Kyte delivers first third-party video publishing app to the App Store for the iPhone 3GS

We’re excited to announce video publishing support for the new iPhone 3GS with Kyte Mobile Producer for iPhone, which is now available for purchase in the App Store on iTunes. Kyte Mobile Producer for iPhone enables Kyte users to easily record and distribute video and photos to their Kyte Channels directly from the iPhone 3GS. The app is very easy to use - record a video, click broadcast, and it's instantly live on your channel.

The application also works for previous iPhone models, but for photos only.

Kyte improves live stream experience

Hey Kyte Fans,

We have updated the Kyte Mobile Producer application for Nokia S60 phones to provide you with the best possible live streaming experience, regardless of network conditions. With wifi or a good 3G connection, the full stream is transmitted live, allowing your viewers to watch and chat in real time. If network conditions are poor, the app sends as much of the stream as possible, still creating the live experience for your viewers.

The cool new feature is that the app also stores the video locally and when your live stream is finished, it uploads any missing footage to our servers. The video is repaired behind the scenes, resulting in an improved on-demand viewing experience. So you can have your cake and eat it too - create the live experience and also have optimal video quality for subsequent viewing.

Here is an example of a live stream with a bad network connection. As you can see, the video freezes while audio continues -- a frustrating viewing experience.

And here is the same video optimized with the video repair feature in the new version of Kyte Mobile Producer -- dropped video frames are restored, resulting in a much better viewing experience.

Users that already have Kyte Mobile Producer on a Nokia S60 will receive an automatic upgrade notice when they turn on their phones and launch the app.

New users can install Kyte Mobile Producer on supported S60 phones by pointing their mobile browsers to http://s60.kyte.tv and following the prompts.

Today in London, Sony Ericsson used the Kyte Platform to live stream the launch of its new GreenHeart initiative.

GreenHeart is Sony Ericsson’s company wide commitment to bring to market more environmentally friendly products.

During the webcast Sony Ericsson’s Head of Corporate Sustainability Mats Pellback-Scharp showed off two new GreenHeart phones — the C901 and Naite — which were made with recycled plastics.

UMG Germany enhances label, artist sites with Kyte Platform

Universal Music Group (UMG) Germany is using Kyte as its online video platform, and has leveraged Kyte’s powerful SDK to enhance several of its artists’ websites and portals.

The Tokio Hotel site, for example, was revamped by web design company Scalp, which used the Kyte Platform SDK to create a sleek, custom show browser that allows fans to easily search and view professionally produced content, including the band’s music videos, webisodes, and DVD trailers.

Another example is UMG Germany's Songwriters site, which features the label's top songwriters. Through the Kyte Platform SDK, fans can click on a thumbnail image of a songwriter, which launches a Kyte Player featuring the artist's video content.

Germany’s Next Top Model Uses Kyte to Live Chat with Fans

Today, Germany’s Next Top Model used the Kyte Platform to conduct a live chat with fans during the season finale of the hit show.
