This weekend I made the journey to co-host a boudoir party with my friend and fellow photographer, Michele Conaway. We had a FANTASTIC time! The hotel suite was fantastic and perfect for our session. Even though I had less than 4 hours of sleep before my 4 hour drive, photography always energizes me. Another perk (besides really loving to shoot) is that I could have as many mimosas as I wanted while shooting. Well, I limited myself to two, for fear that all of my photos would come out blurry and twisted!

I don’t often publish photos of my baby, but these were just too cute. My darling Maya, and her two best buddies Mia and Sydney were quite a handful to photograph, but  it was a lot of fun. The mommies and aunties had their hands full with the baby wrangling but we all made it out of there just fine.

Michele and I are hosting a boudoir photo shoot on April 21st. We plan to make it a classy, laid-back experience at a local hotel. Michele’s style is a little more naughty and mine is a little more glamorous. We work well together because we have all the bases covered.

The session will include make-up by a Mac-certified make-up artist, 45 minutes of shooting time and one outfit change for $75.

There’s not many more accolades I can give to this couple that I haven’t given already in their engagement photo post. Tyra is so sweet and gentle. I loved working with her and her bridesmaids. I’ve never seen a groom shimmy and snake his way across the floor the way Bryan did to get to Tyra before the garter removal. I want you all to check out the gravity-defying dance that Bryan did during the reception for the removal of the garter. It was so fun to watch!

Terrence and Domonique are so much fun together as a couple. He makes her laugh and she simply adores him. I also love that they’re so open-minded. We shot their engagement pictures at a local mall and that was a blast too.

This was one of those perfect shoots that almost didn’t happen. We had to reschedule our shoot a bajillion times due to the weather. In fact, it rained the day of our shoot, and I even called to see if they wanted to throw in the towel, but they were game. (I seem to get great, easygoing clients like that!) I actually prefer to shoot when it’s overcast, so it ended up being fantastic.

Thankfully, the fabulous backyard was also equipped with a covered poolhouse, so they took the wedding and reception inside. While the wind whipped around like crazy outside, they said “I Do” while remaining blissfully dry…until they went outside to watch their ceremonial fireworks. The guests were game to watch the fireworks in the rain and they went off without a hitch.

The next day I went back to the scene of the storm and took their bridal photos. Of course it was bright and sunny-absolutely no indication that a huge storm had just passed. It was a great experience and I’m so happy to have been a part of it.

During the shoot, it began to rain…HARD! We made a group decision to sit in our cars

to wait it out, giving the daring couple enough time to change clothes. Don’t ask me how the two of them managed inside a car, but being the troopers that they were, it worked out.
