For those of you who bought your iPhones to help get your lives organized and free yourselves from the ball and chain of desktop computing, iPhone at Work: Productivity for Professionals is the book to show you how.

There are plenty of general-purpose iPhone guides, but iPhone at Work: Productivity for Professionals shows you how to complete all the traditional smartphone tasks, like to-do lists, calendars, and e-mail, and become much more efficient and productive at work. You’ll learn mechanisms for developing effective workflows specific to the features of the iPhone and also efficient strategies for dealing with the specialized aspects of business and professional lifestyles.

From the introduction and throughout the book, author Ryan Faas targets professional users of the iPhone. You’ll tour the built-in applications and configuration options, always with work and productivity in mind, and discover all of the enterprise features of the iPhone, learning how to configure and use each one.

Then discover the App Store: source of all third-party software. There’s something a bit daunting about the dominance of games and frivolous apps on the best-seller lists, but there are serious business and vertical applications also available, and you’ll learn about some of the best and how to take advantage of this wealth of add-on and very professional functionality.

And for those administrators with the special job of deploying lots of new iPhones across the enterprise, this book concludes with two appendixes that provide information and resources for companies. The first is intended for organizations looking to perform larger-scale iPhone or iPod touch deployments complete with device management. The second is geared for those companies that wish to develop an iPhone platform–oriented infrastructure through the use of customized in-house applications and iPhone/iPod touch–specific web services.

Today, most developers acknowledge the benefits of unit testing and rely on the increasingly sophisticated tools now available. The recently released JUnit 4.5 represents the state of the art in unit testing frameworks, and provides significant new features to improve the Java development process.

JUnit in Action, Second Edition is an up-to-date guide to unit testing Java applications (including Java EE applications) using the JUnit framework and its extensions. This book provides techniques for solving real-world problems such as testing AJAX applications, using mocks to achieve testing isolation, in-container testing for Java EE and database applications, and test automation.

Written to help readers exploit JUnit 4.5, the book covers recent innovations such as the new annotations that simplify test writing, improved exception handling, and the new assertion methods. You’ll also discover how to use JUnit extensions to test new application styles and frameworks including Ajax, OSGi, and HTML-based presentation layers.

Using a sample-driven approach, various unit testing strategies are covered, such as how to unit test EJBs, database applications, and web applications. Also addressed are testing strategies using freely available open source frameworks and tools, and how to unit test in isolation with Mock Objects. The book will also bring you up to speed on the latest thinking in TDD, BDD, Continuous Integration, and other practices related to unit testing.

Product Description
Need to learn statistics as part of your job, or want some help passing a statistics course? Statistics in a Nutshell is a clear and concise introduction and reference that’s perfect for anyone with no previous background in the subject. This book gives you a solid understanding of statistics without being too simple, yet without the numbing complexity of most college texts.
You get a firm grasp of the fundamentals and a hands-on understanding of how to apply them before moving on to the more advanced material that follows. Each chapter presents you with easy-to-follow descriptions illustrated by graphics, formulas, and plenty of solved examples. Before you know it, you’ll learn to apply statistical reasoning and statistical techniques, from basic concepts of probability and hypothesis testing to multivariate analysis.

Organized into four distinct sections, Statistics in a Nutshell offers you:

Introductory material:

Different ways to think about statistics

Basic concepts of measurement and probability theory

Data management for statistical analysis

Research design and experimental design

How to critique statistics presented by others

Basic inferential statistics:

Basic concepts of inferential statistics

The concept of correlation, when it is and is not an appropriate measure of association

Dichotomous and categorical data

The distinction between parametric and nonparametric statistics

Advanced inferential techniques:

The General Linear Model

Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and MANOVA

Multiple linear regression

Specialized techniques:

Business and quality improvement statistics

Medical and public health statistics

Educational and psychological statistics

Unlike many introductory books on the subject, Statistics in a Nutshell doesn’t omit important material in an effort to dumb it down. And this book is far more practical than most college texts, which tend to over-emphasize calculation without teaching you when and how to apply different statistical tests.

With Statistics in a Nutshell, you learn how to perform most common statistical analyses, and understand statistical techniques presented in research articles. If you need to know how to use a wide range of statistical techniques without getting in over your head, this is the book you want.

These interactions are classified as B2C (business to consumer), B2B (business to business) and C2C (consumer to consumer) creating ever growing forms of Internet connectedness.

This connectedness enables a vast range of self-service opportunities via the Internet. Self-Service in the Internet Age explores attitudes and behaviors to this new form of self-service provision. It focuses on how services are used and viewed by those who choose to use or not use them in a variety of contexts such as personal banking, shopping, travel, education, and health.

Product Description

While their basic principles and ideas are well understood and cogent from a conceptual perspective, the realization of interorganizational workflows and applications based on service-oriented architectures (SOAs) remains a complex task, and, especially when it comes to security, the implementation is still bound to low-level technical knowledge and hence inherently error-prone.

Hafner and Breu set a different focus. Based on the paradigm of model-driven security, they show how to systematically design and realize security-critical applications for SOAs. In their presentation, they first detail how systems and security engineering go hand in hand and are integrated from the very start in the requirements elicitation and the design phase. In a second step, they apply the principles of model-driven security to SOAs. Model-driven security is an engineering paradigm that aims at the automatic generation of security-critical executable software for target architectures. Based on the general principles of model-driven software development, the automation of security engineering through proven and reliable mechanisms guarantees correctness and facilitates an agile and flexible approach to the implementation and high-level management of security-critical systems.

Their book addresses IT professionals interested in the design and realization of modern security-critical applications. It presents a synthesis of various best practices, standards and technologies from model-driven software development, security engineering, and SOAs. As a reader, you will learn how to design and realize SOA security using the framework of an extensible domain architecture for model-driven security.
