After a while, I've decided to change my blog title!

Eventually, I don't feel the specific engagement between the name itself and the readers. I've come up with a new, relatable title that screams everything about this niche fashion blog. Trendescope (formerly en la moda) represents everything I want to comprise. Derived from two words, trend and telescope, Trendescope tells readers of how I share my eye for trend and fashion. I'm spotting trends and stalking fashion updates.

Trendescope channels my hunt for fashion with this blog as your telescope.

I've been cheating on posting-deadline. Pardon my ten days of absence.

You know what I'm always excited for when it comes to traveling? Obviously, photographs! Thinking what to wear on Day 1 to 10 has always been longer than planning the trip itself.

Alrighty, this time I was out of town, only was gone for a couple of days, but still!

I looked around and what I always thought is, "Time to change, that spot looks awesome."

I notice this awesome spot on the way back to my hotel room, right on a corner of that floor. It sort of resembles an elegant spot at a museum with grand carpet stairs – I'm talking about a tini-tiny museum. Or a photo atudio! I've been getting comments on how this spot looks like a studio. Yay for such an awesome hotel decor!

So I'm out of town, again. And as always (and as most bloggers probably are), I was more excited for the shoot more than I was for the vacay! Yay!

As the tagline said, when it comes to fashion, every details matter.

I probably wore the simplest outfit; 2 layers–not more, just a piece of knitted sweater and a pair of jeans; but the details rock. The cut-out detail on the back of the sweater and geometric patterns on the jeans are additional yet essential to the outfit.

The Super Zara Skort

I was gobsmacked and smirking at the same time when I first saw this skort on some big named bloggers before it gets contagious until today. Because I could see it coming!

Now? I'm getting used to it.

I was sooo thrilled when I first spotted this mighty fold over skort in Zara.

I just knew– I really did– that this was going to be huge.

Until I noticed some bloggers (and eventually all bloggers) wore it, I knew for sure how appealing this skort to so many eyes.

Perfect minimalist color, perfect wrap around detail.

Didn't plan this shoot at all; I should have add more layers and styling. Should've thrown my leather jacket on and put on a baseball cap. Was a bit in a hurry. Duh.

Anyway!

I couldn't barely control myself when I first recognize the upturn of shout-out-tees trend of the 90s! They charmingly came in plain white, and ranges of basic colors; still, amaze us with such a bold statement (well, they are all caps-lock).

As for me, introducing my 'LUCKY' tee. And how lucky we are to live in this era while embracing trends from the past. And how lucky Madonna was to actually live in that moment, well she still in fact is now, I mean– living in the moment. If only time machine was not that risky...

I'm no longer doubting my interest in head-to-toe white outfit, not even questioning how I'm really into monochromatic style.

So here it is. Outfit of the day. As simple as it seems.

Who doesn't know about this huge collaboration as it was one of the most awaited ones, for both the items and mostly the ad campaign, definitely! Repeat, this is not Kenzo official ad. The two of them are so brilliant that this concept shoot does actually look like a real Kenzo ad!

3 Wearable Trends to Try Before They're Gone

Challenge yourself in mixing more than a style in a look, you'll be pleased with the result. Take mine for an instance, this is the look I wanted to achieve with the combination of my boyish chunky sweater and sophisticated heels. Grunge with a touch of sophistication. Easy, eh?

Now talking about 3 trends worth to try before it's finally vanished.

When I first saw side stripe pants on a model, in a magazine, and online, I knew it would become a hit. And yes, my theory turns out to be true. Now that I'm infected and got so carried away, I started thinking of having this trend in all kinds.
Starting from these jeans.
These awesome, fashionable, premium denim jeans I found in a messy pile of pants in Zara. They're oxblood, they got black rubber stripe on each side, they're perfect!

Let's move on, because I still have so much to talk about.

See that fierce-looking fox on my sweater? That's trend number #2.
Even when the weather is boiling, I still couldn't leave this piece in the corner of my closet. In case you didn't know (I believe you do know), today world trendsetters are embracing their animal-instincts through fashion. No longer shown in patterns, now animal graphic items come in such a brand new fashionable way. Spotted top style bloggers and celebrities in Rottweiler pieces? Yes. They're Givenchy.

Last, not least, one of the biggest accessory trend this year, black bags–in my case, small black bag.
Just like what WhoWhatWear stated, "black is the new black". Versatile yet fashionable, what could possibly go wrong?

Obsessed – As a trend enthusiast, I've always made sure that I keep up with trends; broadening my awareness of what's in and out by flipping through stacks and stacks of magazines until my eyes hurt as well as walking through stores by stores until my feet hurt (and the shopkeepers recognize my face).

Presently, I've been hugely obsessed with BW trend with lines and lines of monochromatic statement pieces are all over the stores and online, from Zara to Asos. I don't see it as a huge deal until I realize how this two-toned trend can make such a statement with the simplicity itself. Some said this are investment pieces, but I don't completely believe so. There are excessively statement pieces in black and white, that I don't think will last forever – at least not until next year – the fact that fashion is fast-moving.
Here are my personal favorite picks of monochromatic items I currently own. And oh, please don't mind the neon detail.

Simply Chic? It's All About the Shoes

This fact might hurt to those who own a head-to-toe checklist when it comes to dressing up, but it is true.

Warning.

Even the most shabby outfit can look chic with a pair of killer shoes.
Have you noticed those street stylers or high-end fashion people who can simply and successfully bring off their effortless vibe in the fashion world, sometimes (even mostly) dress up so easily in such a simple style that we somehow hard to pull off?

Well, I wonder if the key must be their shoes.
We've seen them in sweaters and leather skirt, we've tried them on us too, but somehow we just don't see it their ways. I've come to a conclusion, it's definitely their shoes; it's absolutely because of those Alexander Wang boots and Valentino pumps. Dang it.

As the matter of fact, I personally think a pair of shoes as the most crucial element in an outfit. Though, I'm not talking about the brands or those high-end designer pairs, I'm talking about killer shoes. Yes. Those shoes that drag your whole attention down to them. Don't care if it is Zara or Valentino, H&M or Jimmy Choo, you can never go wrong with 'the it-shoes'; you'll nail their look just with a pair of power shoes. They compliment your whole look, emphasizes your style, yet giving a statement to your look. I believe so, because that's what happened to me all the time– every time I dress up! It's all about the shoes.

So. Try 'walking in their shoes', and see if you feel it.

Subtle Neon

I've absolutely no idea since when neon is a color, but well, it just is.

You know when you stumble upon the perfect neon, you just know it is. Just like this piece from H&M, this color is neither yellow nor green; it is neon–and true, the perfect one!

As I titled this post, this top has the most-not-irritating hue; the color is bold in the right way, not too much yet screams fashion.

I dare to say that this color's not man-repelling. Ha.

OSCARS Red Carpet Through Time

From the iconic Miss Hepburn in her 50s slash neckline dress to Amy's dramatic, fairytale Oscar de la Renta gown, Oscars certainly has been noted for the top celebrities in the era and their expertise–in dressing up of course–on the legendary Red Carpet. With their famous yet monotonous signature poses–from hand on hip, both hands on hip to the 'let me see the back' pose, these celebrities have somehow thrown their own party. Red Carpet has been the most awaited event of the show, instead of the show itself.

Been following her work for a while, I already am impressed with her presence in the blogging world as a newcomer. Hers is a style everyone just couldn't resist to follow; her brilliant eyes for fashion is something you would admire from her.

Hi Malena! First I’d like to say how I admire your work as a newcomer in fashion blogging! How did you get into fashion blogging?

Wow, that's a big compliment. Thank you so much! I've been wanting to start my own fashion blog ever since I got familiar with the phenomenon of fashion blogging, which is about 4 years ago. I was following some other bloggers and I was just so excited to start my own. A little over a year ago I finally had the courage to do so.

Your blog title is intriguing! What’s behind the title ‘Fashion Container’?

I was looking for a catchy and not too cliché title for my blog and "Fashioncontainer" just simply came into my mind after a bit of brainstorming. It doesn't have much meaning, except from the fact the title implies that the website contains fashion (wink).

What is your blogging routine? How do you usually come up with an idea for your post?

I mostly do outfit posts, so whenever I'm playing around with my clothes i just come up with another good outfit that I can photograph for my blog. Lately I've been wanting to do some more personal posts, so I try to share as much of my personal life with my readers as possible. Oh, and I always like it when my readers give me some guidance about what they want me to write about, it's so helpful!

I truly adore your fashion style; you always manage to look so chic in every post! What do you think is your personal trademark that we can’t find in anyone else?

Aw, thank you! I think I manage really good in wearing very low budget stuff, but looking like it has cost me a lot of money. Besides that, I think I'm very good at balancing an outfit with the right color combi's, mix of textures and accessories.

A leather jacket, a pair of coated jeans and black strappy heels.

You have been blogging for a year. What do you think is the best part of fashion blogging so far? What about the downside?
The best part of blogging for me is the feeling I have my own personal project and an outlet of my creativity. And let's be honest: getting free clothes and being featured in one of my favorite Dutch fashion magazines is also part of the good things of blogging (wink). The downside I’d say is the fact that blogging requires a lot of determination and perseverance. It seems a lot more glamorous than it actually is. You see beautiful pictures & outfits, but for me it means I've spend hours to pick the right outfit, photograph it at the right location and edit the pictures to perfection.

Who influence yourself in fashion? Do you have fashion icons that really inspired you?

I get inspiration from a lot of different sources: other bloggers, friends, people walking on the street. Simply checking out the new collection of a designer can give me plenty of inspiration for my own outfits as well.

Have you ever thought of working in the world of fashion? Perhaps a future career in fashion industry?

Yes, definitely! I have a law degree, but I've always wanted to something fashion related. I have plans to start my own online shop in a while and I'd love to work as a stylist as well.

For a blogger who has only been blogging for a year, you’re a star, definitely. Do you have any tips for new bloggers?

Thank you so much! That really means a lot to me. My number one advice would be: always make sure that whatever you post is the best quality possible. Never post for the sake of posting. Always be a perfectionist!

Is it just me or is everybody doing the same thing?
From shirt to a belt, turn top into dress, wear dress as a blouse, throw clothes backward like–back to front?

After a few trials, I made final decision that the neckline of this sweats is too low; the cutting is just unpleasant. So I began to try wearing it backwards and ever since, I always do that way! Look how nice it looks, now I got a low-cut back sweatshirt.

Well, it can't be a fashion crime though I guess. As long as it rocks, y not?

I got lots of words to say about this place I visited in Singapore, Garden by The Bay –many of you must have been heard of it before; but I'll save it for the next blog post!

I wasn't quite prepared about the outfit I was gonna wear, so I decided to throw on my peplum top and paired it with a leather skirt. Wasn't impressed with the look, I improvised; I then tucked my top into the skirt, sacrificing the peplum to get the whole look right. Well, sometimes we have to improvise, yes?

Or has it even become a new trend to change something with our own inclination?

First of all, no–this post won't be crowded with birds pictures.

I always find myself enjoying of being in the open. Sanctuaries like this must be conserved, they're sacred (I know... that's extreme, is it?)! Though I've been visiting bird park in some countries a few times, we were still loaded with curiosity to visit Kuala Lumpur Bird Park; moreover when this one turns out to be the biggest in the world. With this fact, realizing that it was gonna be a long walk, I threw up this comfortable white tee and simply add this light circle scarf (hey, it's blinged-up!) for final touch.

I was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for a few days, spending the rest of my late, 'last minute' holiday. The weather was nice, we were about to have a boat ride; an image of a sailor in blue and white outfit flashed in my head. Not necessarily portraying the iconic nautical stripes, or those epic neckties; I instead went for a simple denim shirt and white shorts. Although I don't quite look like one, I certainly got the feeling!

I'll begin with the sweetest yet the latest "Happy New Year 2013!" shout out from me. My bad of being so belated, I was out of the country twice for the last 2 weeks that I haven't had time for updates.

Anyway!

Let's start this year with a refreshing new closet! What I'm referring to is not necessarily 'new', but most importantly new in the term of organized. Not until the end of last year, that I believe most of your wardrobes–including me– eventually went to a stage where it needed to get a rearrangement. I got these wonderful tips that I found really useful for my closet. Some of these were found from some amazing websites I surfed vigorously 'till I fell asleep, some are mine. Hope these guides will give you a victory in upgrading your closet, because it does for me!

I found this simple yet effective tip from Real Simple; like a light bulb over my head, I know this is definitely the solution to my problem. Tired of always having my tops slipping off the hangers, using rubber bands to secure them is brilliant. Just wrap a band around each end of your hanger and tadaa, problem solved.

Knits are essentials in my wardrobe, I never wash it before I wear it for a few times. It's gross tough to put them back in my closet; so instead, I came up with a thought of separating them with my clean clothes, yet still keep them inside my closet. I found this canvas-suede box that is just perfect as a 'temporary' container for my 'half-clean, half-worn' clothes. The fabric is soft, it won't scratch my knits. Not only knitwear, I also wear my jeans for a couple times before washing them. I stack them as well in the box until it's time to wash!

I own pairs and pairs of suede boots, heels, until flats that they often get dusty after a couple of use. Whether you keep them in boxes or leave them without their box like I do, dusting your suede shoes before storing them is something you shouldn't miss. Brush them gently with a toothbrush; keep the brush in a clear bag so that you'll notice when it comes to replacing with a new one (err mine needs replacement). Simply keep it together with the shoes, inside your closet or the shoes box so that you can reach it easily.

Last Day in Turkey

It was the last day in Turkey, I was near to tears. The thought of leaving this country sucked.

We just got back to Istanbul last night and had a last visit to this large Topkapı Palace museum in the city. That was the primary residence of the Ottoman Sultans for approximately 400 years (1465-1856) of their 624-year reign (wikipedia.com).

Turns out the party wasn't over yet. One last thing to do before heading home? Shopping.
At Grand Bazaar? Perfection! With over 3,000 shops all over the place, 3 hours wouldn't be enough, though. However, what a proper way to say goodbye, wasn't it?

Hear me out Turkey, I'll definitely come back! How couldn't I?
People said Paris is the city of love; but for me, Turkey really did steal my heart.
