Hyoyeon and Yuri to Be Special MCs on Mnet’s ‘M! Countdown’

Hyoyeon and Yuri have been chosen as special MCs for Mnet’s “M! Countdown” episode featuring Girls’ Generation’s Korean comeback, which will air on January 3rd at 6:00 PM KST.

The girls will be performing two songs: “Dancing Queen” and “I Got A Boy”. This will be the first time “I Got A Boy” is performed on a weekly music show.

Before their “M! Countdown” performance, the girls will appear as guests on Mnet’s “Open Studio Talk”. Girls’ Generation will also perform on KBS’s “Music Bank”, MBC’s “Show! Music Core”, and SBS’s “Inkigayo” on the 4th, 5th, and 6th of January, respectively.

Sales are soaring for ‘Infinity Challenge‘s’ 2013 calendar!

MBC began pre-orders for the special 2013 calendars and diaries on November 30th through the MBC T Shop, d&shop, and GS Shop with shipments starting December 14th.

As of today, the official homepage for the MBC T Shop suffered a server crash from the influx of viewers and fans swarming in to purchase the goods. The calendars were produced using two fanmade creations chosen through a design concert that started in September.

The calendar comes in three different versions (desktop, hanging, bromide) while the diary comes in the colors of either purple or green. Those lucky enough to purchase the special package will see a ‘Moodori’ sticker with their purchase.

ZE:A‘s Kwanghee gave advice to Jung Woo Sung on how to look better.

On ‘Knee Drop Guru‘, Jung Woo Sung confessed, “People tell me I look better in person. I want to look better on screen.” To this, Kwanghee said, “I fixed everything. If you want to look good on screen, you have to fix things.”

To this, Jung Woo Sung asked, “Then where should I fix?“. Kwanghee hesitated in answering, but at the urging of the other MCs, he muttered, “I think it’ll be good if you get botox…” and laughed slightly feeling embarrassed and not knowing how to feel about giving out advice to an already handsome actor as well as sunbae.

Jung Woo Sung also was a bit taken back but to add to his shock, Kwanghee added, “I think age is getting to you.”

Kang Ho Dong apologized on behalf of Kwanghee, but Jung Woo Sung joked, “Ah, I’m insulted“. To this, Kwanghee looked like he was going to cry and said, “He’s upset at me! I’ll go and watch his movie! What should I do? It’s not like [I'll be able to make it up to him] since I won’t see him again!“, causing everyone to laugh at his frantic attempt to redeem himself.

Girls’ Generation‘s Taeyeon brought laughter to her fans as she looked adorable with her short height.

Photos of Girls’ Generation at a concert were recently posted online under the title, “Girls’ Generation Taeyeon, proof that she’s tiny“. In the photos, Yuri and YoonA are reading a letter that Yuri wrote. Taeyeon is trying to peek in next to the taller members, but had to tiptoe and crane her neck just to read over Yuri’s shoulder. When that tallest member Sooyoung joined the other tall girls, Taeyeon was completely dwarfed out, causing fans to laugh at the photos.

Super Junior’s Leeteuk to star in musical, ‘The Promise’

It’s been reported that Super Junior‘s Leeteuk will be appearing in a musical alongside actors Kim Moo Yeol and Ji Hyun Woo, who are also currently serving in the army.

The three stars will be acting in ‘The Promise‘, which will be sponsored by the Ministry of National Defense. The musical is based on actual historical events and figures, such as General Baek Sun Yeop and war correspondent Marguerite Higgins, and will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Korean War.

‘The Promise’ is scheduled to open in January of 2013 at the National Theater of Korea. The Ministry will make an official announcement when further details are confirmed.

It has been revealed that Sun had introduced her fiance to the JYP Entertainment employees before making the marriage announcement.

On representative from JYP Entertainment stated, “Before her announcement, Sun introduced her fiance to the JYP Entertainment family such as J.Y. Park and CEO Jeong Wook.” Sun had been a JYP Entertainment trainee since she was in elementary school, so she had a family like relationship with many of the employees. The representative added, “Sun is a very thoughtful person and she loves her JYP family. JYP Entertainment also put Sun’s happiness first, so she made her announcement in a really good and positive mood.”

CEO Jeong Wook also added, “I’ve met Sun’s fiancee. Sun introduced us. He was someone sincere and a type of person you can trust. There were people who seemed to worry that Sun’s marriage would affect our company but Sun’s happiness comes before anything else.“

SECRET releases “Talk That” MV teaser

This will be the first time in three years that the group will be working with Shinsadong Tiger since their early track, “Magic“. Judging by the photos that have been released so far, it seems the girls will be going for a more serious concept this time around.

JYJ’s Junsu talks about the end of their legal battle with SM Entertainment

JYJ‘s Junsu discussed his thoughts on the ending of the legal battle with SM Entertainment.

Junsu took part in a press conference at the Sheraton Hotel in Essen, Germany to mark the ending of his 1st World Tour. He said, “The legal battle lasted for 3 years and 4 months. To be honest, it should have ended earlier… But at the same time I also feel that the results came out suddenly. Having had a hard time for 3 years and 4 months, I felt like that time was not spent in vain… I heard the news when I was leaving for Germany, so I actually don’t know all the details of the settlement.”

He continued, “Because of that, it’s hard to say too much on this. The important thing is that we were able to obtain good results. I haven’t talked to the members yet, but I want to when I get back to Korea.”

When asked about what JYJ has been able to gain from the settlement, he responded, “I’m happy not because we achieved what JYJ or we wanted to achieve, but because we might have helped our hoobaes. I think we helped in making the environment better for our hoobaes. Contracts of 13, 10 years have been changed to basic contracts, and even that alone was consolation during our lonely legal battle. It’s what kept us going.”

On the issue of appearing on variety shows, he said carefully, “If this type of result allows for us to appear on broadcast, then it should have been possible three years ago when we first filed (to become independent).” He added, “I don’t know if it will be possible for us to appear on variety shows through this result. We always dream about it, but I want to ask all you reporters, do you think we can?“

One unfortunate result of the lawsuit was that there will probably never be a 5-membered TVXQ. On that subject, he said, “A lot of time passed, but one unfortunate fact is that we can no longer have activities under the TVXQ name. We wanted to fight against the company’s unfairness, it wasn’t that we wanted to leave TVXQ. It just had to happen. It’s regretful and saddening. I feel sorry to the fans, but the title of TVXQ will remain forever. But realistically, it’s going to be difficult to promote as TVXQ again.”

Leessang and YB will be releasing a new song titled “Mad Man” for their joint concert.

According to Leessang Company, “They song was originally meant for only the concert but they recorded the song because fans have give so much support for their concert. It’s a song full of energy and asks the fans to have some crazy fun with them.” The two bands have already collaborated through “Run” and “Someday“, and will show off the same powerful sound in “Mad Man”.

“Mad Man” will be released on December 4th.

‘Knee Drop Guru‘ took the #1 spot in its time slot with its return episode!

The episode ranked a 9.3% in ratings, pushing ‘Happy Together‘ to 2nd place. ‘Happy Together’ had long enjoyed a monopoly on Thursday nights, but the return of ‘Knee Drop Guru’ caused the ratings to drop 2.1% lower than last week to push it down to 7.2%.

The original Kang Ho Dong and Yoo Se Yoon MCs gained much praise for their skills that did not seem at all rusty, and newcomer Kwanghee also caught much attention with his perfect adaptation to the ‘Knee Drop Guru’ style.

Eun Ji Won will have a character modeled after him in the fourth expansion pack of ‘World of Warcraft‘.

Blizzard Entertainment announced that ‘Eun-Choding’, modeled after Eun Ji Won, will be an NPC in the expansion pack ‘Mists of Pandaria‘. Blizzard Entertainment stated, “The ‘Eun Choding’ NPC was created because of the Korean players’ continuous support of ‘World of Warcraft’. We wanted to provide something fun that users can enjoy. ‘Eun-Choding’ is the first NPC that will be modeled after a Korean celebrity. As fitting of the ‘Eun-Choding’ name, he’s a young Pandaren that greets players near the cabbage patch.”

When the ‘Eun-Choding’ NPC is talked to, he replies, “I like to travel for 1 Night and 2 Days. During the travels, sleeping outside is especially fun!“, “I was really good at dancing. Jung Woo Sung talked about living in severe poverty while growing up on the November 29th episode of ‘Knee Drop Guru‘.

On the show he stated, “I lived in a place called ‘cardboard city’. We would live in one place for as long as we could, and when the bulldozer came around, we would run away to another house. We would just have to deal with cracks on the walls, because we had to leave.” He added, “When I was in my late teens, we had so much cold drafts in the house that when we lay down to sleep, you could see our breath.”

He added, “But I thought to myself that my father’s poverty was not mine. I told myself that I would make my own life after overcoming this, so I never hated him.“

It was revealed that singer Lee Hyori almost debuted as a member of S.E.S and not Fin.K.L.

On the episode of tvN’s ‘enews‘ that aired on November 29th, Jam’s Jo Jin Soo, Two-Two’s Hwang Hye Young, Noise’s Han Sang Il, and Hello Venus’s Alice appeared and compared the music scene back in the 1990′s to today.

During the broadcast, what especially caught the attention of people was the fact that sexy diva Lee Hyori was once a trainee at SM Entertainment but even more shocking was the fact that she was cast by the manager of H.O.T.

An internet meme featuring a Nostradamus prediction on Psy‘s “Gangnam Style” has been receiving attention.

An online community recently shared a faux Nostradamus quote that read, “From the calm morning, the end will come when of the dancing horse the number of circles will be 9“. The quote seemed to fit perfectly with Psy – Korea is called the ‘The Land of the Morning Calm’, Psy’s dance is the ‘horse’ dance, and the circle of 9 could be interpreted as the video quickly approaches 900 million views. Additionally, there’s also a chance “Gangnam Style” will reach 1 billion views around the Mayan-calendar-end-date of December 21st.

Fans were got amused by the joke meme as they commented, “So Psy marks the end of our world?“, “This is just taking Psy’s popularity a little too far“, and “I spat out my ramen reading this post because I was laughing so hard“.

In any case, memes like this just seem to give further credence to Psy’s popularity.

Kim Ha Neul attends promotional events in Taiwan for ‘Gentlemen’s Class’

Actress Kim Ha Neul had a successful round of promotions in Taiwan for her drama, ‘Gentlemen’s Class‘.

The actress visited the country on November 27th for a three-day stay and was greeted by a large crowd from the moment of her arrival at the airport. Sponsored by Taiwan’s ‘Videoland‘, her promotional visit has been on the radar for many fans as they await the broadcast beginning November 29th.

At the official press conference, several local media outlets competed for answers and statements, including some from China and Hong Kong as well. Kim Ha Neul talked about her feelings on her visit to Taiwan as well as fun stories that happened on the set of filming. Despite the drama having completed its run in Korea, many were surprised to see that it still held much popularity overseas.

The final stop was at a pre-school where she attended a ‘Love’s T-Shirt’ public service event by helping kids design their own t-shirts and acting as their one-day teacher. The t-shirts were put up for auction online with all proceeds being donated to underprivileged children in Taiwan.

Singer Bada of original “fairy” girl group S.E.S. shared photos of their reunion at a fan meeting.

Psy revealed in a recent interview the person he wants to see doing his ‘horse dance’ the most is none other than Hollywood star Tom Cruise.

On November 28th, TEEN TOP visited Vietnam to perform for MBC‘s ‘Show! Music Core‘ special celebrating the 20th anniversary of Korea and Vietnam’s establishment of diplomatic relations.

The Vietnamese fans gathered in Hanoi wearing self-produced t-shirts and holding up purple TEEN TOP towels. They traveled with the members throughout their various schedules.

In addition, the fans handed gifts to TEEN TOP at their official press interview and had a short but special meeting with the members.

After seeing the photos from Vietnam, fans commented, “I’m proud of TEEN TOP spreading across Asia“, “Wow~ they are famous in Vietnam too“, “Let’s spread across the world, TEEN TOP!“, “Have a good performance!” and more.

Moon Geun Young revealed her thoughts on returning to the entertainment scene after her two-year hiatus.

On November 28th’s airing of ‘One Night of TV Entertainment‘, Moon Geun Young commented, “Two years seem to have just passed by me. I just hung out.”

She continued, “When I was resting, my heart was really at ease, and I thought ‘acting is something I could just do easily.’ Even just today I have already heard many times that it has been two years and that made me very scared.”

Her ‘Chundamdong Alice‘ co-stars Park Si Hoo and Kim Ji Suk were also present for the interview. Park Si Hoo commented on Moon Geun Young’s youthful beauty, “It was very nice to see her again. Earlier, fans had started speculating about Sunmi‘s return to the Wonder Girls after she revealed that she would be sharing some good news with fans soon.

Unfortunately for fans, the speculations were refuted by JYP Entertainment representatives, as they responded, “The rumors of Sunmi returning to the Wonder Girls are not true at all. We’re not sure where people are getting this from.”

As mentioned earlier, Sunmi had joined in with some of the Wonder Girls members as they had a chat session with their fans after the news of Sun‘s wedding announcement.
