The Lowe’s Scholarship
Lowe’s will award one hundred forty (140) $2,500 scholarships to high school seniors who intend to enroll full-time in an undergraduate course of study in the U.S. for the 2012/2013 school year.

Eligibility:

The Lowe’s Scholarship is available to all eligible students within the United States, including Lowe’s employees and their children. Eligible candidates must:

Be current high school seniors
Maintain a minimum 3.25 Grade Point Average (on a 4.0 scale)
Demonstrate a history of commitment to their community through leadership activities, community service and/or work experience

The program has specific scholarships for incoming freshmen and upper-level undergraduate students. All of the scholarships are based on financial needs and with the usual minimum GPA requirement of 3.0.

To be eligible for a scholarship you must:

Submit a completed application form indicating a sincere interest in an automotive career.
Provide an official transcript of all academic work.
Submit two letters of recommendation supporting your automotive interests.
Submit a letter of acceptance for an associate, bachelor, or masters program.
Be accepted at an accredited college, university or trade school within the United States at the time of application.
Students attending a technical training school may also apply (trade school should equal a two-year associates program).
Student must be a United States citizen or in the United States on a Student Visa.
Must be enrolled full-time.
Must have 3.0 GPA or higher.

Best Buy Children's Foundation is awarding up to $1.2 million in scholarships to recognize and reward students who have made extraordinary contributions both inside and outside of the classroom.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

Be students currently in grades 9-12 living in the United States or Puerto Rico. Students from public, private, alternate, or home schools are eligible to apply. Students attending school on a military base using an APO address are not eligible.
Have a minimum cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale), or equivalent.
Demonstrate commitment to and involvement in community volunteer service or work experience.
Be planning to enter a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, vocational-technical school, or online school/program in the United States or Puerto Rico following high school graduation. Applicants who are current high school seniors must enroll no later than fall 2012. Applicants who are in grades 9-11 must plan to enroll no later than the fall term following high school graduation.

With 2012 now here, all seniors who are eligible may complete their FAFSA. To get started, you should complete a FAFSA worksheet (click here). In fact, this is a graduation requirement and you will soon get an out of compliance notice if you do not.

Your parents' 2010 tax documents or W-2s or end-of-year paystubs
Info regarding any additional income you receive (e.g. SSI)

The Chez Scholars Program is a college access and retention program that recruits promising Chicago area public high school students. The program is designed to provide the Chez Scholars with support, guidance, and opportunities for personal growth as they journey through their undergraduate experience at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The Chez Scholarship Program reflects four foundational tenets:
» Academic Excellence
» Civic Engagement and Service Learning
» Leadership Development
» Career Development

Chez Scholars are expected to abide by all university policies, as well as attend Chez scheduled events. These events focus on the aforementioned tenets as well as social networking and individual mentoring. Each Chez Scholar is appointed a Chez Mentor who is a graduate student that guides and supports the scholar. The time commitment of Chez Scholars is approximately three hours a week. These three hours include bi-weekly individual mentoring sessions, bi-weekly group meetings, and bi-weekly Chez Scholar social networking. During weeks with special events, a few additional hours may be added; students will be made aware well in advance. The intent is to provide exceptional opportunities to the Chez Scholars that enhance their academic, professional, social, and personal growth.

Eligibility

Chez Scholarship applicants will be (with limited exceptions):
» Chicago Public High School students who have completed the application for admission to the University of Illinois
» Must be economically disadvantaged, having a household income of less than $40,000 (approximately 200% of the federal poverty level), the maximum family income for eligibility will be reviewed annually
» Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Application Requirements and Deadline

Completed applications must be postmarked by January 6, 2012. In addition to a completed application for admission, the Chez Family Scholarship application must include the following supporting materials:

» Chez application essays
» Two letters of recommendation (preferably one from a teacher/counselor and one from a personal contact who is not related to the student)
It is recommended that the Chez application and all supporting materials be submitted together, in one envelope. Letters of recommendation should be sealed in individual envelopes prior to submission of the application.

Seniors,
February 12 is your last chance to retake the ACT. It is shown that students who study generally increase their score by 2 points (that means if you got a 16, you are likely to get an 18, if you study). These two points may make a huge difference in being admitted to schools you have already applied to or somewhat selective schools you are still applying to. The registration deadline for this date is Friday, January 7. Below is a list of some familiar colleges/universities with the minimum-average ACT score they require:

Reminder! You must complete a FAFSA worksheet to determine how much financial aid you are eligible for as well as proof that you have applied to at least one of the City Colleges of Chicago. If you do not bring this completed form and proof of application to room 112 before December break you will receive a warning that you are out of compliance for graduation and will be subject to intervention. It is a sad day for me, knowing that this will be my last week at Kelvyn Park. I have many wonderful memories getting to know you and work with you since 2006, when many of you were in elementary school. Colgate-Palmolive Company proudly announces the return of its scholarship program “Haz la U” or “Make the U”. This program, launched in partnership with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), aims to award educational grants to eligible Hispanic students pursuing higher education.

High School seniors are encouraged to apply for the opportunity to win a $15,000 educational grant, or one of ten $2,500 additional grants.

Eligibility Requirements:

Be of Hispanic heritage.
Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States with a valid Social Security Number at the time of application. All legal permanent residents must submit a copy of their valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired).
