K R I S T I I N A

finalist 2015

noreply@blogger.com (K R I S T I I N A) — Sat, 20 Aug 2016 17:02:00 +0000

I know I know
It is 2016!

But my blog life has been on hold a while.

Life changed.
I moved from West to East.
I became single parent.
I didn´t have a job.
I didn´t have a home.

I simply had to take care of things.

Somehow in the middle of all this messy world I could get a grip of myself
and handle at least one thing, my love for art.
I managed to be in the group of five finalists of the Artist of the Year 2015 in
the Swede Finn Artists´Association. The finals was held at the Finnish Ambassy in Stockholm.

I realize that maybe you don´t understand the article but I am so proud that I managed to get so far as this, even though life had been a bit of a rough ride.

Maybe there are not so many reading this, I am not sure, but if there is someone out there, I want to just say to you, that if life´s not being good on you, hang in there, it will get easier, just give it time.

All the best for all the art lovers out there!!

Love
Kristiina

It´s me to the right. Titti Hammarling is the winner 2015.

Cottage for sale in Varberg, Sweden

noreply@blogger.com (K R I S T I I N A) — Sun, 14 Apr 2013 08:20:00 +0000

Allotment-
my second creative home-
my little cottage getaway
is
for sale.
I am moving so it has to be
done.
I am tremendously so sorry about this.
Will cry my eyeballs out
when
giving away the key to
the next fortunate
owners.
A part of my heart will
go missing.

Just wanted you to know.

After Easter Feelings

noreply@blogger.com (K R I S T I I N A) — Wed, 10 Apr 2013 07:47:00 +0000

I don´t really like Eater Decorations
so I made my own ones to decorate my home with.
Here some pics from my home and things that
put me into spring mood.

I just adore my deer clock I bought a few years back.
Makes me smile.

Eggs in middle. (my art)

Here it is still hanging...

The boy´s head. I love children...Hard not to love this little head.

A favourite corner in the flat.

I found a big brush that I simply stuck into some concrete...

...and added a little detail.

I collected seaweed and embedded an egg there. Safe!

I just had to go on with the egg-theme so I made a little group of eggs.

Three eggs in a row...Another idea. Keep together!

Hope you enjoyed!

I miss my old studio.
It was perfect for my art.

...but I will try my best without it.

Not Whine.

Just work.

And enjoy the moment.

There will always be space

Life´s pretty busy
and as usual I am
into many different
arty projects.
As to this "busyness"
one needs to calm
down at times-
contemplate, and
ignore the fact that
next thing is around
the corner.

Relax and enjoy life!

At work. My students and I are visiting the Art Hall.

A little exhibition with my paintings in an eco-shop out on the countryside.

I made a himmeli in plaster.

I am experimenting with fake aquatint.

I hung Silja I this Sunday

noreply@blogger.com (K R I S T I I N A) — Sun, 03 Mar 2013 11:32:00 +0000

Last time when I was at Siljaline,
between Sweden and Finland,
I saw this couple, totally devoted
to each other and their dancing.
I loved watching them.
Now I am into these dancing images
and I simply
can´t stop!

Have discovered fake aqautint which
is a great technique if you don´t have
enough equipment for the real one.
One needs an air-brush compressor, ink and
white tempera paint.

I tried this technique on my collages.
I had to make a few layers of lacquer until
I got the ink to get stuck onto the canvas.
I need to refine this technique a bit more but
here you see the result from my experiments.

Nature´s Art

noreply@blogger.com (K R I S T I I N A) — Sun, 18 Nov 2012 16:39:00 +0000

Sunday contemplation.

Nature is fantastic.
The details. The colors.
The stillness.

I have had a really tough time
these last few months but still, I am
so happy for all those walks in the
woods, down the beach and just from
home to work.
There is somehow a consolidation in these
walks. Nature´s art speaks and heals.

Autumn love to all of you. <3
//Kristiina More Sunday pics at FABRIKEN.

Ladder. Oils on canvas. 25x120.

The lovely colors of autumn can give a colorful framing to gray days of the loss of loved ones.

The ray of light hits the details in the grass and lightens up the morning walk.

This is simply just beautiful art.

...Or nature´s way of showing drama.

...Or nature´s way of smiling at you!

reminder

noreply@blogger.com (K R I S T I I N A) — Tue, 23 Oct 2012 13:26:00 +0000

Just came home from a trip to Finland.
It brought lots of memories to my
mind. Especially the ones about color
and smell.

One painting that really expresses
this is the one shown here.
-It´s a dragon fly.

I remember me being a little girl. I had just
arrived to our summer cottage in Finland.
It was a hot day and I went to down to the
sand road.
Suddenly a dragon fly appeared, flew really
close and I got scared- and I mean really scared.
I started running and I ran all over but
the dragon fly just followed me where ever I ran
so the more I ran it followed which got me
into a more intense feeling of panic.

This painting hangs above the stairs.
Some people see the forms and color and
after a while realize that there is a shape of some
kind of a fly. My daughter actually said that
she did not discover the fly until after a few days.
I guess this is what I want to accomplish-
the feeling of it being there but in a way not.

The question is.
Do I really want to see the dragon fly since I am
scared of it?

//Kristiina

a sneaky peek

noreply@blogger.com (K R I S T I I N A) — Wed, 17 Oct 2012 08:03:00 +0000

Take a sneaky peek...

Yep.
I give you the permission
to open your eyes properly
now.
Here´s a peek on my recent
project which is to do with
my way of relating to my
country
of origin, Finland.

I am a Swede-Finn, which
is not to be a "real" Finn.
Although there are many
things, so called references,
that combine
me with the Finns and that is
how I am brought up, the Finnish
way of life, the traditions, the food,
the language...and so on.
But still- I am not considered as
real Finn according to my
neighboring friends.

Every summer, when I was little
and up to my teens
my family went to
spend the summer in Finland.
I was a kind of a stranger but in
heart I was not. This was also my
space, my world, my dreams.
I am proud of all the things
that I experienced because
that really brought me even closer
to my 'origin' country.

In my paintings I try to explore
the inner thoughts, memories and
feelings. Time stands still or is floating,
maybe a little faded at times but
the memory is there, reminding
me of the places I have visited,
the people I have met and the strong
connection I have with this country
which in a way is so far from here.

This is project I do with Christelle Mas
(French artist living in Finland)
and Leena Kangas (Finnish artist
living in Finland).
Fun- and at the same time interesting to
see how three different artists have
interpreted same theme but from three
totally different angles.
The project is called "Origin. Original. Originally."

noreply@blogger.com (K R I S T I I N A) — Sun, 14 Oct 2012 17:52:00 +0000

Oh well,
here comes a little update.
I am a bit tired but
that´s part of life.

See ya.
//Kristiina

My attempt to please some creative people at FABRIKEN.

Yes yes yes. the ones who has not seen pics from the cottage. I have been there now to prepare for winter. So all pots and plants must go into the green house before the frosty nights come along.

I am still enjoying the light inside the cottage. It is nice to experience the summery feelings even though one knows that winter is on it´s way...

My life has been a bit tangled... This hanging made by one of my art students really represents what I have been feeling lately...

And this is what I want it to end up like!

I did a little artistic approach last week with this little painting to a man (who you can see on the right hand lower corner). This is a painting for his 50th birthday. Can you see what he likes to do?

It is a fantastic store with varied
of interior pieces. The owners
are really artistic and one can

everything and mixed the new with

I have moved from my art

fortunately I can go to

I simply had to sit down and
do some creative stuff.
Will show soon.

My move from the studio meant paintings everywhere in my house.

white bucket

noreply@blogger.com (K R I S T I I N A) — Fri, 21 Sep 2012 19:33:00 +0000

See the beauty in everything-
are words that I really can recognize
myself in.
You see, when I was clearing out the
studio in the big move I discovered that
I can get stupidly attached to very odd
things. One was, for instance, this white
paint bucket, which in fact, was totally
empty from any white paint what so ever
but I thought it seemed so beautiful with its
stains and dots from paint. The thing is that
I considered to keep the bucket!
I know I know I know.
Anyway, I threw it away. Before that I had
to take a
few photos. Although now I feel even more
stupid that
I even took the photos but here we go.
Here it is-
the white bucket.

Sunday arr

noreply@blogger.com (K R I S T I I N A) — Sun, 16 Sep 2012 09:06:00 +0000

My living room has been occupied
with half of my studio (since the big move)
and gee, I feel cramped and want to get
started with arranging a little space of my own.
There are a few other things to deal with first so
my studio space has to wait a little.

In the meanwhile I thought to make some
arrangements with a few paintings so I´d
not lose the creativeness.

So this is my contribution to
photo challenge Sunday image at Fabriken.

Enjoy Sunday!
//Kristiina

Just playing around with composition a little.
Here´s the painting "Same but Different", 50x100, mixed media and the little painting is "Girl with Apple", 15x15, screen print.

Hi there!
I have been to an amazing interior shop
today. With me I had a few boxes of
paintings which are to be sold there.
I will go back soon to take some pics
for you!!

Now I have to tell you that I´ve
got the most awesome job ever!
I have so many privileges! For instance,
this Tuesday my students and I went to
see the art works by the Norwegian
artist Olav Christopher Jenssen.
After a tour we participated in a workshop-
and I joined the group. I sure tell you that I was
more enthusiastic than ever- I just love
to create without any strings- just sit and
do things with your hands is fantastic.
This really made my whole week!

I hope you can find something to do that makes
you happy!

//Kristiina

h h hi!!
Sister II. Mixed media. 25x25.

A tour this Tuesday at the city hall gallery and Olav Christopher Jenssen´s art.

By the way Olav Christopher Jenssen´s sculptures were hung they created a feeling of being in the woods surrounded by these floating objects.

Inspired by the exhibition my students (and I) headed to do some art.

Can you see what the source of inspiration was? ;)
