The Lady 'Stangs got their first win of the season at Western Plains. The Lady 'Stangs trailed by 3 after the first quarter. After a tough second quarter, the Lady 'Stangs trailed by one at the half. The Lady 'Stangs had a huge fourth quarter scoring 22 points. The Lady 'Stangs leading scorers were Karissa Langlois (12), Tara Bunker (12), Kristina Murphy (11), Mindy Wood (10), and Melissa Espino (10).

The Word of Life game will be played at the following location.

Valley Center Middle School
800 N. Meridian
Valley Center, Ks.

-Take 50 to Hutchinson Apprx 60 miles
-Take 96 East to Wichita Apprx. 40 miles
-Take Valley Center/Meridian St. Exit
-Turn left or North at bottom of exit
-Go apprx 3 miles to Valley Center
-In Valley Center, go to the main st/intersection go straight through it about 2 blocks and facility is on the East side of the
road.

Lady 'Stangs (43) at LaCrosse (46)

The Lady 'Stangs lost a close game to the LaCrosse Leopards by a score of 46-43.

The Lacrosse Leopards took an early lead with a score of 13-3 at the end of the first quarter. The Leopards were plagued with foul trouble early in the game and at the half the score was tied up at 19-19. The score was even at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Lacrosse leopards had two players hit three's to take lead in the game.
The games leading scorers were Tara Bunker with 15 points and Melissa Espino with 13 points.

Results from the 54 Classic at Cunningham

The Lady 'Stangs dropped three games at the 54 Classic with loses to the 54 Classic Champion Norwich, South Barber, and Pretty Prairie.

In the finals, Norwich defeated Skyline in a one point victory. In the third place game, Cunningham defeated Kinsley.

54 Classic at Cunningham

The Lady 'Stangs travel to host Cunningham to play the #1 seed the Norwich Eagles. The Norwich Eagles bring to the tournament a perfect record with notable wins over South Central-Coldwater and Central Christian. The first round game begins at 6:30pm at Cunningham High School. Depending on the Lady 'Stangs first round finish, they will play on Thursday at 5:00pm or 8:00pm.

The Lady 'Stangs lost a tough game against a good team in the LaCrosse Leapords. The Lady 'Stangs were led in scoring by Karissa Langlois (12), Keira Parr (11), and Kristina Murphy (6). Tara Bunker led the team with 9 rebounds. The Lady 'Stangs will host the Pratt Greenbacks on January 20th at Macksville.

The Lady 'Stangs hosted the Central Plains Oilers on Friday night. The Oilers started the night with a 16-3 run in the first quarter and a 20-5 run going into half time. According to Coach Norman, "We tried to simulate their full court pressure (1-1-2-1) in practice, in fact we put 9 players on the court to practice against all week. We looked good against it all week, but just couldn't handle it in the game." The nights leading scorers were Karissa Langlois with 10, Mindy Wood 5, Bri Evans 4, Keira Parr 3, and Melissa Espino 3. Freshman Tara Bunker led the team with 6 rebounds on the night.

In the first game back from the winter break, the Lady 'Stangs traveled to Cunningham, KS to play the Cunningham Wildcats. Mindy Wood led the team in scoring with 6 points, Kiley Freeman with 5 points, with Tara Bunker and Kristina Murphy scoring 4 points apiece. The Lady 'Stangs will be at home Friday night taking on the Central Plains Oilers.

The Lady 'Stangs dropped to 0-4 on the year with three losses in the 2011 Keady Classic. In the first round, the Lady 'Stangs lost to Kinsley 68-28. Kinsley's tough full court man to man pressure was too much for the Lady 'Stangs to handle forcing them into numerous turnovers. In the second round, the Lady 'Stangs played the Sacred Heart Lady Knights and lost by a score of 40-23. In the 7th place game of the tournament, the Lady 'Stangs battled for four tough fought quarters. They lost by a score of 58-40.

Macksville Lady 'Stangs vs. Ness City Girls Post Game Recap

    The Lady 'Stangs lost their first game of the season at home to Ness City by a final score of 33-52. Leading the scoring effort for the Lady 'Stangs was freshman Tara Bunker with 10 points. The Lady 'Stangs had seven different players score in the game, they are: Bunker 10, Langlois 9, Ponce 6, Evans 2, Freeman 2, Cross 2, and Wood 2. The Lady 'Stangs Karissa Langlois led the team from the free throw line shooting 83% or 5/6.

     Ness City forced the Lady 'Stangs into 40 turnovers for the game. "Their 2-2-1 press gave us problems, they really executed it well. When we got a shot on offense, we were limited to one shot per possession. We have to do a better job of rebounding on offense and defense (Coach Norman)."

     According to Coach Norman, "we played hard the whole game. There were a lot of good things that happened in the game. As a team we had 14 steals led by Mindy Wood (5) and Karissa Langlois (4). Defensively we defended the ball well. We played great defense in the gaps, help defense in the paint, helping on the low post, and defending the baseline. We began to seem more confident with the ball on offense. We took Ness City off guard by pressing them in the last four minutes to make a scoring run to end the game."

The Macksville Lady 'Stangs will head to the 2011 Keady Classic Hosted by Larned High School on Monday at 6:00pm to play Kinsley.
