Much of today was spent on watching over the kids, and I also had to take the car to the shop to have it fixed. CV joint got water in it so it was making these weird noises, like sheets of metal being compressed. Yay for silence. Nay for expenses. Oh well. I still prefer shelling out cash, than going back to waiting for a ride every night when I still commute. Worth it.

I am working on the strip as we speak. I'm going to try to have it up tonight. Else, it will be probably be up by tomorrow afternoon. Lot's of stuff to do. For now here are some Professional Lamer related stuff I was able to make last night:

<a "rel=lightbox" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3aeGTwnBA-c/Rx3UF6axyiI/AAAAAAAAAGU/ulZkPxxb85g/s1600-h/p_lamer_banner.jpg">Feel free to download and link (wink wink... Removed some stuff from the 4th panel and changed the title - nothing drastic. As a matter of fact, this really doesn't change anything story-wise, as there is no actual story... yet. And if I find myself comfortable producing one-shots, then we'll just stick with that. We'll see.

I've just received my assignment from Boss Mike. Looking at the blog with the tag-board on it somehow hurts my eyes. I'm OC in a weird kind of way - especially when it comes to web layouts.

So, strip zero's out (hence, Aftermath). It's a Sunday and I'll probably start working on strip #1 for Monday. Which. Is... tomorrow? Dammit. XD I shouldn't have placed my own deadline so close to lazy Sundays.

Anyway. I changed the layout for the strip a bit - from top-down to left-right. As I've mentioned in the previous entry, a lot of the strips are going to be experimental until I find the style that suits the series best; this can be in terms of layout, story, or art (as if). So, wait up for the strip tomorrow. If I make it. I PROMISE NOTHING! XD

Oh, and here's a little something I did last night when basking in my awesomeness.. and boredom due to sembreak.

Forgive the insanely short clip. I failed to set the frames to be rendered so all I got is these 91 frames. It's basically a mech from BattleTech made straight from the top of my head with no references whatsoever. No need to tell me that it doesn't look like anything from BattleTech. I wasn't even trying. XD

I'll probably start on strip #1's actual comic later today. Expect to see it up by tomorrow morning, Monday.

Scribble-scribble,
KUMAN

Professional Lamer Webcomic

Professional Lamer Strip #0: A Public Service Announcement
by Kumansenu Atari

Hello, again, world. Did I deliver or what? While missing my self-imposed deadline for last night, I am ahead of schedule for today. Here you go -- strip #0 for my little pet-project of the same name as this blog, the Professional Lamer Webcomic.

I will be officially starting the series this coming Monday, October 22. For now just hang on to your seats and enjoy strip zero.

Enjoy. Or at least.. bear with it, k? (click on the image for full-size, blogger won't let me display the whole thing XD)

I've added a small image in the sidebar, so you can find the comics easily. I will still keep this blog as part-personal blog and part-webcomic home. Professional Lamer will be my attempt at re-entering the web-comic scene after so many years of losing to my laziness.

Do take note that the first few strips will be experimental. Expect changes in style and varying degrees of visible effort in output. Also, expect quality (is if there's any trace of it in any of my work) to fluctuate as well. XD

Comments and suggestions are most welcome, but will be moderated. No. I don't need to hear you say 'YOU SUCK'. Something constructive, people. It's not like I don't know that already.

See you Monday,
KUMAN

Excuses and Overspending (again)

Yes -- this entry means that I won't be delivering any legendary 'content' (oooh, a hint!) today just as I promised last night, err.. this morning. It's just been a very busy day; chores are done, but the epic shopping my girlfriend did took a lot longer than usual. It was all good though, had lots of fun at Robinson's; it's also scary that while we're taking advantage of the 3-day sale there, a bomb exploded in another mall somewhere else. Screw those responsible. Get wells to the injured. And condolences over to the left behinds. It's kinda good that I'm lazy. Never got interested in going to other malls.

So as I desperately try to distract people from my failure to deliver as promised, let me share some of the goodies I obtained in our mall adventures today.

Your eyes are not mistaken. This, my friends, is my new helper in saving money for a new set of wheels - the mushroom from Super Mario.

Cool, eh? Got it from 'Swell Stuff'. Many thanks to my lovie for dragging me into such a girly place. If she didn't, then I wouldn't have found this. I think I might buy another one because once you put money in, to get it out you have to break the mushroom. And, no, I don't want that. It's too cute, dammit.

Exhibit B, though crappy in the picture, is actually the much-awaited spare key for my car. It really bothered the people at home that I only have 1 key and I am quite known for losing my stuff all the time. Here's another 'helper' of sorts.

Now I can lose my keys with confidence! Got this from Key Specialist beside Tropical Hut. It was awesome that the guy manning the store took only 2 minutes to make the key. We had a good laugh when I told him I was expecting it to take an hour or so. Much time was spent in my expression of amazement. Much LOLX was had with said stranger. It was awesome.

Last thing I bought for the day -- I first saw this at Swell Stuff when we bought the mushroom, but decided against buying it because it really was just an unnecessary purchase. But, dammit, it was just too awesome, and at the last minute, we just had to buy it. The storekeeper was amazed to see us again, and I told her that I just had to have one. Much LOLX was had, yet again, with more strangers.

The people at the store were amazed with my amazement. Hahaha. Yeah. The girlfriend loves it too. What exactly does it do? Behold the might of the thingy that sent yours truly on a shopping-frenzy:

Video sucks, I know. But that was just awesome, yes? Yes! Featured robot is now named Dansen, and is currently standing next to my speakers ready for the winding and dancing. XD Much epic times will be had with Dansen -- I can just see it now. Oh, yeah. The video itself features my work desk, complete with scattered CD's, exposed CD/DVD drive, as well as other gadgets that I keep. Typical guy's room, ne?

For the record, my spending as of today is 80+50+150 + 200 = 480. Wow. For someone who's technically bankrupt, I'm actually overspending. Again. Oh, well. Today was fun. Definitely well worth every damn cent. :)

Saturday (tomorrow) shall be the moment of truth. I'm now too tired to actually work on my promised thingy. I'll try to have it up by night-time tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Promise?,
KUMAN

Bigday Friday

It's 12:07 AM and I should be sleeping. I've got a big day ahead. First off, early morning chores for the lose, to be followed by shopping spree by girlfriend in the afternoon for the win. Also, someone will be leaving tonight, which is also for the win because it will increase my chances of finally being able to relax (will no longer elaborate).

I've prepared a little something for the blog for later today, I hope I get enough free time in-between my responsibilities to actually make it happen. A surprise for this Friday? Oh, ho ho. It's going to be legen-- wait for it,

Legendary (sorry for the random post, I just had to type something to help me sleep),
KUMAN

Layout Update

I've got a good line-up of things to write/post, but my mood's currently leaning towards editing the layout for now. I've switched to the K2 layout and done some alterations. Basically we've got a darker color scheme now, just plain black and white to keep things simple. Also, a new header image featuring yours truly. Yes, that's me up there - good luck with recognizing my face (well if you are that interested [which I doubt], I've a link to my photos anyway). Nothing fancy, keeping with the dark scheme, it's actually just a re-edit of something I did a while back.

Hmm.. I've also organized the sidebar and removed some unnecessary links, re-ordered the content - and of course -- a sweet new tagboard for imaginary friends. While no one ever really comes to visit my home on the internet, it's just been part of my 'habit' to have one. At least when someone does arrive, they can tell me how much I rock, or fail. Something like that.

It's been a while since I worked with CSS and HTML. But a review is always good. I just might get back to designing for web again. Who knows? Either way, I think it's great I'm another site out there that's worth the read and is readable in the first place.

Heh. Tabulas. Heh. Friendster. Heh. Multiply. Seriously, guys, having an awesome background image backfires when you can't read anything on the site itself.

Next time-- I'll post some more awesome,

KUMAN

Beat Boredom: Watch One Piece Online

Having nothing to do on a sem break can make you wish you had classes instead -- or wish you had allowance so you could spend it and go somewhere else. A day really seems much longer when spent at home, especially when you've got nothing to do.

While watching usual anime (yes, I am that bored) and TV series can supply you with the much needed cure from boredom - this is only limited to the quality of said show and the number of episodes available. Quality is important to maintain interest, and quantity is also important so that... well, more is just better. You want to watch something that can last longer. It's sembreak and you've got a lot of time on your hands. Watch a 13-episodes series and you'd probably be done in just a day. Lame.

Anyway, here's an awesome find for those looking for something to burn time, and it qualifies for quality and quantity too: One Piece. It's old, yeah, but its kick-assery is still top notch. 300 episodes and counting, and still maintains quality arc and content. Seriously. Just watch it, dammit. And if you need more proof, watch 300++ One Piece, then watch Naruto and Bleach from start to finish. Different difference is different. Yes, Pirates > Ninjas AND Shinigamis COMBINED. Enjoy:

One Piece Series - online streaming episodes of One Piece from start to finish. Subbed and video quality is nice.

One Piece Episode Guide - an episode guide to help you keep track. 300++ episodes, yo. Inform your family and friends that you'll be gone for a while. XD

Currently at episode 194,
KUMAN

Post-Hell Week Status Report

As of 1pm yesterday, I've officially entered sem break mode. After an entire week (sem, actually) of hellish deliverables, exams, and oral defenses and it's finally fucking over. Hello, regular hours of sleep, I missed you so.

End-Sem Status Report

Accounting 15. Let's start with the bad news. For the record, I'm going to have to take it again next semester. Hello, 24 units. I know I can take it. If only some people I know would take some resps off my hands and understand. I was able to pass the first 2 long tests, but the last 2 was way too much for moi. Oh, well. Expected Grade: FUCKING F / Hopefully: D (if god exists).

Game Design. How's 2nd highest group grade for ya? Chinitoes for the win. I am god of cheesy dialogue and game design; lord of hacks and mods; apprentice only to the scriptastic master. Utilitarianism fo sho. Many thanks to Aaron for bearing with us during the start of the sem when he did most of the work. Yo da man. Hi, AJ. Asan na yung 'akong bahala sa module!'? XD Expected Grade: B / Hopefully B+ or A dammit! Halos perfect na eh!

3D Modeling. Thanks to this class, I've found a medium wherein I can actually kick ass and have fun. Hail, Podge. Thanks to the 3D team, especially the 3rd year members. Sorry kung sa last project lang namin kayo nakilala, pero thanks! Line for the class, while talking to Podge, 'I'm not going to lie, sir, you probably already know the effort that went to this sketchpad. Enjoy your new notebook.' (10% of our grade will be taken from said sketchbook.. which I did 30 minutes before its deadline -- Podge also saw me drawing -- which makes it twice as awesome). Expected Grade: B / Hopefully: B+ or A!

ISA. Reported for the final project alone in less than 5 minutes. And those 5 minutes were immediately before the final exam. It was lolworthy. Sir Maguyon: 'Can you do this is 5 minutes'. Jap: 'XD'. He was late for the report. XD. I totally pwned that part. Expected Grade: D or C / Hopefully C/C+.

Project Management. I've never passed a single major exam. I am that bad in academics this sem. I hope our final presentation would be enough to pull me up. It really wasn't that bad. Our panel rocks, too bad I couldn't remember their names. Expected Grade: D / Hopefully: C

Theology. I've been constantly underperfoming in this class, but the final oral exams was different. Thanks to Fr. Jboy. He told me I got a 98 for the final orals. It really looked like he was proud of me. Though creepy, he gave me a hug after my awesome defense. Expected Grade: D / Hopefully: C/C+

Philosophy. Mariano is awesome, but sadly, I couldn't keep up with the lessons. All my oral exams are epic failures, with him usually sighing the whole time. I've got decent recitation results from class, and my papers are all Cs and up. Expected Grade: D / Hopefully: C

I'm hoping that my QPI makes it to 2.00 for this sem, I don't want to play catch-up in the sem right before graduation. Masyadong hassle. Anyway, lessons learned. For this break, I'm gonna try to accomplish everything I've wanted to do when I was way too busy. AJ also apologized in advance for the hell he will put us through. I want to say vice-versa. XD

Next sem will be different. Free loaders will be destroyed. Accounting will be defeated. Blablablah. See you next sem, noobs, I've a plane called sleep to catch.

ZzzZz,
KUMAN

Last 6 Units of Hell

Here's to the last 6 units I have to bear with for the last day of hell week. 2 oral exams also known as verbal pwnage: philosophy 104 and project management defense.

I'm epic failing in philosophy, I need to get at least a D for this one. I am also epic failing in project management, so yeah, doomed here too.

For the record, this is the most epic-failing semester I've had in my stay in the Ateneo. I've never reached hell week / final exams with fear that my grades won't be enough to get me past 2.0. I'm a consistent QPI pwner, though falling short of actual subjects (I get Fs) -- the point is, I pass anyway. However, for senior year - I'm literally scared shitless of what's going to happen. It's a good thing I've this amazing ability to get over stuff and rationalize.

I can still do this. I can handle philosophy, I just need this night for one review-rush-down. I need that D. PM on the other hand, I leave in Batman's hands.

For the win, for the lose, let's go!
KUMAN

Olpocalypse 2: Ang Salarin

Olpoc said to the MIS batch, "I pwn you, bitches. Wallpaper

You can't possibly comprende' the amount of stress I am in right now. By far, this is the worst Ateneo hell week I've experienced. Hell week isn't just a week anymore, by the way, it's an freaking semester!

Finals week starts tomorrow, and I have Accounting15 and Game Design to start it off. Unlike most people my finals week stretches until Saturday (October 13) -- 2 oral defenses for the win.

Some AMDG walls by the way... inspired by the 'Ang Matutulog Di Gragraduate' thingy that's spreading across YM statuses as we speak.

Nowhere near awesome, they actually outright suck. But, meh, I'm stressed and I needed to relax. And releasing feeling-creativeness helps. Here's a link to my channel by the way: http://youtube.com/user/kumansenu. Done by yours truly, this short clip is part of an 'epic' battle between Bulbasaur and Onix.

For now, this is all I can upload. Once I get my hands on the full movie, I'll make sure it gets love online. This is my first ever attempt at 3D modeling and animation, so it's not that good -- but surely, this won't be the last -- I see myself and Blender having lots of fun times ahead of us. Ever since I got a broadband connection and could spend the entire day online surfing the web, I believe I've reached a point wherein going online has become such a part of my lifestyle that it too has become boring (which also states that my life is unhappening).

I go online and log onto Yahoo! Messenger, talk to some online buddies, go through my uninspired daily crawl (which is pretty much composed of less than 10 sites) and I'm done. After that, that's pretty much it. I constantly find myself in a state of internet-boredom with nothing else to do. Digg.com is beginning to suck, the tech news are being overpowered by the Ron Paul fanboys; I've for so-long killed my Friendster account (my only social networking fix); the usual blog roll is just composed the same people I know from school. And I already see them everyday. Awesome, huh?

My recent activity in the blogosphere has been really great. While barely a number of people pass by this blog, being able to write here and have something else to do has been... Hmm.. Therapeutic? I find myself with the drive to go online, talk about myself (because I'm awesome? NO), talk about what I know and don't know, and basically -- just to share. Share the little whatevers that I have from my small place in the world. And that, I believe in itself, is pure awesome.

I'm 'talking' out loud to the world. And what I 'say' is right here. Motivation to spend time doing what I enjoy -- being online -- being back on track... Overall it feels good.

Feel,
KUMAN

Kumansenu vs Google (edit)

I've been waiting for this 'problem' to fix itself. I just keep disappearing from the results - it's insane.

Anyone else experiencing problems with Google?! Halp!

I couldn't even force my self to write stuff anymore. I'll probably get back on track after the final exams. Ateneo Hell!

Edit:

Again, as of this writing I am back on Google results page 1. Truly, this is insane.

Desperation,
KUMAN

Kumansenu are Pissed

As of this writing I am gone from Google Search again. Damn fluctuations. And I was really happy that I was #4 for kumansenu too. I'll probably give it until the end of the month, if this keeps up, I'm going for plan B.

Schoolwork's also piling up and my to-do-list is overflowing with academic requirements to fulfill. We're very close to the sembreak if you count the days, but given all the work I've to do before I get there - this may be the longest 3 weeks of my Ateneo life.

Here's a brief rundown of what's coming:

September 28, Friday:
Project Kick-off with Mr. Salvador of the Ateneo Grade School
Game Design, Devour: Aswangs in the Age of Reason -- Deadline and Presentation
Ph104, Philosophy Final Paper
Info Systems Administration, 2nd Long Test

September 29, Friday:
Accounting, 9am to 4pm Marathon / Mayhem

September 30, Sunday:
3D Modeling, Pokemon: Random Encounter!
Overnight @ Pat's for Hardcoring

October 1, Monday
Info Systems Administration, Final Deliverable
Game Design, Devour Final Presentation

My next day for relaxation is on October 2, but even after that Finals Week is just around the corner. Final examinations and oral defense-galore! I swear, my last year in college could very well be the end of me. Demonstrating (mini-pun) yet again, people -- that corporations are slowly taking away everything that does not benefit them. Everything that is awesome -- is in danger. (see: Ateneo Dress Code)

But what's even more frustrating is that they had to do it just when the first episode for Heroes Season 2 comes out. Here in the Philippines, we only get Heroes on RPN Channel 9. Obviously they are still in the first season, and we cannot expect that they also show Season 2 episodes as they are released just like in the US. We have to wait for the season to complete, and then they release it. Me and my friends rely on P2P to get our media fix, the local shows suck, and with the p2p community taking blow after blow -- it really sucks.

People have been discussing possible 'havens' for P2P ever since Pirate Bay initiated the move to purchase their own country (nothing happened), and honestly, these havens do not exist. Always, there will be a catch. A catch that mainly involves copyright laws, internet laws, piracy, and corporations who are desperately trying to protect their money.

Long live P2P,
KUMAN

Source: http://torrentfreak.com/demonoid-shut-down-by-cria-070925/trackback/

Ateneo Movie Poster (vs Dress Code)

Have some 300-time-paradox-aspirin from 2006:

Update 1: Administration has been very clear that no tantrum from the student body is going to change their minds.

Update 2: Members of the student-body are pissed.

Update 3: Why am I not surprised?

SY 2007-2008 is going to be EPIC,
KUMAN

Blog Disappearing From Google?

I'm putting the 2nd part of the Kumansenu Special on hold for a while. It's the part about the supposed removal of the smoker's pocket garden, but just recently I've been able to gather some information that this is not true. Not removal, just relocation. So, what I initially wrote is totally off and has to be re-written. Such a hassle. I already have something prepared at the back of my head, I just need to write it. Again. Anyway...

I'm having this really weird problem with my blog showing up on Google. During the first week that I upped this blog I was ranked number 6 for the keyword kumansenu, sitting with other sites that are mostly about the story 'Life is Sweet at Kumansenu'. Wow. My name is a fictional place (I had no idea, I got the name from-- another entry will handle that), and my last name is an old gaming platform - I can live with that (you guys do understand that Kumansenu Atari is just my online name, right?). So, I sit there at number 6 with the 'other' kumansenu websites. Like moving into a neighborhood where every other kid has the same name as yours. I'm cool.

A few days later, I do a recheck if my blog is still there only to find that the link to my blog is gone. Pffft. Gone. I went from number 6 to doesnotexit that fast.

Do take note that I do understand that a blog that's only a few days old won't have the staying power as those literary blogs that have already been established since godknowswhen. I can even accept being pushed to page 1 billion of the results for the word kumansenu. It's just annoying, because even a 'site: kumansenu.blogspot.com' search yielded no results - and that confirms I'm no longer indexed by Google.

Of course, I let it pass and give it a few more days. I tell myself that maybe the spiders are having trouble crawling through my site, etc. And so a few more days in and I'm back - somewhere around top 20. And I'm cool with that. So my 'virtual house' in this neighborhood of kumansenu's just got moved a few blocks - I'm okay with that.

What's totally uncool happens a few more days later, when I do another recheck only to find that I cannot find myself (ha!). I'm gone again. It's really annoying. Someone is moving my house around. How the hell am I supposed to receive my mail? And that's not all, people, what's even more annoying is that my DEAD blog and DEAD social-networking profile are listed up there in the top 10 while I'm trying to find my new and active house. Both are officially dead, inactive - blog contains nothing, click it and you get an error page; profile, on the other hand, has been untouched for months. Both still manage to beat this one. Could it be age? Weird, right?

Anyway, I'm done whining. I've done some countermeasures. Just in case anyone else is having the same trouble as I am with their 'houses', here's basically what I did:

I submitted the site to Technorati; used the add site function of Google as well. Also placed a link to this blog through my Yahoo! Messenger status so my contacts can see my awesomeness. My next course of action is to get some link-loving from some friends. I've done some research on my own, and it seems those can help with this type of problem. Let other people know that your blog exists, and Google will take notice. Spiders crawl through your friend's blog with a link to your site; said spider ends up crawling your site too. Frequent blog visits then improve your ranking. Makes perfect sense to me.

I've decided to give it time, hoping that things will be 'normal' again. A test of patience. If it works, then YAY. If it doesn't, then I'll just have to beat every kumansenu site out there (lol wut).

You hear me, 'Life is Sweet at Kumansenu'? I'm coming for you!

Prep time,
KUMAN
