The papers say Tony and Windy Friend are suspects in the 'homicide of the Porter's'. This may be Becky and Rusty Porter who vanished from their home near Willard last year. Their remains were found in the mark Twain National Forrest weeks later. There have been no arrests and no charges filed in connection with those murders. 

The Greene County Sheriff, in a press release, says this investigation is on-going and says he cannot comment on the link.

In reference to Case Number, GCPA file #077243869 and 077243870, Tony L. Friend, and Windy D. Friend, information was stated that "Defendant is the primary suspect in the Porter homicide". This case is an ongoing investigation and the Greene County Sheriff's Office can not make a statement regarding any allegations or the continuing investigation of this case, along with any information on Federal or State court records.

No meth lab and no bomb, but bomb and drug teams took no chances at a house off JJ Highway between Ozark and Sparta.

The homeowner says he let a man live in a shed out back where the girlfriend found a tank hanging from a hook and wires from ithe tank wrapped around the doorknob. 

Christian County Sheriff Joey Kyle says the bomb squad has determined the tank was no explosive, but rather made to look like a booby-trap. 

The man living in the shed has a history of drugs.  He has not been arrested.

The Springfield Fire Department's bomb squad is using two special robots to check out a possible bomb found in a shed at a home off Highway-JJ in Christian County.

A woman tells Assistant KTTS News Director Nancy Simpson that her boyfriend lives in the home between Ozark and Sparta.

She says he was just trying to be nice to a friend by letting him move into the shed. But when she went out to check on him, she says the windows were all blacked out.

She says she could see a propane tank hanging from the ceiling with wires sticking out, and that's when she called 911.

Christian County Sheriff Joey Kyle tells KTTS News deputies checked out the building and saw a possible bomb inside. That's when they left and got a warrant.

The ATF is helping with the investigation while crews try to figure out if it's a bomb.

The woman says she feels betrayed that someone would do something like that to her boyfriend.

Sheriff's deputies are also checking to see if the building might be housing a meth lab.

Southern Stone County firefighters say the man may have been suffering from a medical condition when he fell off his bike near Specialized Marine.

He was riding with a group of motorcyclists from Texas at the time.

Court papers filed May 25 say the Marlboro, N.J., boy was hospitalized for three days earlier this year because of diarrhea, stomach injuries and pain.

Officials have said humans could pick up the bacteria by handling infected dog food, then failing to wash their hands before eating or handling their own food. 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say 15 people were sickened across the country earlier this year because of salmonella at the Diamond Pet Foods plant in Gaston.

The facility was closed for a month, and the company says it has fixed the problem.

The repair work of up to $20 million goes to companies from Poplar Bluff, Little Rock, and Hickman, Kentucky.

Corps Memphis District commander Colonel Vernie Reichling said Thursday that other contracts will be awarded this year to repair flood damage near the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio rivers in Kentucky and Illinois.

The corps breached the Birds Point levee in May 2011 to lower the water level, in part to save neighboring Cairo, Illinois.

The breach damaged 130,000 acres of Missouri farmland and several dozen homes.

Rachel N. Gannon of Platte City was sentenced Thursday to 48 hours of "shock time," 72 days of house arrest, five years of probation and 300 hours of community service.

She also must pay a $200 fine for violating a state law that prohibits texting while driving for those under age 21. 

The Kansas City Star reports the girl pleaded guilty to second-degree involuntary manslaughter in the September 2011 death of 72-year-old Loretta Larimer of Camden Point.

Larimer's granddaughter was injured in the accident. 

Prosecutors said Gannon was sending texts, looking at her phone and listening to loud music before her car slammed into Larimer's vehicle.

The sheriff says it's not yet known if there's a meth lab in there, too.

The co-op says its possible a lightning strike hit a transformer.

Utility crews had the power back on by 9:30 a.m.

The company says a transformer on Highway FF was probably struck by lightning when storms rumbled through the area earlier this morning.

Extra crews have been called in, and power should be restored before noon.

Five cases of chronic wasting disease have been found recently in Adair, Chariton, Linn, Macon, Randolph and Sullivan counties.

A just released report by the Missouri Foundation for Health says hospitals' charity care costs have risen from about $62 million in 2004 to nearly $160 million in 2008.

That was the latest year for which data was analyzed.

State troopers say 25 year old Kerley Stevens' car spun out of control and rolled over.

The crash took place on Highway H, four miles east of Neosho just before two this morning.

Runoffs from the heavy rain this morning will cause some minor flooding for low water areas.

Matthew Allen, who was arrested two weeks ago at a home in west Springfield, after an officer involved shooting near Strafford earlier in the week,  has now been charged in Greene County with a series of drug related offenses including intent to manufacture meth.

Allen was on the run for four days before he was taken into custody in Springfield on May 18th.

Earlier that week,  he was spotted near public schools in Nixa, prompting a two hour lockdown and another search by police, deputies and U.S marshals.
