Jones Wedding :: Tying the Knot

Kristin and Andrew were nothing short of wonderful to work with. They live in Florida, so when Kristin contacted me everything was via email and phone…until December when they came to STL for the holidays and we did their Engagement Session. Kristin has such a bubbly personality...I’m pretty sure that she smiles 99% of the time. Andrew was personable and patient with the all the pictures and that's a big order for most grooms. {grin} There wedding was at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Old Monroe, MO. It was a GREAT day and I’m sure you’ll agree that Kristin made a beautiful bride! I have to say that one of the highlights of the day was going to a little bar in Old Monroe with the bridal party. What a fun bunch! There were lots of laughs and it was clear that it was only the beginning of a memorable reception. Kristen and Andrew…I wish you the absolute best and thank you for allowing me to capture your BIG day.

Amelia's 6 Month Session :: Babies

All I can say is that Amelia just keeps getting cuter and cuter! She is just ADORABLE! For her 6 month session, we decided to go to St. Charles. Now…weather was pretty unpredictable that day…and it was colder then I had hoped, but we decided to give the session a go. {grin} Would you believe that as soon as we started, the rain became steady? I had to think fast. I spotted a porch of a business that was closed and said let’s go there. There was a fun colors door and brick…so the backgrounds/textures I was hoping for were there. Amelia was FANTASTIC! We all know that little ones have a shorter attention span….so it’s hard to know when “their done”. {smiles} I think it’s safe to say that with the cold, the rain and an outfit change…she lasted about 50 minutes and I thought that was pretty remarkable! GO AMELIA! I’ve posted some of my favorites from her session. In looking at these images, I’m reminded of why I love capturing children! It’s priceless capturing a child being a child….the wonder, the smiles, the looking off moments is what makes the image speak. Enjoy!

The one thing I love about the monthly What to Wear palette’s is that there is such variety in the colors and how well they work each other. This month’s colors scream Spring. Taking the vibrant blues and combing them with peach and violet is a great idea! I also like the mix of denim with a casual dress. …and don’t forget the endless ability of accessorizing! It can be a simple as a pop or color with a necklace…as shown below or putting a little newsie hat on one of the kids. Accessories are your friend! Be sure to schedule your Spring Session before it comes and goes. {grin}

Taking on NYC

I hadn’t been home for a visit in about a year and a half and really need a breather from my job and a variety of things that bog us down from time to time. I recognized the need and desire to spend time with my family and finally acted on it. {smiles} Now, my family lives in NJ and are only 20 minutes outside of NYC so as you can imagine….I made it a priority to spend time in the city. I love it…the sounds, the smells, the sights, and even the tastes! It’s a rush for me and I feel right at home! It can be a little intimidating to pull out my camera and lenses, but I did capture some images and shared a few below. I seemed to capture more with my IPhone, so I’ve put some of them below (second image down) as well…I collaged/grouped them together since they are all Instagram images. {grin} Highlights from my trip would be the afternoon spent in the upper west end of Manhattan having lunch at Arties and dessert at Magnolia’s Bakery, going to Wooster Street Social Club (home of NY INK), the hour long wait in line to go into Carlo’s Bakery (aka: Cake Boss), going to River Street to see the skyline of NYC and spending a morning in Times Square. IT WAS A FANTASTIC TRIP...but obviously the time spent with my family was priceless!! Maybe through the images below you can get a glimpse of the energy contained within' the concrete jungle of New York City. {smiles}

Courtney & Josh :: E Session

Courtney and Joshua were introduced to each other several years back through mutual friends. Then in December of 2011, Courtney's roommate hosted a game night. Joshua and Courtney reconnected at the game night. They started talking that month. Talking led to dating. Dating led to love and love led to spending the rest of their lives together. {grin} Now although I don’t know Courtney well, I was delighted when she contacted me about engagement pictures. You would not know in seeing these pictures, but it was pretty cold that day and there was still spots of snow on the ground. Regardless, the session was great! I loved the colors they chose and how well they worked with the background and textures. Below are a few of my favorites...enjoy! ...and here's wishing Courtney and Josh the best.....their wedding date is October 19, 2013.

Spring has sprung and it’s evident as color is bursting everywhere! I love the transition from Winter to Spring….it’s like watching earth come to life! In saying that…I love this color palette because it contains colors that represent Spring with a splash of earth tones as well. A GREAT combination! I don’t know about you, but it’s fun seeing all the colors in stores right now. I’ve really stretched myself this year in getting outside of my comfortable “earth tone” place and have bought vibrant colors like corral, yellow, that great green that has become such a trend! If you’re like me in sticking with colors that are comfortable….I’m going to challenge you to get out there and buy one bright piece! You won’t regret it! {I’m not kidding} So, what are you waiting for? Go shopping! ….well, book a Spring session first! It’s hard to believe Spring is upon us already, but I think most would agree that we’re ready for the warmer weather. I’m a little behind on blogging to date, but rather than try to catch up...I’m going to just post a couple things here and there and get back into “blog mode”. When I saw that my last post was in December, I chuckled a bit and then rolled my eyes. What was I thinking? I’m pretty sure, it was the holidays, taking an extended vacation and taxes….or at least that sounds good anyways. {smiles} Well, I have two What to Wear’s to share from January and February. They may be late, but hey….they’re guaranteed to inspire because the beautiful thing about “what to wear” ideas is that they are idea generators year round. {grin} The first one pictures below was for January and I absolutely love the color pop of the corral! These colors will be sure to make your session images pop! …and this color palette would be great for Spring sessions! The second one pictured is for February and all I can say is that I love, love, love the kelly green in this palette. I have a lot of this color in my wardrobe right now. {big smile} The pink and navy blue really compliment the green, so these colors are a great combination! I always try to hint on the fact that accessories had wonders to an outfit and even images! I know that some people would disagree, but I could show you image after image where a scarf or necklace….make an image pop or add that element that makes the image WOW! So, be inspired and if you haven’t scheduled a session…inquire today!

Happy December! This is my favorite time of year! I love Winter...and Christmas!! This months What to Wear really speaks to the "holidays". I love red and black! Red is so vibrant...and the gray, tan and ivory add even more depth! If you are looking to have more formal images this holiday, you'll find inspiration in the outfits below. I always enjoy the opportunity of capturing my twin sister and her husband. However, I cannot deny that my sister is THEE toughest client I have. She is P-I-C-K-Y. {grinning} Now anyone who knows me knows that I am pretty picky when it comes to photographing my clients, but my sister....she takes picky to another level. {love you kel!!! smirks!} The truth is that the sessions always go GREAT and I get AMAZING shots!! This session was no different. Kel and Steve have a natural ability to just be themselves and not over think things. After their session, we went and got the dogs and drove to another park. Below are my favorites! If I could, I would post them all, but that would be overkill! Enjoy!!!

This was a two-fold session. Carly turned one {that's just crazy to think about...where did the year go?} and we wanted to capture new portraits of the kids and then capture some family pictures as well. As a photographer, you build relationships with your clients and there are those families that you have the privielage of watching grow! I've been capturing the Rogans for a few years now and always look forward to their sessions! They're such a delight! I also have a special place for them as they have twin daughters! Being a twin, it's fun to see their relationship in action! Makes me think back when I was younger and the fun my twin and I had. Below are some highlights from their session. Have you booked your Fall/Winter session yet? Well, if you have....here a color palette to consider. The colors are vibrant and look GREAT together. Actually, I just did a family session and this was the colors they went with! The purples, pinks and blue in their outfits looked GREAT! Furthermore, these colors would work well in any setting. I recently read a blog where the writer made a statement about "coordinating" outfits rather than "matching" them and I couldn't have agreed more!! If you coordinate, there is more variety and everything does look blended. These outfits depict that perfectly! ...and hey, the session isn't about your clothes...it's about capturing relationships, moments, love! I mean, sure you want to look GREAT, but I would rather someone be drawn to an image for the emotion rather then your outfit. Enjoy!

The James Family takes on the STL Arch

This was one of the funnest family sessions I've done this year for several reasons, but what I LOVED most about it was that it was "outside the box". When Andria contacted me, she stated that her family was "fun" and liked to have a good time and wanted their session to reflect that. I put my thinking cap on and thought that since her kids were older, the Arch could be a GREAT place for FUN! This session was more about capturing their relationship as a family rather then looking pretty at the camera. {smiles} Don't get me wrong, those pictures are great too, but lifestyle shots speak more to emotions and ultimately, it's my passion. This family nailed it on all levels....their outfits, colors and enjoying themselves! We shared a lot of laughs and I think these capture this family well! These are some of my favorites! ...and on the last image, Andria wanted to capture all the children reflecting their passions. LOVED IT! Thank you James family! It was a pleasure!

My absolute favorite season has arrived {do you hear the cheering in the crowds?!}!! Yep, that's right - Fall! It is the one season that I wish lasted longer. The colors, brisk air, festivities, foliage, scents, boots, scarves, apple crisp...and well, I could go on and on. {smiles} In saying all that, here is a Fall What to Wear to inspire you in putting together fantastic attire. I've had several fall sessions already and love when clients arrive in colors or even just a pop of color! Can you imagine the joy of having clients in great color against vibrant fall colors? It's BEAUTIFUL! The colors in this palette are vibrant and rich! I really like the pop of colors paired with the dark denim and/or brown pants. It brings the combination perfect balance...wouldn't you agree.

Jamie has been trying to get this session scheduled for some time now, so I think we were all excited the morning we met. The weather was great and everyone was ready for smiles! Addie and Taylor :: Belly Love

Addie and Taylor are expecting their first baby this month, so having the opportunity to capture a "Belly Love" session was nothing short of a pleasure! They were as sweet as can be and were up for anything. .....and I say that because Addie was up and down and did more walking then I'm sure was expecting, but did it all with a smile! I couldn't have asked for a better time of day! I loved the light and the background was pretty great too!! I think there tends to be a different energy with couples who are expecting their first baby....there is an anticipation and excitement knowing that life is about to change in a significant way by welcoming new life into this BIG world! There is nothing like watching the interaction between a father and his daughters and this trio was no exception. They were full of life, love and laughter! {smiles} I can’t begin to tell you how much I {heart} “lifestyle” shots. There is something about capturing a moment that reflects true emotion and expression. It’s a moment that speaks to “real life” and those moments ALWAYS bring a smile to my face…and it’s a BIG smile!! In saying that, there are two images below that reflect "lifestyle". They are a couple of my favorite images from the time spent capturing this trio. Typically when viewers visit my blog, they see the images and read what I share about the session…but I'll be honest in saying that usually there is more to be said which would give you more insight and appreciation for the images. This dad has a BIG heart and has faced some extraordinary situations which makes me appreciate these images that much more. Thank you for the opportunity Kaid family...it was a privelage!

Michael Turned ONE!!!

This little guy has been a joy to watch grow since I captured his newborn session. When we met up at Faust Park and I saw Michael, I was like…”look at you!! …and all that blonde hair!” He looked at me with a HUGE smile and I just melted! I mean, seriously….how couldn’t I melt at this handsome little man! …and that blue polo!! Good grief…watch out Ralph Lauren! {big grin} I think that the wagon was hit! Not only did it compliment his outfit, but he loved the wagon and you can tell he was enjoying himself! The Weber’s have been a pleasure to work with and are such a beautiful family. Yet another reminder of why I love what I do and that children and families hold a special spot to my heart when it comes to captures!

Carly's 9 Month Session: Babies

I cannot believe how big Carly is getting and this session celebrated her 9 month milestone! When Amber {Carly’s mom} contacted me about scheduling her session, she mentioned that she wanted to approach this session and capture images that reflect “a day in the life of Carly”. I was a little unsure how it would work in an hour, but then I thought….why not? It was an “out of the box idea” and I’m all about different! {smiles} So….as you can see below, we captured Carly dressed up, playing, and having a bath! It was fun and I Carly did GREAT! That’s a lot for a 9month old to do in an hour! ….seriously, I would have been exhausted if I were her. {I’m not kidding…lol!} Carly has a wonderful personality….she is intrigued, amused and full of the sweetest personality. The Chisholm Family

This session was yet another GREAT session with the Chisholm Family. We captured these images at LaFayette Park in STL and I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this park! I love all the color, textures, paths, etc! Little Jonah is a doll to capture and always makes me smile with his little smile…well, really it’s quite big! I think Jonah is full of facial expressions and it’s fascinating. I’m always tell his parents that he is indeed a little man! When I pulled out the mustache on the stick…it was too cute! Jonah was intrigued, but quickly figured out what he needed to do with it! {absolutely ADORABLE!} To pick a favorite image from this session would be difficult, but I wanted to share a few of my favorites. Thank you Chisholm family…it’s always such a pleasure!!
