The Parnell oil-tax bill – or versions of it – continue to get attention in the House after passing the Senate.  There are bills in both Houses dealing with natural gas, but do they have any prospects for passage? Senate Majority leader John Coghill says he doesn’t expect a resolution containing a constitutional amendment that would allow state aide to parochial and private schools to pass this year. The US Coast Guard is asking the Justice Department to investigate possible environmental violations by the Shell drilling rigs that were in Alaska waters last year.

Conservative lawmakers have proposed legislation that would require welfare recipients to submit to drug and alcohol tests. New analysis show that health-care costs are slowing down. State Representative Lindsey Holmes is still facing a recall.  Is there a gas shortage in Southcentral’s future?
