Today Brooke and Scott are getting married and we’re SO excited to be there with them.  Brooke sent me a text at 6:30am this morning saying, “Happy Wedding Day!”   I can remember that excited, butterfly feeling I had the morning Joe and I got married.  There are few things better than that feeling.

We met Brooke when she starred as a bridesmaid in Heather and Chris’s wedding, which we shot in 2010, but we didn’t get to meet Scott until their University of Washington engagement session this past fall.  The two of them together are all laughs, hilarity and sticky sweetness.  Today is going to be an amazing day at the Salish Lodge and the dramatic, slightly stormy weather will only add to the beauty of the area.  Off to have some fun…

After our first happy hour date we knew working with Christine and Adam would be amazing. They are hilarious, down-to-earth and incredibly stylish.  Dare I say they are a perfect couple??  Of course their wedding followed-suit.  There were so many touching moments, tears to share, doubled-over laughter and the best reception dancing we’ve seen in a long time. Not only was it an honor to share this day with them, but couldn’t have had more fun doing it.  Now we’re patiently waiting for our second happy hour date with the Mr. & Mrs. Perfect.

We spent one of the hottest days of the summer with Amanda and Steve and it couldn’t have been better.  We were in downtown Seattle for the early part of the day, which was a blast for fun urban shots.  Then we got to head to Queen Anne for the quintessential shots of Seattle from Kerry Park.   As if those two locations weren’t enough to spur our creative juices, they got married in Ballard at the Shilshole Bay Beach Club!  The weather was perfect, there was a lovely breeze and there were even a few musicians at the public beach adding to the ambiance.  Everything about their day was easy and celebrated with gusto.  Here’s to more weddings like theirs!

Kassandra and Aaron turned their wedding day into a unique event that completely represented both of their personalities and it turned out AMAzing.  Kassandra painted and adorned her wedding day shoes with feathers, bows and jewels and had the most creative bouquet made entirely of broaches.  Gorgeous!  Their cake had a bride and groom fighting off bloody zombies and Kassandra walked down the isle to the theme song from Star Wars.  There were so many other touches that made their day unique, it would take me all day to list them.

I have known Kassandra for a long time and am thrilled she’s found a partner that matches her wit, intelligence and zest for life. I’m positive this lifetime has many adventures in store for these two.

Joe and I love shooting weddings for a million reasons, but the biggest is we love to capture and celebrate love with people who feel it deeply.  Beth and Rob are so incredibly in love it seems to seep into everyone in their presence.  You could nearly taste the width and depth of their love at their intimate DeLille Cellars wedding.  I believe there was more laughter and tears of joy shared at this wedding than any other we’ve attended.  The sweetest thing is that these two knew each other in high school, but it wasn’t their time yet.  They were destined to reunite later in life, which appears to have been a perfect plan.  We are so blessed to have witnessed the magic they create together.

Recently I posted images from Lissa & Will’s engagement session and told you a little about the last minute shuffling they had to do in order to pull their wedding off.  With the cards stacked against them, I can’t tell you how impressed I was with how perfectly their wedding day went.  It was fun, beautiful, heartfelt and relaxed.  My wish for every couple is they experience their wedding day in this way.

My favorite moment of the day was at the end of the reception.  Everyone was on the dance floor shaking their booties, everyone except Lissa and Will. They were in the center of it all, but slow dancing to their own song.  It was one of those moments when it was clear they were the only two people in the room. With all the flurry of guests, dances, toasts and a million other traditions on your wedding day, it is hard to find the space to enjoy moments like the one they shared on the dance floor.  I’m adding moments like this to my wish list for every couple on their wedding day.

Wow… it’s hard to know where to start with Margaret and Travis’s wedding.  We had the first FULL day of sunshine we’d seen in months and we were at the Daybreak Star Center, which overlooks Discovery Park and the water below.  You can’t get a better setting than that.

Margaret is part of the Tlingit Tribe and planned a beautiful adoption and naming ceremony to induct Travis into the tribe.  During the ceremony Travis was presented with his new tribal name as well as a hand made vest with the animal representation of his name on the back.  Other gifts were presented to both of Travis’s parents as well as to Margaret.  The craftsmanship of all these items was truly stunning.  After the gifts were presented a dance performance commenced in honor of Travis and the happy couple on their wedding day.  Joe and I were left speechless with gratitude for the opportunity to be present and photograph such a special event.

And THEN we got to photograph their wedding!  Every detail throughout their day was as beautiful and thoughtfully planned as the adoption ceremony.  The love and respect Margaret and Travis share for each other is undeniable and quite inspiring.

We had originally scheduled to shoot Amanda and Steve’s engagement session on a Sunday evening, however with all the rain this winter/spring/summer has blessed us with, we ended-up rescheduling it to the following night and praying for anything less than a sprinkle.

In less than 19 hours Lissa and Will are getting married at the gorgeous Sander’s Mansion!  These two have gone through so much trying to get their wedding planned to perfection.  Not long after they set their wedding date, Will got a promotion and a transfer to Nevada. They had to move and do it PRONTO.  Then, while they were in the middle of planning their wedding from another state, the venue they signed their contract with was foreclosed on.  Aaaah.  Can you imagine?  They had to find a new location with less than 5 months before their set date AND do it from another state!  It wasn’t easy, but they finally secured Sander’s Mansion, however they had to choose a different date to get married.  There were only a few left.  Fortunately their invites hadn’t gone out yet and the dust settled perfectly.  So here we are, the first AMAZing weekend of the summer and their wedding day will be perfect.  Strange how things work out that way isn’t it?
