Now you can get an address proof along with your photo from India post. Since the ID proof is issued by India post which is a Central Government organization, it is similar to other ID cards like Driving license, Voters ID etc. It can be used for opening bank accounts, for getting telephone and gas connections etc.

The total cost for getting this ID card is Rs.250/ (Rs.10 for application and Rs.240/- processing fee). Do inform everybody. This is very useful. For more details enquire in the nearest post office.

Tigerstyle are a Scottish bhangra group from Glasgow from a British Punjabi background. They are made up of two brothers, Raj and Pops, trained in classical tabla, gurmat sangeet and various forms ofPunjabi folk music and instrumentation. Coming from a traditional background where religious adherence was the call of the day and learning to play instruments from a young age so that they could perform at their local temple have now turned this young Sikh outfit into the most sought after act.Recently signed to Nachural Records (the label that launched Panjabi MC onto the world stage and into a global hit), Tigerstyle are now preparing their debut single and debut album for a worldwide release.

They started their music career in 1997 when as DJs they created Desi Bombsquad Sound System with the intent of nurturing the bhangra scene in Scotland as they felt it lagged behind the English bhangra scene.^[2] The name Tigerstyle is taken from the Tiger Style of Shaolin Kung Fu named after the tiger,^[3] with the brothers coming from a Sikh warrior background which has its own martial art, Gatka, and the name Singh meaning lion.^[1]

The brothers have released a number of singles and albums and also done official remixes for artists such as Lisa Maffia and Raghav. After a legal dispute with previous record companies, they signed to Nachural Records, the label that launched Panjabi MC.

Tigerstyle have toured all over the world and shared stages with the likes of Lily Allen, Dub Pistols, Misty in Roots, Talvin Singh , Nitin Sawhney , Gunjan, Asian Dub Foundation, Badmarsh & Shri, Truth Hurts, Panjabi MC, Future World Funk as well asBobby Friction and DJ Nihal on BBC Radio 1. Friction has said of Tigerstyle, "They are without doubt the next Asian/Bhangra act that will break through into the mainstream - it is only a question of time." On 28 October 2006 they performed on the BBC Electric Proms Asian Network gig.^[4]

In the second series of Britain's Got Talent on ITV1 in May 2008, the song used by dance act Signature in their audition and again in their performance in the final was Nachna Ondei Nei, a bhangra remix of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" and Queen andDavid Bowie's "Under Pressure" featuring Kaka Bhainiwala with covering vocals.Their Bollywood debut came in the shape of exclusive remixes of "Bas Ek Kinng" and "Bhootni Ke" under the guidance of hit music director Pritam, on the soundtrack of the blockbuster movie of summer 2008, Singh is Kinng.

Dynamic Testing !

Dynamic testing (or dynamic analysis) is a term used in software engineering to describe the testing of the dynamic behavior of code. That is, dynamic analysis refers to the examination of the physical response from the system to variables that are not constant and change with time. In dynamic testing the software must actually be compiled and run; Actually Dynamic Testing involves working with the software, giving input values and checking if the output is as expected. These are the Validation activities. Unit Tests, Integration Tests, System Tests and Acceptance Tests are few of the Dynamic Testing methodologies. Dynamic testing means testing based on specific test cases by execution of the test object or running programs.

Dynamic testing is used to test software through executing it. This is in contrast to Static testing.

Dynamic program analysis is the analysis of computer software that is performed by executing programs built from that software system on a real or virtual processor. For dynamic program analysis to be effective, the target program must be executed with sufficient test inputs to produce interesting behavior. Use of software testing techniques such as code coverage helps ensure that an adequate slice of the program's set of possible behaviors has been observed. Also, care must be taken to minimize the effect that instrumentation has on the execution (including temporal properties) of the target program.

Static Testing

Static testing is a form of software testing where the software isn't actually used. This is in contrast to dynamic testing. It is generally not detailed testing, but checks mainly for the sanity of the code, algorithm, or document. It is primarily syntax checking of the code and/or manually reviewing the code or document to find errors. This type of testing can be used by the developer who wrote the code, in isolation. Code reviews, inspections and walkthroughs are also used.

From the black box testing point of view, static testing involves reviewing requirements and specifications. This is done with an eye toward completeness or appropriateness for the task at hand. This is the verification portion of Verification and Validation.

Even static testing can be automated. A static testing test suite consists of programs to be analyzed by an interpreter or a compiler that asserts the programs syntactic validity.

Bugs discovered at this stage of development are less expensive to fix than later in the development cycle.^{[citation needed]}

The people involved in static testing are application developers, testers, and business analysis.

Karah Prashad - Sacred Pudding !

Karah Prashad is a sacred pudding made from equal parts of butter, sugar and flour which is prepared in the langar facility, and served during Gurdwara programs. A person preparing prashad is obligated to continually recite Sikh scripture such as: Gurmanter - Waheguru, the Sikh name for God. Mool manter - the opening verse of Guru Granth Sahib. Japji Sahib - the morning prayer of the Sikh. Two freshly washed steel, or iron, cooking pots and a stirring spoon are needed for the preparation of prashad. Set aside a steel or iron bowl (batta) to receive cooked prashad. Makes about 16 servings. View illustrated recipe. Cook Time: 15 minutes Ingredients: 1 cup ghee or 1/2 lb unsalted butter (2 cubes) 1 cup whole grain flour (atta) 1 cup sugar 3 cups water Continual recitation of Japji Sahib, Moolmanter or Gurmanter Preparation: Measure all ingredients. Waheguru. Add sugar to water and set in pot to boil. Ik Onkar. Melt ghee or unsalted butter in a pan. To clarify unsalted butter heat and skim off foamy curds and spoon out solids from bottom of pan. Sat Naam. Add whole grain flour (atta) to melted butter. Karta Purkh. Stir mixture continuously to lightly toast flour. Nirbhao. Continue stirring flour and butter mixture while sugar boils to make light syrup. Butter separates from toasted flour turning a deep golden color with a nutty aroma. Nirvair. Pour boiling sugar syrup into toasted flour and butter mixture. Mixture will sputter. Take care not to be scalded. Stir rapidly until all water is absorbed. Akal Moorit. Keep stirring prashad as it thickens into a firm pudding. Ajoonee. Completely cooked prashad slides easily from pan into a steel bowl or iron batta. Saibhang. Bless the prashad with ardaas.Touch cooled prashad with kirpan at the appropriate time during ardaasRemove five portions to commemorate five beloved panj payara and serve to five Sikhs. Distribute remaining prashad to sangat, members of the congregation. Gur Prashad.

Chakk De Phatte !

Chak De Phatte -though loosely translated as pick up the floorboards

is more of a war cry than a housekeeping call. The origins of the

phrase lie in the times when the Khalsa i.e. the original warrior

Sikhs were formed, they would cross canals and attack Mughal camps in

a blitzkrieg attack and then just as they came would retreat leaving

the enemy helpless. The sport of tent pegging also evolved from this

camp raiding where the riders would remove the pegs of the tents

trapping the occupants under, what then used to b a very heavy fabric.

While escaping back to their base the Khalsa warriors would dismantle

any temporary bridges constructed by them (made out of "Phatte") to

prevent the Mughals from chasing them and sometimes to prevent the

enemy from escaping, hence the cry "Chak De Phatte". The phrase then

acquired the meaning: to complete the route. And is now used as in the

figure of "Bring the house down!".

OutSourcing Akhand Path !

Many years ago, I happened to be in Nanded (Maharashtra) and went to Hazur Sahib gurdwara to pay homage to the Tenth Guru, Gobind Singh, who was assassinated there in 1708.

It is one of the most sacred of gurdwaras.

I came across something which baffled me.

There was a row of cabins separated by thin walls of plywood in which a dozen akhand paths (non-stop reading of the Guru Granth by a relay of paathees - readers) were being performed with no one listening to them.

I sought explanation from the head granthi (caretaker). He told me people from India and abroad sent money for akhand paths to be followed by Guru-ka-langar as thanksgiving or for wish fulfilment.

I could not comprehend how prayers recited by someone else could benefit a devotee who paid for them.

However, I found such practices more prevalent in other communities as well.

Hindus have havans (fire ceremonies) performed at distant places.

Muslims pay expenses to people going for Haj, hoping that benefits will accrue to them.

Even Mirza Ghalib pleaded with Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar to take him along on Haj and he would give his tswaab(benefit) to his majesty. However, the British did not allow the Mughal king to leave Delhi.

What came as a big surprise to me was to find that Europeans, Canadians and Indian Christians are also into outsourcing prayers. Well-to-do English, Canadians and Americans, who can't be bothered to go to church, paid for holy masses in euros or dollars, outsourcing religious rituals to Kerala Christian priests.

I read about it in the latest Private Eye of May 15. To wit: "The outsourcing of American and European jobs to low-wage countries like India has been happening for years", Archbishop Jacob Thoomkuzhy told reporters in Kerala, "and religious outsourcing is no different. Because of shortage of priests in the industrialised world, prayers for the dead and holy masses are being paid for by the westerners, then offshored to India".

"It is a lucrative business for churches in Kerala. Mass intentions that are paid for in dollars or euros are carried out here by local priests. The prayers are recited, and the fees paid by westerners help cash-starved parishes here. So what's the problem? " asked the Archbishop.

For example, when British newspapers whipped up a storm about David Beckham's affairs, a Beckham fan from London paid `A350 for a mass to save the soul of his hero.

The holy mass, however, was not held in a London parish.

It was outsourced by the church authorities to a Bishop in India, who passed it to a remote church at Anthikad in Thrissur diocese, where the mass took place.

"We do not want to look at this commercially, but it is a huge boost to the local religious economy here,'' said the Archbishop.

I don't think I cry easily ... not in a way that the tears flow unabated at least, and when two hands are too few to wipe the spontaneous outpouring. But it happened unexpectedly last weekend, when my teenage nephew had his dastaar bandhi ceremony, a day he chose to partake in the long-respected Sikh tradition of tying a turban for the first time, of affirming his resolve to continue doing what his father and grandfather and many generations before them had done, as a symbol of their Sikh identity. But what was it about the simple ceremony that had overwhelmed not just me, but many others present on the occasion? True, the paatth recitation had been meaningful and the kirtan was soul-stirring, but that was normal - that's how paatth and kirtan make you feel every single time. But soon after the ardas that day, having asked for the Almighty's blessings and approval for the ceremony, family members brought out a maroon turban, and tied it around the young man, sitting gracefully in front of the Guru Granth Sahib. Layer after layer, the turban was wrapped, and eyeful after eyeful, the tears flowed. What was it about the puggri that made us all so emotional? Was it the fact that this young man, born and brought up in Australia, had publicly affirmed a tradition that began centuries ago in a different continent? Was it a coming-of-age for him, and an acceptance of the burden of adulthood? Was it his public proclamation that from this day on, he chose to be a Sikh, over and above being born as a Sikh? Or was it that these five metres of plain voile cloth symbolized a proud history, and by reasserting its significance in the 21st century in far-off Australia, it reaffirmed our unique collective identity? Perhaps the answer is all of the above, and much more. For me, it was also a deeply personal reminder of the circle of life in synchronized motion - the infant who was only two months old when I became a part of my new family, was now old enough to hold the torch passed down to him and ready to lead the way! Generations ago, sons and daughters just adopted family traditions without pausing to question them. Customs, traditions and concepts, preserved as family heirlooms, were transferred down many generations without much dilution or alteration. But the modern times are different. Today's child needs to question everything - and needs a logical answer to everything, too. You can't give emotional reasons when they ask "Why do we wear a patka?" or "Why does Dad wear a puggri?" Decades ago, if a child dared to question anything, the doubt quickly evaporated when a family elder simply said: "Because that's how it is!" or "Because I said so!" Today's children do not acquiesce that easily. They want to know why this tradition is relevant in the modern context. That's why, as a mother of two boys aged ten and six (also born and living in Australia) who proudly sport a patka at all times, I frequently ask myself and others around me the same question, looking for a logical answer to give my children if they ever asked me. Another way to look at it is that if a child begins to question the concept of patka or puggri persistently, it might already be too late to stem the tide of doubt. Perhaps the best way is to pre-emptively talk of logical reasons along with the emotional ones, so the child not just accepts but appreciates his unique identity. Most of us usually begin by telling our little children that we keep unshorn hair and cover it with a patka or puggri "Because Guruji asked us to!" When they grow older, I've heard a mother tell her son, "Because it makes you an instant star - everybody at school recognizes you and knows your name!" My son confirms that when he tells me: "Even the substitute teachers coming in for a day remember my name after reading it once, even though they forget other people's names in class". Another mother told her son, "Because of your patka, I can spot you from a long distance - I don't think you can ever get lost, because I'll know your patka instantly, even from a mile away". True, the boys are labelled "melon head" or "egg head" at school, but if wasn't that, it would be "shorty" or "blackie" or "fatty" or some other epithet, because kids will be kids, and will always find something to pick on. A major part of growing up is learning to stand up for yourself and perhaps wearing a patka could even speed up that process. In fact, a youngster born and brought up in England once told me, "Since I wore a patka at school, I knew I was different and learnt that I didn't have to follow the others blindly in what they did. So, during my adolescence, when a lot of my friends had peer pressure to do drugs, drink alcohol and that stuff, I just knew I didn't have to follow them - I could get away with it, since I was already different". Now living in Australia, and a father of two himself, this youngster gave me a wonderful logical reason to wear a patka/puggri in the modern context! Taking his logic further, wearing a patka is excellent training for little children to dare to be different, to revel in their uniqueness, to make others accept who they are and to celebrate their identity. Perhaps, apart from according a "uniform" to the Sikhs, the unshorn hair and the covering it with a patka/puggri has a deeper logic, too - it keeps the followers disciplined by mandating an outward appearance that is non-negotiable. It extends the logic to personal life, as well, that certain principles and concepts enshrined in the faith are non-negotiable, too. It gives youngsters the moral courage to dare to be different (and proudly so) from an early age, and affords them an opportunity as young adults to publicly proclaim that they are willing to take the tradition forward, to accept its physical manifestation and its spiritual one. So, perhaps when my nephew had his dastaar bandhi last weekend, I was deeply touched by all the symbolism it represented. As I told him, it is perhaps the biggest gift a child can give his family - of putting his hand up to carry on the family tradition and trying to abide by all the spiritual significance it entails. Now, I look forward to not just my own two sons giving me a chance to revel in my tears, but also the sons of many other parents around the world, doing their best to keep this age-old tradition alive. I hope and pray for my nephew and others like him, that after being born as Sikhs, I hope they see the value in choosing to be Sikh and then, through their actions, prove to be the ultimate Sikhs. World's most powerful country has already seen a Sikh President Under the effect of dominant religions of each country, sikh beliefs & practices varies from country to country Rare to find people who can really talk about message of Guru Nanak Sikh's in Punjab are now a minority Sikh's by virtue to their actions & conduct transformed the world. And like true students of Guru Nanak they are now torchbearer's of this world Sikh's do not have identity crisis anymore. They don't have any identity anymore Who are Sikh's? With decades of illiteracy, factionism & materialism, sikh's are now hard to find.
