Apart from sharing these memories in small numbers using email and MMS there are some other easy ways to treasure and share these moments of our lives.  Not only you can share what you have on your phone but also can access what you have in your online libraries.

For iPhone users it becomes even easier because of over 100,000 apps in Apple iTunes store.  Out of these thousands of apps, I have hand-picked the following 10 FREE iPhone apps that makes it amazingly simple to access, capture and share memories with your family and friends.  Some of these apps are multi-purpose applications that let you do other stuff as well.  So without further ado, here they are the 10 Great iPhone Apps of 2009 to share images:

1. Flickr: Flickr has its own iPhone app that lets you quickly browse your online library or upload images from your Camera roll to Flickr account. It is really fun watching the effects on the home screen of the Flickr app. (iTunes Link)
   
2. Photobucket: Photobucket is another popular image sharing service.  You can quickly search, browse and upload images from your iPhone to a Photobucket account.  The App will also let you access all the images in your Photobucket library online so that you are never far from your favorite photos.  A Free Photobucket account gives you 500MB of space and 10GB of monthly bandwidth. 3. Nikon my Picturetown: Nikon my Picturetown gives you 2GB of FREE space to upload and share your photos. my Picturetown keeps the EXIF data of your images too. (iTunes Link)

Shutterfly: Shutterfly provides you unlimited online space for your memories and the surety that the files will never be deleted.  The pictures are stored in full resolution.  After uploading your photos on Shutterfly, you can share them with your friends or use them to create photo books, card, calendars and other photo items. Photon: An iPhone app from Phanfare that lets you securely store all your memories in the cloud and access them on your iPhone with musical slideshows and editing tools.  After coming out of Beta, Phanfare has become a subscription based service, so unless you have a beta account, you will have to pay for the subscription.  Though the iPhone app is FREE. Pixelpipe: Pixelpipe (as we have covered multiple times on Knowliz) iPhone app lets capture, share and upload images to ever increasing array of services simultaneously.  If you use this app, then you won’t really need any other photo sharing app on your iPhone as you can upload images to over 100 destinations in one go.  Check out my previous review about Pixelpipe to learn more.    Social Networking Apps:

   Below mentioned apps are in fact Social networking apps.  But since they are immensely popular so most of the time people end up either sharing photos to their Facebook friends or upload them to their Tumblr and Posterous blogs.  So it makes sense to use these apps for sharing your photos on these services only.  Besides sharing photos, you can do various other activities like updating your status, create blog post or share them on twitter etc.

Special Tip: Do you know you can capture anything quickly on your iPhone screen by simply pressing Home and Power button combination?  The capture is saved in your camera roll.  (Most of the images in this article are captured the same way.)

1. Ustream.tv: Ustream is the live interactive video broadcast platform that enables anyone with a camera and an Internet connection to quickly and easily broadcast to a global audience of unlimited size.  Attract and build your own brand by creating an account, a channel and a topic for your broadcast.  You can link your Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and other networks with Ustream.
   With the latest iPhone app, Ustream Live Broadcaster, it becomes even more accessible to more users even for iPhone 3G users.
2. Livestream (formerly Mogulus): Livestream is another platform that enables you to quickly broadcast to a global audience.  The desktop app Procaster is really a must have to give cool effects to your broadcasts.  If you want to create something like you see on television, then Livestream is the service you would want to try.
3. Qik: Qik is relatively small player as compared to Ustream and Justin.tv.  Qik is one of the favorite services on Knowliz.  If you have ever used a webcam to talk to your family and friends then you can use qik the same way.  Extremely easy to use, fast, reliable and with a multitude of options to link your various networks.  Qik iPhone broadcaster app is still pending to be approved by Apple.  But if you have a jailbroken iPhone, then you can install it from Cydia now. Qik iPhone app called ‘Qik Live’ is now available in Apple iTunes Store. 4. Justin.tv: Justin.tv is another service that lets you broadcast easily through webcam or mobile phones.  Surprisingly there is no iPhone app is yet available for Justin.tv though the service seems to very popular and appears second after Ustream.tv in popularity.
5. Bambuser:  We covered Bambuser yesterday when their iPhone app went live in iTunes store.  Check out our review for complete details.  It is a relatively new service and hence very less users currently know about it.  Their iPhone app is worth trying though.
6. Flixwagon: Flixwagon is a similar service though it is apparently not known to many users and the mainstream media.  The service is apparently being used for casual video sharing with family and friends.  You can use it on a jailbroken iPhone through Cydia.  With Flixwagon, you can broadcast live video from your phone to the web, keep videos for later, stream to your blog, notify your friends and more.

You will be surprised that Bambuser works seamlessly on an iPhone 3G considering the fact that 3G phones doesn’t have video recording capability. Though I have been using qik for almost a year on my jailbroken iPhone.  So looks like Apple is convinced by the fact that any iPhone has video recording capability and that’s why approved this app finally.

Another similar app which was approved recently by Apple is Ustream Live Broadcaster (iTunes Link).  This app also used to work earlier on jailbroken iPhone 3G but now is officially available from iTunes Store.

I guess iPhone 3G users may not need to jailbreak their phones if the only thing they wanted was the live broadcasting apps from qik and Flixwagon.  Because now they are officially available from iTunes.  However qik live broadcasting app is still in the process of being approved by Apple which should be in the iTunes store soon.  Qik iPhone app called Qik Live is now available in iTunes Store. After initial account setup, you can add your other social profiles like Twitter, Facebook and Youtube etc. so that your live videos are uploaded and shared on all these linked services automatically as soon as you go live.

My fellow iPhone friends, if you want to live stream from your iPhone 3G’s and 3GS’s, then give Bambuser (iTunes Link) or Ustream broadcaster a try. You have no reason to buy an iPhone 3GS also just because of video recording capability.  Check out our guide to live streaming apps for iPhone.

1. Goo.gl Shortener – Just shortens any URL with goo.gl and gives you the shortened link that you can copy and paste in any application.
2. Goo.gl shortener + Share on Twitter – lets you shorten and tweet in one click.  The URL can also be copied on the clipboard.
   

Please note these are not official extensions from Google.  Though I am sure Google may release a similar facility as part of toolbar or through another extension in near future.  But for now, if you are a fan of Goo.gl URL shortener as we mentioned earlier, then these two extensions are worth giving a try. The most important activity for any blogger is to learn how to promote his/her blog.  “Content is King” but what if no one reads it or the worst no one knows it exist.  There are various techniques besides SEO that can help you promote your blog.  But in this post we will learn how to promote a blog using Slideshare:

Most of the bloggers use Slideshare, Google Docs, Scribd and Zoho etc. to share occasional documents with their blog readers.  But will not it be good to use these services to promote your blog.  Here are some tips on how to boost your blog traffic with SlideShare:

1. Complete your profile details: Make sure you fill in your blog URL on Slideshare profile page.  When someone likes your presentation, they would love to check out who you are and may eventually visit your blog.
2. Share Best Posts on Slideshare: Occasionally you can upload and share your top posts on Slideshare by converting them into a document.  That way you will get extra exposure through slideshare.
3. Create and use presentation themes: Try to create a common presentation theme that is consistent in all presentations you share on Slideshare.  People visiting your documents will relate to you and your blog when they see something common in all your presentations.  Most importantly, use your blog logo while creating the theme and add URL wherever possible.
4. End Notes: It is generally beneficial to add a last slide with your contact details along with blog URL.  If someone like they can learn more about you and your blog.  Make it easier for them to reach you.
5. Promote others: Blog promotion should not be a one sided game.  You can’t receive anything in return unless you give it first.  You will soon sound boring if you always talk about yourself.  Make it a habit to promote others’ presentation on Slideshare using social media.  Give them a reason to know you when you tweet and share their content on various social networks.  If possible, blog about others presentations, favorite and comment on them.
6. Connect with others: When you are at Slideshare, don’t just keep checking your stats.  Rather connect with others who have promoted your documents.  Join the groups your documents are part of.  This way you will connect with smart authors, leaders and other interesting people.  You can built a good following for your blog just by connecting with these people.
7. Reciprocate: When someone adds you or your presentation as favorite, visit them and reciprocate.  And why someone has to be first to initiate that cycle.  Go visit other popular presentations and be the first to comment, share and add them as a contact on Slideshare.  When you add someone as friend on any social network, there is a tendency to reciprocate.

I am sure you got the idea of it to make yourself a better Slidesharer.  The key is, “You got to promote others to promote yourself.”  Give others a reason to connect with you and learn more about you and your blog.  Slowly you will start seeing the results.  Initially you might have to work really hard, but slowly that will become an habit and the entire process will work by itself.

That’s why Comcast today launched its own version of Hulu – Fancast Xfinity.  If you are a Comcast internet or TV subscriber, then just login with your Comcast email address and password to access all the content based on your subscription.  To access some premium content like HBO and all you will have to upgrade to Premium level.  If you are not a premium subscriber, then you will see a “KEY” icon on the content not available to you.  Rest everything you can watch online…

But now, you are free to watch your favorite show when you want it.  If you missed your favorite episode because of the party at friends house, well, now you can still watch it on Fancast. Check out other places you can watch FREE movies and full episodes.

The Fancast site has loads of full length shows, movies and other content.  So think of it as a web version of On Demand TV service.  Just connect your laptop to HDTV and watch high quality shows from Fancast.  Let us know if you need help in connecting your laptop to TV.

Most of these live videos are short (1 to 2 minute average), and if you’re sending them out over a service like Twitter, because of the slow API most of the people will only see the recording, not the live video.  This is obviously a problem for something which is created for Live streaming. So Qik came up with a faster solution – Qik-in-Touch.

Qik-in-Touch is a desktop application that runs on Adobe Air. Once you start this app, it resides in the background until one of your Qik contacts starts recording a live video. When that happens, Qik-in-Touch pops up on your screen to show you the video as it’s happening live. It’s a much more direct, and more importantly, faster way of connecting you with live Qik videos.

The application, which is in private beta, also allows you to easily favorite videos, browse your own videos, and watch other live videos happening around the web with QikTV. And this app requires no new mobile software of any kind — it will work with all the existing mobile clients just as they are. The only difference will be in your viewing experience, through the Air app rather than the website.

We at Knowliz have given Qik-in-touch a quick spin.  Being in early beta, it obviously needs some polishing, but the overall experience is really good.  The videos load fast, you can view them full screen, chat with your contacts right on the video.  Once all your contacts and family members have Qik-in-touch, you would no longer need to share live video URLs because as soon as you start broadcasting, they will see a pop-up to view it.  You can also watch other Qik videos from QikTV and your contacts.  Since it is an Adobe Air app so it works with Windows, Mac and Linux.

Currently you can socialize only with Twitter but I am sure Google will be adding other services too, at least Facebook and Orkut.  That will rule out any need for a third party service like Twitterfeed and Su.pr etc, which most of the bloggers have been using to broadcast their blog posts on Twitter and other social networks automatically.

After authorizing your Twitter account with Feedburner, your blog posts will be shared on Twitter as soon as you publish them.  Thanks to PubSubHubHub technology to provide real time updates to Feedburner.  Google uses its own URL shortener “goo.gl” to send tweets.  That also became live today only.  That’s why I said, “An Early Christmas gift from Google.”

The benefit of using Feedburner Socialize feature over Twitterfeed and other services is the ability to manage everything from one service where you manage your blog feed.  Other than that is the reliability of both, the social feature as well as the URL shortener “goo.gl”.  None of them is going to vanish in near future.  I would really love the ability to use multiple Twitter accounts and other social networks.
