A Youtube video of Manami chan's "Sunny Day" single has been posted by user dualfeel. Manami plays "Kazue Fujiki" (�� b) in "Sweet Rain�@��_�̐��x" and is releasing the single as the character, who has her own official website.

Looks like Manami chan has been busy promoting her movie "Sweet Rain�@��_�̐��x" and single "Sunny Day" recently. Here is a message from Konitan on vibe and an interview with Manami chan from Countdown TFM.

Konitan's music video for "Sunny Day" has been posted on Yahoo! Japan apparently, but I can't tell because my IP address is blocked. Those of you residing in Japan or with enough know-how to mask your IP address will probably have better luck.

There's also a press conference with the cast from "Sweet Rain�@��_�̐��x" on Yahoo! which is also blocked for me, but fortunately, I think there's an alternate, non-nationalist version at MovieWalker, in additional to a full-length trailer.

Lionsgate Releasing US Version (R1) "Retribution"

Sweet Rain- ��_�̐��x

This deserved its own post. Manami-chan will be in a movie with Takeshi Kaneshiro called Sweet Rain - Shinigami no seido (��_�̐��x), premiering 3/22/08 in Japan. According to IMDB:

Kaneshiro plays a Grim Reaper who appears to his victims in human form and spends a week with them before deciding whether to off them or not.

Sweet.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Most recent Manami-chan news: she chopped her hair! For her role in a new drama, ��炫�猤�C�� (Kirakira Kenshuui), Ms. Konishi cut about 30cm (12") of hair. You can see how good she looks with short hair in this YouTube clip.

UDON Interview

So UDON, starring Manami-chan, premiered last month. There's an UDON "Variety Channel" with a video of a Konitan interview.

Nomura Securities has updated their commercials page with a fall version of their "Manami talking to a dog" series.

And Alfe has been and will be posting desktop calendars featuring Konitan every two months. Grab September/October while you can. (July/August: 1024x768 and 800x600)

Manami Konishi was in Cannes wo-manning the booth with the rest of the crew for her new film UDON, coming out on August 26th.

House Mate Desktops and CM

A new House Mate campaign's been posted with Manami-chan continuing her image-character duties. The "Anshin" campaign includes a new commercial, a couple of desktop pictures, and a screensaver. I've gone through the hoops so you can have direct links to the desktops and download the screensaver. Rhetorical question: do screens set to 800 x 600 still exist?

U-Can and Aldentino and DTI

We start 2006 with a new commercial at the U-Can website.

Next, we have the third installment of the web shorts at the Aldentino site. If you're having trouble viewing the streams with your connection speed, there is a handy tool called SDP (Win) which allows you to output *.asx streams as *.wmv files. Start SDP, click on "Open," and enter any of the following web addresses (movies 1-3 so far):

Manami on Cover of Ikkojin

Manami is the cover girl for the February, 2006 issue of Ikkojin (��l) magazine. The theme for this issue is "Is Writing Fun?" and they most likely interviewed and featured her because she has a book of essays to her credit. What a talent.

In other news, Erika Sawajiri (��K�G��J) is also starring in "Tenshi No Tamago" (�V�g�̗�) as Konitan's character's little sister, who is in love with Hayato Ichihara's (�s��l) character, who is in love with Konitan's character. Ah, triangular love. Erika's past roles have been in serious period pieces such as "Pacchigi!" (�p�b�`�M�I), "Ashurajo No Hitomi" (��C��̓�), and "Shinobi" (�E) so this will be a style change for her. They had just wrapped up shooting the climactic hospital scene near Kyoto.

The first one is up; the movies seem to incorporate the wagamama ("selfish") character from the commercials and the 100 seconds it takes to warm up a dish of of Nissin's Aldentino pasta.
