New job..New challenges

Yesterday was my first day at the new job. I spent the morning getting to know people, and then in the afternoon I started reading documents to get an overview of what the organisation does.

This job is completely different from my previous job, so everything is new to me, and I still have to get used to lots of things and procedures. However, from what I have been reading up to now, EU projects look interesting, and I think this job will bring with it new opportunities and new challenges. What I am really looking forward to is the opportunity to get training and to travel.

Today, a person who is leaving soon is going to give me a handover, so today I will get a taste of what my tasks will be. I hope I will get used to these tasks quickly, so that I can settle down as soon as possible.

The day has come - this morning I start my new job I woke up with a splitting headache - probably it’s because of the anxiety of starting the new job. I hope I’ll be feeling better by the time I start work.

For today only, I start work at 9am, but then I will be starting work at 7.30am (Summer) and 7.45am (Winter)!! In my other job I had the same working hours, but obviously I was working much closer to home. Now I have more distance to travel in the morning, which means I will have to get up earlier

Yesterday I took the decision - I resigned from work! I had been working here for exactly 11 months, but another opportunity came along, and after much thought and consideration, I decided to just take the risk, resign from work, and start a new job This new job is completely different from what I am doing now, so I will have to start from scratch again, but hopefully this will be a good decision. I have another 2 weeks working here, since I have 2 weeks notice, and then I start work at the new place. I will be working with a government Ministry, but I still don’t know which one!

Here are some quotations, which my bf sent me yesterday, when I was really panicked and worried about taking the decision. He has been really supportive and encouraged me to take on this new challenge.

Well…here I am…5am and I have already been up since around 3.30am. I can’t sleep. Last Monday I posted a link about an article related to ‘Decisions‘. I wasn’t expecting to be faced with that situation so soon…since yesterday I have been trying to take a decision. But, as usual, I have fear..I am afraid of deciding..afraid of the unknown, and afraid of taking action and starting something new. I think for once I should just do it - and hope for the best

To succeed in life, one must learn to make decisions and learn from them. Whether the decisions end up right or wrong. We can charge that to experience.

If you need some ideas or tips about what to cook, then I recommend visiting this website, which I just discovered. I’m sure you will find yummy and delicious dishes and meal ideas to try out! I think the search facility, allowing you to enter ingredients and finding relevant recipes, is really helpful

Last week I also came across another good recipes website, which also includes videos.

I have already bookmarked them, as I’m sure they will be good reference in the near future, when I will have to start cooking for myself and my future husband

Longing for..nice weather

Just when I thought that nice and warm weather was here to stay…today I woke up and found grey weather and a very very windy day ahead. According to the local weather website,

The Southeast wind will be strong over the Maltese Islands and locally very strong to gale force 8 over the exposed areas.

Oh well..seems like it’s not yet time to put away all Winter clothes after all! At least last weekend we had great weather though, especially on Saturday!

Free books for your journey in London

Here’s an interesting concept I just read about on Londonist - Choose What You Read.

This initiative is being encouraged by a not for profit organisation, and they loan books out and only ask that people return them when they’re done, so they can be read again by someone else. They encourage readers to add their name to the front of each book to build up a community of bibliophiles - like Bookcrossing, for commuters.

Bartering at the pub!

Whilst reading the news this morning, I came across this article about how a pub owner has started to accept goods and services in exchange for beers, hoping to attract customers who are struggling during the credit crunch. Who would have thought that such an idea would work? Apparently it did though!

Lazy blogger

Unfortunately, I have realised that I have become a lazy blogger! Whereas before I used to post links or stuff I come across, nearly every day, now I am going through a phase where I barely post something once in a month! Thing is sometimes I go through phases where I can’t seem to find something interesting to say, or to post about. Could be that I am going through a bad phase in my life, where I don’t seem to be motivated at all! I can’t seem to enjoy doing the things I enjoyed doing up to a year ago, before I started working! I am stuck in work routine! I can’t read a whole book - I start reading the first chapter and leave the book on the shelve for months! I lost interest in the TV series, which I so enjoyed watching!

The only thing I enjoy doing is going out for long walks during my lunch break and in the evening - it helps me relax and enjoy the nice weather and the blossoming flowers

I need to get back on track..and fast!
