Now you can twit via Flickr

With the soaring popularity of Twitter, now you can also twit via Flickr. Recently. Yahoo has released a feature that lets user post Flickr photos to their Twitter accounts.

The Twitter2Flickr feature requires that you enable Flickr as an approved application that can tweet under your username. When you click the “blog this” link above a photo at Flickr, you’re presented with the option to twitter it. The tweet will come with a “flic.kr” shortened URL.

Firefox 3.5 Final is now live for download

After four betas, three release candidates, and one version number change later, Mozilla finally gives us the final version of Firefox 3.5 for download.

Mozilla on Tuesday released a Web browser that it said is 10 times faster than its original browser. The free open-source browser has better JavaScript performance; more privacy features, including a new private-browsing mode; and support for open video, audio and location browsing. The new version was supposed to be called Firefox 3.1 but Mozilla decided 3.5 would better represent the enhanced performance and features.

There are times when you need to change the MAC address for your computer, and AnonyMac is the right software for you.

AnalogX AnonyMac allows you to quickly see all of your network connections, what MAC is currently assigned to them, and then change them to a completely new one. AnonyMac also decodes the manufacturer information from the MAC so you can see who actually made the NIC, as well as some of the basic IP settings associated with the connection. The Microsoft Security Essentials Beta (formerly known as Moro) is now available for download and testing. Security Essentials is a free program that fights viruses and spyware. Security Essentials runs on Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7.

In order to download, you’ll need to sign in with your Connect account or register for a new one to gain access. According to Microsoft, Security Essentials has features like auto updates and auto upgrades. The interface for Security Essentials is quite user-friendly too. Through the Security Essentials’ Settings tab, you’ll have fast access to advanced tools that power users might reconfigure.

Make backup of your Google Docs with GDocBackup

GDocBackup is a simple utility application that makes short work of downloading an offline copy of your Google Docs files. GDocBackup is an open source, freeware and licensed under the Apache License Version 2.0

To use, simply download the installer (GDocBackup_X.Y.Z_Setup.exe) and run it.

Usage:

Run gdocbackup.exe
ConfigForm appears (only the first time or if username or output folder are not configured)
Set username, password and backup directory. The password is optional. If you choose to not store it, you will be asked to enter it when you start backup.
Choose the export format for each type of document:
- Documents: doc, odt, rtf, txt, pdf
- Spreadsheets: xls, csv, ods, tsv, pdf
- Presentations: ppt, pdf
Save configuration
Click Exec Backup button
GDocBackup exports all your documents from Google to your local hard disk

Download GDocBackup_X.Y.Z_Setup.exe

Facebook has just turned on a new feature enabling users to display an “alternate name” on their profiles. If you are a married person or you may have a nickname that almost everyone is familiar with, then this feature should be a great help.

To enter an alternate name, go to your “Account Settings” page here. Check the box for displaying your alternate name if you also want it to be shown on the site. [via]

Google AdSense introduces font size control for Publishers

Google AdSense Publishers now have more control over the ads published on their sites. Back in February, Google allowed Publishers to customized font type selections for their AdSense ads. Now Google announced the ability to control the size of those fonts.

Your ads are currently set at the default size for AdSense, which is the equivalent of ’small’. You can select a new font size on an account-wide basis in the Ad Display Preference section of your My Account tab, or on an individual ad unit basis for new and existing ad units.

If you’re creating new ad units, you can choose between the AdSense default font size, your new account-wide font size (if you’ve selected one using the instructions above), or a separate size. To update existing ad units you’ve created using the Manage Ads feature, visit the ‘Manage Ads’ page under your AdSense Setup tab. Any font size changes you make on an individual ad unit basis will be maintained even if you change your account-wide default in the future.

As per Google AdSense’s Blog:

Since February, you’ve been able to change the font faces of your ad units. We’re now happy to announce the launch of a related feature you’ve been asking for — the ability to change the font size of the text in your ad units. You can now select from small, medium, and large font sizes for ad units on pages in Latin-character languages. Just like with the current font face options, size options appear in every account but will only be applied to ad units on pages primarily in Latin-based characters for now.

The font size you choose will be applied to the body of the ad, with the title scaled appropriately. In order to fit the ad text correctly, the actual font size will vary for each format size, font face, and user-specific settings such as browsers and operating systems. In addition, some formats sizes currently have very limited room, so the font size application will be most apparent in cases where the number of ads appearing in your ad units varies automatically in order to maximize your performance.
