Babalwa M and MySol’s cosy video got Mzansi heated. Now fans worry about Kelvin Momo’s next move.

Haibo, Mzansi never sleeps. Social media is on fire after a viral video showed amapiano star Babalwa M looking mad cosy with business mogul MySol during a live performance. The clip was taken on 9 May 2026, and abantu wasted no time connecting dots that may not even exist yet.

In the now-trending footage, Babalwa M performs for the crowd while MySol dances closely behind her on stage. Yoh, the chemistry had people talking immediately. Some fans even said the pair looked “too comfortable” together. Sharp-sharp, dating rumours started flying across X, TikTok, and Facebook.

What made the gossip even louder was Kelvin Momo’s name entering the chat. Fans quickly started wondering how the producer would react after seeing his ex looking all cosy with another man in public. And ngoba, this is Mzansi, the memes arrived before breakfast.

MySol, whose real name is Solly Soza Modibela, is not just any oke with cash. The businessman runs MySol Holdings & Logistics, a company known for trucks, transport vehicles, and heavy earth-moving machines. The mogul also flexes hard online with luxury rides and recently showed off a custom Rolls-Royce that had social media users proper shook.

Still, this time people care less about the money and more about the romance rumours. In the past, MySol was linked to influencer Mihlali Ndamase, although neither side confirmed anything. Now, after this latest video with Babalwa M, many people think the businessman may be soft-launching a fresh relationship right in front of the country.

Meanwhile, social media detectives are enjoying every second of the drama. One user, @HermaineM, wrote:

“Y’all check on Kelvin Momo.”

Another user, @Kgothatsoxo, joked:

“Kelvin Momo isn’t missing any gigs after this. In fact, expect 3 albums a year from now on.”

@maximuss_88 added:

“I feel sorry for my boy Momo. He’ll never miss any gig anymore.”

Eish, the comments kept coming. Some fans even compared the situation to watching your ex upgrade while you’re still figuring life out. Others simply claimed Kelvin Momo “can’t compete” with MySol’s billionaire lifestyle. Hayi, the streets can be brutal.

Even so, many amapiano fans still back Kelvin Momo heavily. The producer built a massive name through soulful piano hits and emotional production that dominate playlists, groove sessions, and late-night drives. Because of that, supporters believe he will simply focus on music and let the gossip pass.

For now, neither Babalwa M nor MySol has confirmed anything about the nature of their relationship. Still, the internet has already decided this story belongs in the group chat hall of fame. And judging by the reactions, this drama is far from finished.

The post Kelvin Momo Fans Panic Over Babalwa Clip first appeared on kwaito.com.

Kwaito king Oskido is back on a massive stage. Here’s why this moment hits deep for SA music culture.

The post Oskido Brings Kwaito Fire to House Naxiion first appeared on kwaito.com.

If you’re familiar with kwaito music, then you know one name—Oskido. Not just a DJ. Not just a producer. Bra is the culture. Straight up.

Now check this—on 8 August, the legend pulls up heavy at House Naxiion in Bryanston. And trust, this isn’t just another gig. It’s a full-on celebration of 40 years of house vibes, mixed properly with that kasi flavour we grew up on.

But let’s not rush. First, give the man his flowers.

Oskido, real name Oscar Mdlongwa, didn’t just ride the wave of South African house music. Nah, he built it. Brick by brick. Beat by beat. From the streets of Soweto to global stages, his sound carried the people.

Back in the day, when kwaito songs were blasting from taxis and corner shops, Oskido was already cooking hits. Think Via Orlando. Think Boom Shaka. Think Mafikizolo. That whole era? He had a hand in it.

And that’s the thing, this isn’t just about music. It’s about identity. Kwaito gave kasi kids a voice. It said, “We’re here.” Loud.

Now, fast forward. The game changed. Amapiano came through. Afro-tech is doing bits. But still, Oskido stays relevant. Why? Because real ones adapt. He seamlessly blends kwaito beats with new sounds, as if it’s nothing. Smooth.

So when House Naxiion says they’re celebrating the journey, they mean it.

The lineup? Madness. Glen Lewis. T-Deep. Lamiez Holworthy. Proper mix of old school and new school. It’s like a family reunion, but with bass that hits your chest.

And then there’s the Legends Tribute Set. Yoh. That one’s for the OGs. The ones who made South African kwaito what it is today. Expect nostalgia. Expect goosebumps.

Also, the vibe won’t be basic. We’re talking day-to-night energy. You start chilled, sun out, drink in hand. Then boom, sunset hits, music gets deeper. By night? Full groove mode. No holding back.

Plus, the setting at The Campus? Clean. Premium. This is not your average shisanyama setup, but still, the spirit stays kasi.

And honestly, events like this matter. Big time.

Because too many people forget where the sound comes from. They hear the beat, but they don’t know the roots. Kwaito walked so that everything else could run, sharp.

So ja, when Oskido steps on that stage, it’s not just a set. It’s history. It’s pride. It’s South Africa saying, “We did this.”

If you love the culture, you already know, you can’t miss this one.

The post Oskido Brings Kwaito Fire to House Naxiion first appeared on kwaito.com.

A Durban-born banger is turning heads across SA music. Here’s what it means for fans—and why it signals a fresh wave of genre-blending artists.

The post Malwazela’s “Iyah” Brings Hustle Heat to SA first appeared on kwaito.com.

Malwazela comes through with serious heat on “Iyah”, and the track wastes no time setting the tone. Straight out of Inanda, Durban, he delivers a sound that feels raw, driven, and proudly South African. It’s a song built for the grind, and you can hear that hunger in every bar.

“Iyah” leans into a hard trap beat, yet it carries a strong local identity. While the production hits with global energy, the heart of the track stays rooted in Kasi culture. Because of that, it connects easily with listeners who understand the hustle.

The making of the song adds another layer to its appeal. Ndurex laid down the beat, giving it a solid backbone. Then SPN stepped in with a catchy hook that sticks from the first listen. After that, Malwazela took charge. His first verse raised the energy instantly, and his second verse sealed the vision with confidence.

Lyrically, the track keeps things direct and relatable. He speaks about chasing money, staying focused, and pushing forward without rest. At the same time, the mix of English and isiZulu gives the song an authentic voice. That blend reflects real South African street talk, which makes the message hit harder.

There’s also a strong sense of self-belief throughout the track. Malwazela doesn’t hold back. Instead, he claims his space and backs it up with delivery. As a result, the song feels bold without sounding forced.

Importantly, this moment didn’t happen overnight. Malwazela has been building his name for years. He contributed to Big Zulu’s Ushun weNkabi and worked on Shon G’s Mpumelelo. Because of that experience, he understands both the art and the business of music.

At the same time, his versatility sets him apart. He also operates in the Amapiano scene as part of uLwazi No Makhula. This ability to move between genres keeps his sound fresh and relevant.

“Iyah” also reflects his mindset. His “trial and error” approach pushes him to keep improving. Instead of playing it safe, he experiments and refines his craft. That attitude shows clearly in the final product.

Right now, South African music is shifting. Independent artists are stepping up and owning their narratives. Malwazela stands firmly in that space, and “Iyah” proves he’s ready to lead from the front.

The post Malwazela’s “Iyah” Brings Hustle Heat to SA first appeared on kwaito.com.

Johannesburg – YFM is not just refreshing its schedule for 2026. Instead, the station is doubling down on South Africa’s music culture, putting sound, street energy, and rising talent at the centre of everything.

While many know YFM as a youth station, its real strength lies in how it shapes the sound of the streets. This year, that influence feels even stronger.

The new line-up signals a clear move. Music comes first, and the culture drives every decision.

YFM 2026 Line-Up Drives SA Music Forward

YFM’s latest changes highlight one key focus: pushing South African music to the front. From hip hop to Amapiano, the station is creating space for both established names and new voices.

On Sunday nights, DJ Sliqe and Roiii take over The Agenda. Their show promises a deeper connection to local hip hop. More importantly, it gives a platform to the stories behind the music.

At the same time, Club Y continues to dominate. With DJs like Shakes & Les, Ggoldie, and DJ Samba, the mix show keeps dance culture alive. The addition of DJ Tshegu brings even more edge to an already strong line-up.

This is where YFM wins. It does not just play hits. It builds moments around them.

Amapiano and Street Sound Take Centre Stage

Amapiano remains a major force, and YFM is leaning into it. Through its digital expansion, the station introduces “It’s an Uncool Show,” which delves into the genre’s culture and lifestyle.

As a result, fans get more than just music. They get context, stories, and access.

In addition, shows like The Rizz with Munaka help bridge the gap between what’s trending and what’s next. This connection keeps the station close to the streets.

Even Karma Karma Radio with Shimza adds to the mix. His journey from YFM to global stages reflects the station’s role in building talent.

Familiar Voices, Strong Foundations

While the music focus grows, key shows remain steady. The Way Up and Home Run continue to lead daily listening.

These shows understand their audience. They mix conversation with music in a way that feels natural. Because of this, they stay relevant in a fast-changing space.

Meanwhile, Uncensored with Baxbara and Tulz Madala adds bold conversations to the line-up. This balance between talk and music keeps the offering fresh.

More Than Radio, It’s a Movement

YFM is also expanding beyond traditional radio. Its digital shows now play a key role in shaping music conversations.

Programmes like Culture Locked and Tell Us Y already attract strong followings. Now, with new additions, the station builds a full content ecosystem.

At the same time, events like GRYND and First Touch continue to push live music culture. These platforms provide artists with a direct connection to their fans.

So, YFM is not just broadcasting. It is actively growing the culture.

The Sound of What’s Next

The 2026 line-up proves one thing. YFM still understands where South African music is going.

It backs new talent. It supports evolving sounds. And it stays close to the streets that shape the culture.

As the line-up goes live on 1 April, listeners can expect a louder, more focused sound. One that reflects South Africa’s music scene in real time.

Tune in via the YFM App or visit https://www.yfm.co.za to stream live.

The post YFM Turns Up the Heat with a Powerful 2026 Line-Up first appeared on kwaito.com.

Eugene Mthethwa, a legendary member of the iconic Kwaito group Trompies, warns that the preservation of Kwaito music’s history is at risk. He believes Kwaito musicians’ stories must be told by those who lived them to safeguard the genre’s authentic legacy.

Kwaito’s Icons are Disappearing

With the recent passing of Kwaito legends Siphiwe “General GTZ” Sibisi and Sandile “Mapaputsi” Ngwenya, Mthethwa expressed deep concern. He argues that failing to document the lives and experiences of Kwaito musicians while they are still alive allows outsiders to tell inaccurate stories.

Mthethwa, aged 56, emphasises that preserving the authentic narrative of Kwaito should be a priority. “Kwaito musicians have a rich history in Mzansi, and that history needs to be documented while the legends are still alive,” he says.

The Importance of Telling Their Own Stories

Mthethwa insists that those who lived through the rise of Kwaito are best positioned to narrate their experiences. “Hunters should not tell the stories of lions. It won’t be authentic,” he explains, using a powerful metaphor to illustrate the difference between lived experiences and second-hand accounts. He firmly believes that Kwaito’s legacy can only be accurately preserved if told by the musicians themselves.

Eugene Mthethwa’s Efforts to Protect Kwaito

Determined to protect the legacy of Kwaito, Mthethwa is currently working on his own documentary. He hopes it will be completed while he is still alive, ensuring that the next generation has access to genuine accounts of the genre’s origins and cultural significance.

“Kwaito is Mzansi’s original music,” Mthethwa declares proudly. However, he acknowledges that Kwaito was once unfairly associated with gangsterism. He insists that by telling their stories, Kwaito legends can offer the world a true understanding of the genre.

Time is Running Out

With the genre’s pioneers passing away, Mthethwa feels a sense of urgency. Kwaito’s history is fading with each lost legend, and Mthethwa believes that now is the time to act. “We need to tell our story as it is, so people learn about it,” he says.

Mthethwa’s message is clear: Kwaito’s rich history must be preserved by those who shaped it. By documenting their own stories, these legends can ensure that future generations experience the truth about Kwaito music and its impact on South African culture.

The post Save Rich Kwaito Legacy: Mthethwa’s Urgent Plea For Action first appeared on kwaito.com.

Goodbye to a Kwaito Legend

The South African kwaito world is sad today. Siphiwe “General GTZ” Sibisi, one of the last members of the group Chiskop, has died. He was 49 years old. General passed away on Sunday, September 29th, after major surgery. He had been fighting cancer, and though he showed some signs of getting better, his health took a turn for the worse.

Family Shares Their Loss

His daughter, Zamokuhle Sibisi Mguli, shared the sad news on Sunday. She thanked everyone who supported her dad over the years. “We wish to thank all those who loved and supported him during all his years as a prominent and pioneering music entertainer of our beloved South African people. May his beautiful, kind spirit live on through the legacy of his kwaito music,” she said.

Chiskop and the Rise of Kwaito

Chiskop started in the 1980s and soon became famous. General GTZ, along with Mduduzi “Mandoza” Tshabalala, Sizwe “Lollopop” Motaung, and Sibusiso “SB-Bless” Thenjekwayo, led the way for kwaito music. Their songs spoke to the people. The beats were strong, and the lyrics told real stories. Chiskop made music that was full of life and meaning.

The Kwaito Movement

Kwaito is not just music. It’s a movement that gave young South Africans a voice. Chiskop played a big part in this as their songs united people and showed their struggles. General GTZ helped make Kwaito important, and his role in the music will always be remembered.

Remembering General GTZ

Chiskop’s members are no longer with us, but their music will stay alive. General GTZ will be remembered for his passion and talent. He helped shape the sound of kwaito, and his legacy will inspire many. The music of Chiskop will keep their memory alive.

General GTZ’s death is a great loss, but his spirit lives on. His music’s joy, hope, and energy will keep his story alive in our hearts. The legend of kwaito lives on.

Many of us were still mourning the loss of Mapaputsi, less than a month ago may their legacies live on and their souls rest in peace.
