As a something special to remember Seattle by and a prelude to the July 25 relaunch of korijock.com and a city skyline mini-collection, this month’s Underwear of the Month Club’s print was inspired by Seattle’s skyline:

My husband Zac and I left Seattle Saturday to start a month-long road trip along the west coast and in the Southwest before heading to our new home just south of Detroit. We are super excited for the big change and so looking forward to spending a month visiting friends, family, and seeing 3 new-to-us National Parks. Boom!

Where in the world is LVEO? The one of the sunset & mountains is our last dinner in Seattle. It overlooks Puget Sound & the Olympic Mountains. The other is of the Pacific Ocean on the Oregon coast near Manzanita :)

It’s still mostly business as usual, with my dear friend Andrea (and La Vie en Orange’s first employee!) helping to ship orders while we’re on the road. I’ll also be posting sketches, photos, and teasers about the big korijock.com relaunch (taking place July 25) from the road and with Andrea’s help.

Sir Mix-a-Lot and I have so much in common. We’re both from Seattle (well, I’m from Michigan living in Seattle) and we both respect the booty.

Have you ever wondered or struggled with how to take your measurements? Well, you’re in luck! In this week’s video, my trusty dress form Lulubelle and I show you how!

Knowing your measurements can be super useful for when you’re figuring out what size Upitees you wear, or for any shopping online. Sizes can vary so much across different brands, but one thing that doesn’t change is a ruler :)

In All You Need to Be Impossibly French, author Helena Frith Powell devotes an entire chapter to the French and their lingerie. Because, apparently, as a whole, the French think about underwear a lot. Like me. And like you (you’re here, right?  :)).

Helena interviewed numerous Françaises about their unmentionables. They told her:

“It’s the first thing I put on so it determines my whole mood.” – Nathalie, 38, Paris

“If your underwear isn’t right, nothing else works.” – Chantal Thomass, Parisian lingerie designer

“Underwear sets the whole tone for the day. If I want to seduce, I wear a certain ensemble, if I am filming and have to be comfortable, I wear another.” – Elisabeth Bourgine, French actress

These lovely ladies have obviously given their panties a lot of thought. What about you? Does the pair of panties you choose change your mood or set a tone?

I’m definitely in the “Yes” camp… I love wearing the bright panties I make…  And do you also pick out your panties based on your outfit or activities for the day? Some panties I don’t want to wear if I’m planning on working out that afternoon- the ones that aren’t wedgie proof – and some are better for certain skirts or pants than others… Maybe you caught my panty horror story earlier this month?

This Panty Horror Story starts and ends in green undies…

Train wreck. You’ve seen someone’s panties when they didn’t want you to, right? Maybe it was the whale tail made by a thong, a visible panty line, or someone’s granny panties sticking out of the top of their low-rise pants…

Could you look away? Were you hypnotized? Were you embarrassed for the panty wearer?

I could’ve died the other day. One of my co-workers, someone super well respected that I just don’t know that well came into my work space at the office and basically spent the entirety of our 5 minute conversation looking down my as$ crack. Like how you might peer over a cliff into the abyss. He couldn’t look away. I was the train wreck.

Laundry day ignored meant I was wearing a super cute and super ridiculous green thong with purple polka dots, trim, and a purple lace up back. Totally ridiculous. Like the lorikeet (my new favorite bird).

Open back stool + skinny jeans + top that was just a bit too short for sitting in an open back stool in low cut skinny jeans + laundry day ignored = Good-God-when-will-this-conversation-end-and-how-long-will-I-be-reliving-it?

Sigh. I lived to tell the tale.

But it also made me think about wearing the right panties and how the perfect pair of panties is something you put on and only think about it if you want to. Which is why I love my Upitees so much. They’re so comfy and reliable, it’s almost like I’m putting on peace of mind.

I know I won’t be worrying about my panties when I wear them. So I can give my attention to everything else that needs it. And still be pleasantly surprised at how awesome it is to be wearing neon green panties (no polka dots, but with a screen print of the Eiffel Tower) when I take off the same pair of skinny jeans.

You’ve got 2 weeks to place an order for custom panties before an 8 week hiatus. Which tshirts have you been holding on to for panties (or nostalgia :))? In between now and then, I’ll be packing up La Vie en Orange to move to the Detroit area. (I’m going home. I can’t wait.)

That’s when the new korijock.com launches. And oh, what a launch it will be, with:

• 1 big giveaway
• 2 mini-collection launches – a bridal collection and city skylines collection (I see London, but where is France?)
• A new trans*women style

As part of the move, we’re taking a much-anticipated road trip and spending 4-5 weeks on the road.

During that time, the sewing machines will be in storage and we’ll be spending a ton of time with family and friends and in National Parks. And posting fun things to facebook. The Underwear of the Month Club will continue unaffected and ready-to-ship items will still be available, though alterations will be delayed. We’ll land in Michigan towards mid-July and count down to July 25th – launch date! :)

Just for you, this week I scoured the internets for 5 great no-sew t shirt tutorials. Let the upcycling begin! :) In no particular order:

5) A tshirt rug

I know these things are magnets for cat hair and all the sweeping I don’t do in our apartment, but doesn’t it look like so much fun? Plus, it sounds like on delicate, that you can machine wash… (For a sturdier, more labor intensive version, check out this beautiful latch hook tshirt rug tutorial.)

Ohmygosh don’t you think they’re so cute? And reusable, and probably machine washable if you tie your knots really really really tight and do it on delicate in a lingerie bag? :)

They look a little labor intensive- cutting the shirts into strips seems like it would take a while, but ohmygosh. Adorable!

Spring Cleaning with the Underwear of the Month Club – see the undies these tees make next week!

For this month’s Underwear of the Month Club, we are doing some spring cleaning- in February I sent each Club member an envelope to mail me an old tshirt for March’s undies. Each month I usually mail a pair of undies with a usually exclusive print for Club members only, but not while there’s spring cleaning to do! The packages I’ve gotten back for March’s undies have been filled with amazing tshirts (velvet letters, neon yellow, and goats, oh my!) and love letters for Upitees! I heard…
