A Ninja Web Comic, crazy musings about the year 2010: What is Kyle's art in the year 2010?

hmmm. two weeks until the new year. 2010. the year where everything sounds like an epic science fiction movie from the 80s. 2010 was destined to have prison islands, holographic chambers, giant monsters from space, and more... so as you can see it's a big year.

that brings me to kyleart. me as an artist. making pretty visual things. what is 2010 going to bring for me?!?!

Any ideas? I am going to post some of my thought process here, so feel free to chime in... otherwise it will be a big fat discussion that Kyle has on his own.

as this week's Monday Madness (I know it's tuesday) I am going to share an endeavor with you that I THOUGHT was going to be kyleart 2010... the world of webcomics. I spent a lot of time playing around with ideas, sketching stuff, exploring the economics of comics, etc...

my final analysis? while webcomics can actually turn into a decent job and career, and there are some awesome webcomics out there... it seemed to be too pigeon-holey for me. at the end of five years of work... while there would be quite a few strips/books/merch that would have been made... at the end, I would have been a webcomic, as opposed to an artist.

Kyle, you just finished painting a ninja cat appearing out of a smoke bomb explosion that gives a not-so-obvious nod to a painter you respect. WHAT are you going to do NOW?

I'm going to DISNEYWORLD! seriously, I am. that's why I put this painting online on Sunday. (oh, btw, the image below isn't all that clear... I had to take it quickly. next week I will upload a much better image of NinCat)

Nincat is going to be a new favorite character of mine... keep an eye out!

Super Happy Squirrel - Mondays Drool Continues

So it's monday morning. Many of us still have jobs to go to. Ones that we need to drink gallons of caffeine to even have a chance of being able to rip ourselves away from the glory of the weekend. This is where I make a stretch of a connection between the caffeine I have consumed in the past hour to the energy of the squirrel in today's PAINTING! I hope you enjoy it as much as he apparently enjoys existence.

Finally! Kyleart is back! Shazam!

The latest, greatest Kyle initiative has been... well... initiated! KYLE ART RULES...MONDAYS DROOL! Mondays are a bore no more! Every week, I pledge to rock your monday mornings with a brand new kyleart piece of art. It could be a new painting, desktop wallpaper, tshirt designs, a video of me doing a jig.... who knows? As long as it could be loosely argued as visual art... that's what you're going to get.

Waitasecond... it's Monday! I know because I have to go to work after a weekend of fun (or in my case, working). That means ::GASP:: there's a new kyleart to make my monday friggin' awesome... well this week.... drumroll... drumline... I have completely revamped my website. Squirrel Monkeys rule. Basic I like any monkeys that have names of another animal combined with "monkey". Like spider monkeys, too. And if there were Panda Monkeys and Alligator Monkeys, I would love them as well.

This is my first rendition of a spider monkey... exploring the shapes and colors... officially adding him to my repertoire of chimps and other animals that look way too much like us.

Kyle's Daily Paintings FINAL WEEK.... MONKEYS!

When I was little, I was "Little Monkey". In high school, I carried around a toy monkey. The chicks dug him, and I dug the pun of them playing with my monkey. That aside, I have grown up. kinda. now I paint monkeys. I do this in hopes that it opens up the viewer, allowing them to confront ideas and emotions and humor through their imagination, opening them up this way allows the visual to reach a deeper level.

Enough artsy mumbo-jumbo. I like monkeys. Deal with it.

Curiosity didn't just kill the cat. Curiosity also turned the monkeys into red plastic toys. Beware of the red barrel! (unless you are a big ape, in which case... feel free to chuck them at Mario).

If there's one thing I learned in my bank robbin' days... it was that certain outfits, no matter how trendy, should be worn during the caper.

That's one thing I love about the superhero world and mythos... everything is so black and white, you know what needs to be done - no matter who you are.

Capes. Fashion and Function?

Capes can give a superhero that extra touch of uber-hip-retro style, but why did they all wear one to begin with? Well, it helped early comic book artists to portray motion and dynamic. Well, and capes are just friggin' fun.

If only people in real life were socially acceptable when they wore them in public.

WEEK ELEVEN! Superheroes. What happens when the outback is threatened?

Allright. so originally WEEK ELEVEN was going to be superheroes AND video games... well, truth be told... the superheroes are fun, and the video game sketches started coming out contirved... so it is going to JUST be super heroes. here's a little about why:

One of the biggest influences on my life and in my artistic style is the world of comic books and the treasures of super heroes found within. Comic books entered my life at an early age, and immediately clicked with my desire for adventure, fun, women, and the feelings of success.

So if you are modernly geeky like I am. I hope you enjoy the next five paintings as much as I will enjoy painting them. For everyone else... I don't understand why you aren't geeky.... it is so much fun.

If I could choose any one super power, this would be it. (Or reading minds) How amazing would it be to just lift off the ground, fly away, look back and get real perspective on life... then realize it doesn't really matter and just fly to europe or egypt or china or the bahamas.
