A few months back I posted an amazing video captured by Liberty Smith & Sophie Windsor Clive; it was the remarkable dance of starlings called murmuration. Normally my blog is based off my work, my life and mostly the amazing couples whom I am able to share in their moment of uniting their love.
When I am inspired by someone or something else I feel I have to share in this wondrous moment!
Again Liberty and Sophie have created something that is inspirational to me in so many ways!
First of course it's about love and romance and that just always gets me emotionally attached. It's also about history and tradition. Most of all it's about the belief in fate, that moment when you just KNOW and you fall head first into the sea of LOVE!

Seattle Wedding | Published in Eco-Beautiful Magazine | Destination Wedding Photographer

Time to start the New Year {Happy 2012} everyone! My one goal for this month is to at least catch up on some 2011 blogging. Why not, right? So for my 3rd post of the year, I thought let's start it off with a BANG! Last September I traveled to Seattle to shoot my cousin Ali's wedding. I love visiting especially that time of year; the sky was lit up with golden rays of sunshine... a rarity (especially if you are just a visitor). I don't think we could have asked for better weather.

Although I am a Cali girl born and raised much of my family lives and is from Washington, so some of heart stays in this state of ample rain.

Ali and her now husband had smiles and tears of joy though out the day! I had only just met Nolan but I can tell you it was mad love between these two!
Ali was absolutely drop-dead gorgeous,
her gown to die for and she wore her $#i!-kickers the entire day and night (despite she had also bought some adorable shoes which were so much fun to shoot)!
Even though I am partial to my cousin's wedding it was truly one of my favorite to shoot!
Ali and Nolan's wedding was so fabulous it was published in Eco-Beautiful Magazine & featured on their blog!

NO to SOPA & PIPA! | NO to censorship | SAVE THE INTERNET

I support anti-piracy and copyrights rights because I am an artist, a photographer.
While I may support our rights as an artist, I do NOT believe that SOPA and PIPA (which are being considered through congress right now) will help. In fact they will diminish our rights, censor the internet and basically kill any business that uses the internet as a marketing or selling tool.
No longer will you be able to speak your mind on your blog or facebook. No longer will you be able to search Pinterest, or research wedding vendors. The portfolios of photographers, artist and writers will be censored, blacked out. Musicians use the internet promoting their sound out to a vast public, this will no longer be attainable if these bills pass. So please for these reason's and MANY, MANY more sign the petition and urging our congress to NOT pass SOPA or PIPA!

New Year = New Fresh Look! | KrashingMotions | Destination Wedding Photography

As you have seen and as you have read, I have been pretty much MIA in the blog world and least in comparison to my normal blogging habits in the past 3-4 years. All of this is with good reason.

1). I needed to make more time for my family. Every year I re-evaluate where my priorities are and how do I create balance. It's a constant juggling act and it evolves and hopefully improves as time passes. I find it is something I have to continuously work on.
2). I had a surplus of wedding the latter part of the year. While normally the season seems to drop off around October, mine seem to pick up in September and not stop until the end of November. This was the 1st time I needed to stop shoots for the month of December so I can concentrate on my current clients during the mix of the holidays. The holidays are feverishly busy with family and birthdays- there are MANY of us sag's in my immediate and extended family! Oh and I turned 40 this past December. I'm not one who usually focuses on age or is affected at all but this one hit me like a TON of BRICKS- ouch- reality!
3). With every year there is change and I personally wanted to upgrade and create another fresh look for KrashingMotions. So during the craziness of weddings, holidays and life I designed a NEW fresh site!!!
So check it out and tell me what you think. Oh and don't think I didn't make a little something special for you too? Oh yes I did I created 2 more designs for my couple's wedding sites!!!
Everything is fresh, customizable and stylish!

Happy New Year | Another Year & this one was FABULOUS | 4 Weddings and 2 eSession still to go KrashingMotions Wedding Photographer

With every year that passes, time seems to leave these moments so much quicker. I say it every year and it's just the unfathomable truth as we age.
Last year 2010 ended with me feeling likes things were going to change for the better. They were going to change, because I was determined to make things happen. 2010 was a tremendous challenge for me in every area of my life- work, family, personal & emotional. I said I would not let the majority of the negative parts of that year effect me any more.
I have to say my determination and the promise I made to myself worked. I took chances and created opportunities. No longer was I just waiting for things to happen or making excuses. Much of this of course I'm speaking about my passion to have a successful business in this crazy awesome industry of weddings. So I made plans to travel on my own meet couples and shoot their moments. This was truly a mind blowing experience for me to leave the comfort of being home with my husband and daughter as I created a path of independence (something I found a bit hard after taking care of others needs first). I submitted almost every wedding and eSession for publication. While I still have few more to submit, I have to say each was a success and much of it was because of the ability to submit via Two Bright Lights! I want to especially thank Katie Martin for publishing my work twice this year in her Summer Issue and her Winter Issue of Eco-Beautiful Magazine and another extra thank you to Nicola of the former Bridal Crate now Inspire a Bride for giving me so much support and encouragement. I think KrashingMotions had a record of over 16 features this past year (maybe more not sure), so thank you to all the amazing editors, publishers and wedding bloggers out there! I continued to step out of my comfort zone and went on somewhat of a photographer's retreat. I met with peers whom I learned a great deal from, whom I looked up to and to whom others I was able to contribute my experiences as well. Being a mentor to someone else leaves you feeling like you can leave your stamp in this world and say I contributed.
I also made the promise to myself and to my family to make sure I spent more time with them. The one thing I knew I could do to allow for more of that time and not take away from my clients was to minimize my blogging. Blogging is an amazing tool for photographers to expose their work and to connect with potential clients. We give you peak into our supposedly FABULOUS & EXCITING lives! The reality of it is... the fabulous and exciting is really us experiencing your fabulous & exciting lives behind a lens and then spending countless hours editing images, designing product & albums and marketing. I look back on my blog and think wow there is SO MUCH MORE TO TELL. So what to do for this upcoming year of 2012? We can't be everything at all times and I continue to promise my family to be present, so adjustments always need to be made in life, bringing me to my last post. I feel blogging is a necessity and something I truly miss having the time to invest. So changes will be made so I can devote more time to sharing the amazing moments of others and the little special moments in mine and my family's life as well.

Looking back on 2011, I am thrilled I was able to travel to multiple places to shoot, market, network, learn, meet people and experience life.
I met amazing couples, shot in amazing cities, was inspired by others and hopefully gave some inspiration as well.
Opportunities are mainly ones we create and if one just happens to come along...jump on it because it's rare they just 'happen'.
2012... here I come more equipped to create MORE opportunities not only for myself but for others out there dreaming to live a life where their passion is their work and their work is their passion!

Time Flies When your Having Fun | Life is Plentiful and Busy | Destination Wedding Photographer

Wow I have been so behind on my blogging that I thought I should check in with y'all!
It isn't that there is nothing to blog about, actually quite the contrary!
My life as mom, wife, wedding photographer, and blogger have just become busy and a bit overwhelming. For 2012, I have made a few decisions to lighten the load so I can balance a bit better. Every year I have to recognize my limitations and reorganize my work plan.
Every year there a more weddings, more opportunities and because I have an a amazingly talented daughter more mommy responsibilities.
Last year I made the decision to lighten up my load by blogging less when I became busy. The thing is I truly miss being able to share my couple's love stories and my own life's little pleasure of watching my daughter grow.
So this year for 2012 I'm going to designate more of my responsibilities to other professionals... such as editing. After researching I'm certain that I have a found a company to handle my style of editing so it represents my work properly.
It was truly difficult for me to release this to someone else because honestly I LOVE EDITING! I can't help it... it's like painting to me (my life's passion).
But taking this off my plate will give me more freedom to focus on my family, to focus on my relationships with my amazing clients, to focus on my blog, and to get out there to SHOOT more!

With all that said, I will begin blogging once I get caught up and start my business in a new direction this January!!!

Happy Birthday Drewbie! | {Sweet 16} | Lifestyle Photography

Last night my hubby, daughter and I went to Drew's Sweet 16! Drew is my niece and the 2nd in her family to turn 16! I met her when she was 3 1/2! It's crazy to think she is now 16 and on her way to be an adult!
I have to say this girl along with her sister Deison (who will graduate this year) are amazing girls! They impress me with their drive, their ambition and their confidence! They have an amazing mommy and family who support them and keep them directed in life! The vision the girls have on their own is truly amazing and I have NO doubt that they shall be amazing leaders in the future!

As for the celebration itself...well I can say "thanks mom n dad"; you created an amazing night for an amazing girl!
We love you Drew!

My gift to her was just some fun shots we took a couple months ago and then some fun Movie Poster designs to suit the style of the party!

Kristen & Mike | {Rock the Dress} | Featured on Engaged and Inspired

This may be the longest photo post I have featured! Back in May Kristen emailed me asking if they could book their Rock the Dress Session that they had bid and won the year prior from a charity event I donated my services. They were quite lucky couple not only did they win a Rock the Dress from me they also won full wedding coverage via another photographer.
So their wedding day had come and pass. The one thing she said that it was a bit hectic and the rain had put a spin on the day itself. She was able toe get coverage and all the shots need for a wedding with the exception of ones of just them. She said there were a few photos but not as many as she hoped and all this was due to craziness a wedding can bring and the weather of course really cut into photo time.
Couples this does happen and that's why it is so great to have the chance at a 1st Look prior to the Ceremony or if you can't budget the time in then a Rock the Dress session can make up for those lost moments.
Since I didn't shoot their wedding I thought for this Rock the Dress we would create a sudo wedding theme as if the eloped and then celebrate on their own and take a mini honeymoon. Without further ado, here is their story captured from a day of Rock'n the Dress!

So here we start with them having private ceremony and then celebrating right after as they are announce husband and wife!

The lady below was just too fun.... she walks across totally aware we are shooting but without a care! Love moments like this!

Traveling eSession | Featured on inspire a Bride | Destination Wedding Photographer

So I blogged a bit back about a journey I took with an amazing couple Larry & Denise!
We drove from Long Beach to Vegas and along the way we shot their eSession! It was nothing less than eventful & memorable.
Out 1st stop was in Calico where they styled themselves in country attire. It was HOT... we all were a bit dehydrated from the sweltering heat but once we got rolling with the shoot the heat became bearable. Larry and Denise use to be photographers so they had all sorts of ideas and Larry is on creative mode at all times. Denise was more trusting in my vision but I really do love great ideas so it was quite collaborative.
Our 2nd stop was in Las Vegas where shot our Rat Pack style (which happened to be my personal favorite). There was a moment when we were trying to get a shot of them kissing with the rest of the people on the promenade walking in motion but everyone kept stopping and staring at them directly in front of me. The passer-byers were just clueless as to what was going on. I think they thought they were celebrities or were going to break out in a flash mob. Once I got their attention they realized what we were doing. It continued to be a challenge though because the people would then walk through the shot and then stop and stare right into the camera, again all to hilarious.

Our final stop for shooting was the morning after on our way back where we set up for a 50's styled shoot at Peggy Sue's!
Denise is so photogenic; she made my job easy!

Really I have to say the experience was one I will never forget! Denise thank you for finding me! I loved shooting your engagement &wedding!

The Challenges of Blogging | Long Beach Blogger & Photographer

I have been MIA from my blog, I know. It's been an eventful year and it's not over, not nearly thankfully!
I love to blog and I love to share what's going on professionally and personally and of course my main goal is to share my clients' images & stories so they can have a preview of their special moment. This year I made a promise to myself and my family to balance my work and my family life better. It's still a struggle but the one thing I know that helps juggle a bit better is to forego my blog when things get busy. So uber-busy and starting my daughter back on a school schedule really kept me from blogging. The funny thing is I had a couple of days where I could have blogged but then it was hacked, then after that I really struggled to get back here. Blogging is like working out... you get on a roll and you can't stop but if you take a break and that break becomes longer than you expect it's hard to get it all started again.
So here I am getting back on the horse! The best part of getting back on the horse is that I have so many fabulous moments to share! So head back soon and see what's been happening!

I want to take a moment today of pause and silence to honor the families and loved ones who were affected by the horrific murders 2 days ago in Seal Beach. Seal Beach is basically my back yard and a town where you could NEVER imagine anything to this magnitude happening. It's a quaint, quiet adorable town on the beach full of families, friends and love.

2011 is absolutely AMAZING! | Now for 2012 | Destination Wedding Photographer

Well this year has been so amazing! I have had so many great couples, ladies and families! Summer came and went in a flash. Along with speed of summer, I have been busy just trying to keep up with my daughter's schedule, my husband's and of course my business schedule! I can't believe how many fabulous moments I have been apart of and how many opportunities came my way this year! There is SO MUCH to tell but I think it best to give to give to you all in bits during this week.
Hopefully soon I can start blogging some of the amazing weddings, Rock the Dress Sessions and Intimate Moments. I have been having a love affair with TwoBright Lights because it has afforded me so many features to highlight many of these moments! So while it is an honor to have my work, my couples, my ladies featured it also entails that I and they BE very patient to hare on my blog or facebook. SO SOON I HOPE I WILL have plenty to share with you all!

So for tonight I though I would just put this out there...
2011 will soon be a memory (at least in my world) because the days just seem to countdown in seconds. A Journey Through the Times | ShowIt + Sites | A Fun n Fabulous to gift to my Engaged Couples

ShowIt is a fabulous website developing site that allows you to completely customize and create your own website. I have been doting over it for the last 6 months. I love what I was able to create to make my own website represent me, my style and be completely MY OWN. Not only was or am I able to create my own website I am able to create customized website for all my couples! It's not one of those cheesy free websites you fill in the info and get a few backgrounds or colors to choose from; these site are beyond professional and really showcase you photos and your wedding information. I think I've created about 14 now and each time I love that I am able to give this to my couples....

(and so are they!)

I'll be showcasing a few of my favorite photos from this eSession and the story of our journey back in time on the road to Vegas with Denise and Larry! Seriously an amazing, crazy, adventure shooting 3 eSession with them back to back on our way to Vegas!

Happy Birthday Sis | PASS Gallery | Lifestyle Photography in Southern California

My youngest Sister whom turns 30 tomorrow, just had her 2nd baby {Baby Liam}; he is so adorable! I just met him 3 days after he was born and I really need to make time to go seem him again. I'm sure that even though it only been a week since I saw him, he has changed quite a bit!

Time seems to escape me no matter how hard I try to keep up and grab ahold of it but there is always so much to be done and never enough time to get to it! Hence why I am only now posting this gallery from my sister's baby shower back in late June! So Kendee I love you and I hope you have a fabulous birthday... I'm sure you will; what an amazing gift {Liam}!!!!

A Photographer Wish to Love | Heartfelt Story from another Photographer {Casey Chappell}

I came across another photographer's blog today, Casey Chappell from a post on facebook. I always luv reading other photographer's post, viewing their work, and look for inspiration. For the first time EVER, my heart was touched like I have never felt from a post! My eyes filled with tears of sorrow, joy, and hope for this family!

Casey had a baby and shortly after I think a mere 4 months he passed. I can only imagine the pain they endured from such a loss.

I donate my service to a foundation called Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. It gives parents whom have a child who has passed (or will) these few moments of the family captured by a professional photographer. While I know the service itself is a true gift to these parents, I have been struggling lately if I want to remain apart of it because I become depressed after shooting a baby whom has or will pass. After reading this story though it makes me reconsider.

These parents actually had a huge loss and shortly after they were able to open up their hearts and their home to 2 new babies! And now they want to have more love and more laughter in their home by adopting 2 more children from the Congo.

Adopting is costly and I can only imagine the struggle they have to raising these funds for love.

I was perusing some blogs this morning for inspiration, as I usually do. I came across "Cocktails Details". First I LOVE the company name- anything with cocktails rocks! Next the design is fresh & clean; it makes me feel like I just blew in from an open airy window into a cloud of "AWE"!

Confessions of a Crazy Chick | {Personal}

Ok, so I have been thinking about this a lot lately...
Who am I?
Why do I not feel like myself?
Do you ever feel like that?
The past few years or so I have gone through so many changes in life (marriage, motherhood, surgeries, entrepreneurship) and been a on journey of self development and some serious soul searching. If you read my blog, you probably have seen me posting about this self discovery here and there.

During all the changes of life and the developing of my business I think I lost some of the real me, the fun me. I feel like I always have to put on my game face when I meet with my clients and other professionals in this industry. We all do it to some extent because we want to be professional. But this professional side of me really can spill over into your personal life and it has in mine.
I feel because of this I have become TOO serious and I'm not laughing as much as I used to.
Don't get me wrong I LOVE what I do!
It's not the what I do that makes me feel like this, it's the fact much of the time I have a personal issue of not being able to turn off my professionalism and seriousness when it comes to my personal life.
Well I have to just put it out there...
I can't do it anymore! I need to be just me!
I'm the crazy chick who laughs at farts, who dances around the house, who says silly and ridiculous stuff, who knows way too much pop culture and who laughs at my own jokes uncontrollably!

Mauga Family Vacations | PASS Gallery Created by David Jay | Lifestyle Photography

I have had some family travels and I can never find the time to blog about it. Of course my clients' posts end up being my priority and when it comes to my personal life and travels, the memories captured become so hard to weed through and pic my faves because every moment is a fave!

If you follow me and have seen all the changes to my website this year it is because of ShowIt sites that I now have CUSTOM website which I love! Now David Jay and his team have created something else that delivers customization and ease of use for me and my clients: PASS! With PASS, I can share a gallery my images all to my family, my friends, even facebook!

What is PASS? Well it's like a Cloud of your pics in webspace you can access and share; it seems to be the wave of our future when it comes to sharing images with family, friends and even with clients! Yes this is now an option to my clients instead of a DVD (you can the DVD too if you wish) you can have a PASS gallery where you can download images from the web, "pass" to your family and friends and post to facebook without uploading each individual image to facebook. Another fab thing about PASS, it let's us OWN our images and NOT facebook! Yes did you know that when you upload directly onto facebook they own the image now and can do whatever thy wish with it!? As a professional photographer that really URKES me!

Wedding Nouveau Feature | Eco-Hippy Chic featured AGAIN! | Long Beach Wedding Photography

I truly LOVE what I do! I am so thankful for all the support in this industry and the ability to work with amazing vendors and amazing couples! It's been an exciting time lately. For the 100th time I have to say how much I love 2011!
Our Eco-Hippy Chic Elopement was just featured again! Wedding Nouveau came to us and asked if they could feature it even though it was already published and of course would give credit to the original publisher Eco-Beautiful Magazine. I was more than honored to have them approach me now for 2nd time to feature one my photo sessions.
Wedding Nouveau focuses and features intercultural brides and weddings; what a fabulous concept! There are so many resources for couples now available on the web! I find myself being addicted the e-Zines and wed-blogs (wishing these had been available when I was planning my wedding 10 years ago).
Couples take heed to these fabulous wedding resources; the editor, writers and founders KNOW what's up and have such a keen sense & knowledge for style, decor, planning and resources!

Stephanie & David {Married} | Malibu West Beach Club | Malibu Wedding Photographer

This was one of two weddings I shot in the same week with Ian Andrew back in May. If you read the 1st post re: shooting 2 in a row, you know I have know intention doing it again.

But I have to say despite the numbness in my mind this day, it turned out to be an amazing wedding. How could it not when you are shooting at the Malibu West Beach Club?!
This venue is simply sweet with an amazing view that keeps everyone in a zen moment!

The day started of splendidly with a fabulous gown and ring to shoot!

The men of course are always so much fun to shoot. Grooms and their groomsmen are seriously giddy! Brides sometimes comes across surprisingly calm and I think it's their nerves that quites there true excitement, while the men always seem to be laughing from their nerves.

David and his groomsmen of course did not fail me when it came to enjoying every moment!

When we had arrived to the venue, I entered just before Stephanie was about to dress. She was glowing; she has that soft ivory skin that just perfected her bride-to-be look.

I had not met David and Stephanie together yet but once she walked down the aisle, I could see their love for each other by they looked so lovingly into each other's eyes.

The whole day and evening, David was more than enamored by his bride. You could tell this day was one of true love and bright future!

Some Fave Shots from Eco-Hippy Chic Elopement | Published in Eco-Beautiful Magazine | Long Beach Editorial Wedding Photography

After waiting for 9 mos to have reveal this styled shoot we composed as a "collective" it was finally published in Eco-Beautiful Magazine. The whole magazine wow'ed me! I was so thankful to see we got 2 full spread! I luv it! The funny thing is those 2 spreads still can't amount to the work we put into this shoot because we truly laid it out like a real wedding (shooting all the scenes amounting up 8 hours!).

So though it's already out there and in print and viral, I have to share more of the day and some of my faves!

Just below is our inspiration board we send to publishers to look over to consider us for publishing. It takes just these few photos to hopefully grab the interest of a publisher and then it goes to review from there if it's up for consideration.

The wait can be long to get the final product but really it is so worth it!

I submit 95% of my submissions through Two Bright Lights and they have been a HUGE channel to get my work featured and published!

The rest of the shots are just a FEW of my faves! I had way too many faves because I worked with such a fabulous team who went above and beyond my expectations. Because there were to many great moments I created a feature site just for this shoot to share the whole story!

Holy Ring Obsession | Malibu Wedding Photographer

While sit here on the computer editing photos and prepping my blog for at least 4 more posts this week (crazy) I realized I must have had an obsession with this wedding ring. As I went through my edits for David and Stephanie's wedding it was clear I must have loved her ring because I took so many images of it! So here is something I have been sitting on since October 2010!
We have been published by the fabulous Eco-Beautiful Magazine!
I love Eco-Beautiful; Katie has such an amazing eye and sense of style!

This shoot all started from a vintage wedding dress I found in Santa Barbara at the Yellowstone Clothing Boutique.

I was completely inspired by this dress and I had to have a shoot with it!

I gathered my gals from the Long Beach Wedding Collective and asked if they would be interested in contributing in a styled shoot coming from the inspiration of this vintage late 60's early 70's dress! Well they were in and we came up with the idea of making this authentic and Eco-Friendly!

Our Styled Shoot is titled Eco~Hippy Chic. All products were reused, authentic 60-70's decor. Most of our decor was borrowed from family members, stuff we already had and some (very little- the gown and the groom's shirt) was purchased through vintage boutiques. All of collaborators are from Long Beach, Ca and are apart of the Long Beach Wedding Collective. Our mission was to create a 70's inspired theme with everything as a reused item. Even some of our flowers were in a sense reused. We had originally scheduled to shoot at the Nature Preserve "Greenbelt" in LongBeach. Only days before our shoot we noticed they were leveling it out. It was so sad to see a blanket of wild flowers along a natural walk way in Long beach to be taken away. So our florist Megan Gray of Honey and Poppies gathered some of the wildly grown flowers indigenous to California to become apart of our floral arrangements. Each collaborator donated items of their own to the shoot. It was amazing to see how each of us already had decor from this genre and how it complimented the scene and created authenticity to the theme.

I have to thank ALL the gals from the Long Beach Wedding Collective for being apart of this and contributing in so many ways by sharing your expertise, lending props & helping bring an idea to fruition. I also want to thank those who didn't get credit via the publication... our assistants! Abbi Kidwell who at the time was Candice Maloney's assistant from De-Lovely Events really had a great hand in creating this vision we came up with. Shanda Hudson was my 2nd shooter; she captured some amazing sideline shots one being a full spread feature!
Special thanks to Ma n Pa's Market for allowing us to completely restyle their courtyard.
