“Ice” is a story about the winter at Zemborzycki Reservoir near Lublin, Poland – large man-made lake build in 1974, used for wind surfing, fishing and other water sports during the summer. In winter it becomes completely deserted, with very few people visiting. Exception being the ice anglers. Most of them is coming there on every weekend for many years, to sit on the stool in the open on a frozen waters. They usually know each other but rarely interact, enjoying the opportunity of isolation. The act of fishing becomes less important than it seems, it’s just an excuse to be there. Their tiny silhouettes appear like frozen – waiting to dissolve in the great white silence and stillness, until they become a part of the landscape.

“Przypadki” is a collection of the street photographs taken between 2010 and 2012 in big cities, including Sydney, London, Warsaw and Marrakech. Main subjects are people in and within the public space – their interaction with the environment as well the the issues of individualism in the crowd. Presented photographs are also the result of my contemplation of the city light: strong shadows and fields of light cutting through the streets. I’m interested in the raw presentation of the reality I encounter – not the one being the reaction to my (or camera’s) presence. I’m fascinated by the everyday rituals: tourists, street performers, commuters, workers, people shopping, going to or back from work… Thanks to the happenings I’m able to see under the surface and find something special and unique in the obvious street scenes: spontaneous compositions of lights, shadows, colours, architecture – all interacting with human presence. The happening, or accident becomes co-author of the photographs. I try to focus and rely more on the instinct, reflex and improvisations, rather then on precise planning and thinking. I find the effects of that combination far more interesting than the most detailed and precise arrangements!
