No. I did not misspell it. I found this freeware on the Internet that you can download to your PC which transforms your jpeg pictures to a Polaroid image. It is called Poladroid and it claims that it is the easiest and funniest Polaroid image maker.

It has the following main features:

Generate High-resolution pictures (400 dpi), "ready-to-print" with a Polaroid design
Funny : only 10 treatments per session, like the content of a cartridge ; interactive (look at the demo below) ; random and realistic Polaroid-like colors variation...

All the flaws: poor lighting, vignettes, thumbmarks, color, etc., even the shaking to air dry, are included and designed intentionally by the programmers. Almost all the Polaroid features that are loved by many are included in this software.

I'll be in Manila October 20. I may not not be able to post anything for the mean time. My desktop computer back in Manila crashed and the technician advised me to buy a new one. I might get myself a laptop or something since I'm planning to go back to school and I'll be needing it badly. But that's another story.

What was I thinking?! I was thinking of doing some experimental shots using different media. I am beginning to hate my Sony CS. It's harder to focus (half-pressing the shutter is not working properly) and it's image stabilizer is a huge failure even on bright light. I've tried adjusting the settings, but it's giving me the same blurry result. The quality of its pictures is not as pretty as its outside design. If you're planning to buy a point and shoot camera, go for Canon instead.

Anyway, I scanned my face today on Xerox WorkCentre 3119. If you look closely, you can see my brain through my skin pores.

By the way, these pics were inspired by Jhon Nguyen. A friend from Neverland. Tah for now! ;-)

Ok. I am an artist wannabe and I am no expert on graphics so I need to know if you like it or not (calling graphic artist friends). I was actually choosing between this:

One Stormy Saturday

It was a weekend of strong wind and rain and flood and mud in Iloilo City. It was too dangerous to go out. Huge tree branches were falling from everywhere. Not to mention roofs from houses. There was a power outage all over the city. Thank God our area was spared from disaster.

I slept the whole day (and the whole night), waking up several times in between for my 30 seconds of bathroom breaks. I got water, lots of it, but no food. My schedule of doing the grocery is usually every Saturday. My cellphone and PSP's battery are both drained. The only working electronic gadget I had at that time was my camera. Below are the products of my boredom.

A lot of Ilonggos have been greatly affected by Typhoon Frank.
Both the rich and the poor were devastated.
They have lost their homes, clothes and properties.
Some even lost their loved ones.

These people need your help.

This is the nearest church to my place and they claim that they have the third oldest figurine of the Sto. Niño (Holy Child) in the country. The church is in front of a garden plaza, where I usually walk my dog every week.

The District of Arevalo (aka Villa Arevalo) in Iloilo City is known for its gardens of flowers and plants. And also astonishing fireworks all year round.

We celebrated our country's 110th Independence Day in Sta. Barbara, one of the nearby municipalities outside Iloilo City. While my colleagues were busy interviewing people (our school joined the Trade Fair that was hosted by TESDA Iloilo today), I sneaked out to take some pictures of the town. I noticed this huge Philippines flag in front of the town's municipal hall, bigger than my room, Pearl claims. Aliw!

An Unexpected Visitor

It was a so-so rainy late afternoon when a little creature visited us last week in our office - a tiny maya bird. It must have found shelter in our building against the strong rain and wind outside, and it accidentally got into our main door. Pearl found it first. I though she was catching a mouse with her bare hands when I notice her diving on the floor. It was a small bird.

I so wanted to take it home. But I have a dog, and I don't want it to be Francis' dinner that night. And besides, birds belong to the sky and the trees, and not inside a cage. So I went outside to free the bird. But it seemed like it enjoyed the warmth of my hand and didn't want to go. It was chirping as if it was begging to stay for a few more minutes until the rain stops pouring. And so we waited. When the rain stopped, I literally threw it out of the window. It flew away and we had never seen it again.

It was a cloudy Sunday morning when my co-worker, Pearl, and her sister, Mavic, picked me up from my pad last weekend to attend a forum about labor rights in the town of Tigbauan, Iloilo, just about 45 minute and 400-peso-taxi-fare away from the city proper.

We had a very interesting discussion. It was a talk about the challenges and concerns of the people working in the IT, Telecom and Call Center Industry are facing in connection with their rights as workers. I'll talk about this topic next time if I have time. For now, I hope you'd enjoy these pics:

Since my Marketing Coordinator resigned, I have to do the field work myself for our school. Yesterday, I went to this barangay in Arevalo District in Iloilo City to offer a scholarship program to the community. It's a small community beside the Iloilo river near the old airport. I was able to speak with their barangay captain and he said that the place used to be huge farm land where they can plant rice. But since their barangay became a relocation site for the less fortunate Ilonggos years ago to give way for the "urbanization" of Iloilo City, the agricultural industry have since depreciated.

A weekend getaway in Baras Island, Guimaras. After partying as if it was the end of the world in Boracay last Holy Week, we decided it would be a good change to spend some time in a more secluded and private resort.

I've been living in Iloilo City for almost a year now, but it's a shame that I have not been to Guimaras. But as they say, better late than never.

It was a two-hour travel from Iloilo City to Baras Island, one of the small islands on the northwestern part of Guimaras province. Guimaras is known for having the sweetest mango in the country, arguably in the world. They're so proud of their mangoes, the people of Guimaras celebrate it annually, aptly called Manggahan Festival (Mango Festival). In fact, it was celebrated the same Sunday we were in Baras Island.

Unfortunately, we didn't have time to join the celebration because we had to go back home that day and we need to catch up with the last trip of the boat back to Iloilo. But I want to share with you these pictures I captured during our two-day stay there.
