of free RSS to Email services and other good, native email newsletter managers in our coming articles for the convenience of our readers

Knolzone hasn’t firmly decided about its subscription channels. Currently, we burn our feeds via Feedburner, and also offer email Weekly Newsletter Service. We have had a similar growth in subscribers in both channels and we hadn’t removed any of our channels. Our twitter channel stays a little neglected but our Facebook page receives great response by each passing day.

Do Change your RSS Syndicator to some other free alternatives to feedburner, and do express any concern regarding the same in the comments below.
