The Lakers were buyers the day of the NBA trade deadline, as today the team acquired the point guard they have been looking for – Ramon Sessions.

LA gets the vet from the Cavs, as he comes along with forward Christian Eyenga. In exchange the Lakers will have to hire a California moving company as they sent Luke Walton and Jason Kapono to the Cavs along with a first-round pick.

Kapono, 31, is averaging 2.0 points on .382 shooting and 0.5 rebounds in 9.9 minutes per game in 27 games this season. He was originally drafted by the Cavaliers in the second round of the 2003 NBA Draft (31st overall). He has career averages of 6.7 points on .442 shooting and 1.7 rebounds in 509 games (87 starts).

Walton, also 31, is averaging 1.3 points on .429 shooting and 1.6 rebounds in 7.1 minutes per game in nine games during the 2011-12 season. Also an eight-year veteran drafted in the second round of the 2003 NBA Draft (32nd overall), Walton has career averages of 4.9 points on .433 shooting, 2.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 17.3 minutes per game in 493 games (138 starts).

Sessions is averaging 10.5 points on .398 shooting, 3.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists in 41 games (four starts) in 24.5 minutes per game. In 122 games with the Cavaliers, he averaged 12.3 points on .445 shooting, 3.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists in 25.7 minutes per game.

Insisting he meant no harm, Dwyane Wade revealed Tuesday that he has apologized to Lakers guard Kobe Bryant multiple times for a blood-drawing, nose-breaking foul during the All-Star game.

The first of those apologies, Wade said, came during the game when he saw Bryant’s face had been bloodied. Wade also said he sent the Lakers’ star a message after the game in Orlando, Fla. on Sunday night.

Wade said critics who questioned why he never offered an apology for the play — the likes of which seemed to be something not typical in an All-Star game setting — simply made incorrect assumptions.

“I don’t care what I’m portrayed as,” Wade said after Miami’s first practice following the league’s All-Star break. “It’s unfortunate, obviously. I don’t want to ever hurt anybody in this game, especially on a freak play like that. It’s unfortunate. I send my apologies. But it’s not intentional. If it’s something I did intentionally, it’d be a different story.”

A week ago, the Heat could make jokes about how they were out of the NBA spotlight, bumped by the meteoric rise of Jeremy Lin in New York.

Now it’s a different story.

Two plays seem to be generating the most attention from the All-Star game — Wade’s hard foul against Bryant and LeBron James’ ill-advised pass at the end of what became a three-point loss for the Eastern Conference.

“It’s an All-Star game. I mean, come on,” said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra, who couldn’t answer a question about what he thought of James’ play in the final seconds because he said he didn’t watch the game or see any replays of it since. “It’s a continuation of the theater of the absurd. I don’t even know if it’s going to motivate me to actually even look at it. I haven’t seen it.

“There’s nothing we can do about it, about the extreme exaggeration about everything that happens with our team,” Spoelstra continued. “All we can focus on is us. And at the end of the season, hopefully it ends the right way, and that’ll ultimately be the only way we can shut people up.”

His return to action has been rumored for weeks, propelled by an inspiring showing at the Pro-Am tournament in North Carolina last summer.

It only became rekindled by, according to league sources, an improved conditioning regimen that apparently has him looking better than he has “in years.”

In an attempt to find a boost in the backcourt, Los Angeles Lakers officials attended a private workout for guard Gilbert Arenas on Sunday in Southern California, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Two sources familiar with the workout said Arenas moved well and made a positive impression, but there was no sense of how quickly – if at all – the Lakers would pursue signing him to a free-agent contract.

On Monday in his hometown of Philly, Kobe passed Shaq for fifth place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

After Lakers practice on Wednesday (two days of rest leading up to tonight’s game at Boston), the “Black Mamba” said the torn ligament in his right wrist is completely behind him.

“I got through it,” Kobe said.

When asked if he would use the term “healed,” Kobe said: “Yes.”

The NBA’s leading scorer (29.3 ppg) said he stopped using the pregame injection that would numb the wrist to pain two games ago.

Selected with the 58th pick of the 2010 NBA Draft, the UTEP/Louisville product, who suffered a knee injury during the preseason, hadn’t appeared in a game with the Lakers.

In four games with the NBDL’s Los Angeles D-Fenders, he averaged 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in 23.5 minutes.

Rumors: The Lakers are said to be interested in free-agent guard Gilbert Arenas (attended workout) and have inquired about Rockets’ third-year PG Jonny Flynn.

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Mike Brown has been suspended for one game without pay and fined $25,000 for charging the court and bumping referee Zach Zarba in the team’s 96-87 loss at the Utah Jazz.

Brown will serve the suspension Monday night, when the Lakers play at the Philadelphia 76ers.

Brown felt forward Pau Gasol was fouled, but there was no call. Brown got two technicals and was ejected with 8 minutes, 34 seconds to play.

After Clippers forward Blake Griffin fouled Lakers forward Pau Gasol with 1.1 seconds remaining in the Lakers’ 96-91 win, Clippers guard Chris Paul tried to grab the ball from Gasol’s hands as the two began jawing at one another. Gasol and Paul continued to talk while Lakers guard Kobe Bryant got in front of the two as Gasol walked to the free throw line.

Before Gasol stepped to the line, he smiled and put his hand on top of Paul’s head. Paul immediately shoved Gasol’s hand away and tapped Gasol on his head.

“He tried to touch the top of my head. I don’t like that,” Paul said after the game. “I got a son of my own. I don’t know if Pau got kids, but don’t touch the top of my head like I’m one of your kids. I don’t know what his intentions were, and it doesn’t matter. I don’t know if he’s got kids, but I’m not one of them.”

“You’re a grown man,” Paul said. “I’m not going to put my hand on top of your head. They beat us, and that’s the story of the game.”

Gasol, when he was told of Paul’s reaction, said he didn’t intend to disrespect Paul by touching his head.

“I’m sorry he felt that way,” Gasol said. “I do that all the time with my teammates. It’s OK. It’s like if I touch your shoulder or your back. There’s nothing mean about it, but it is what it is.”

Kobe was able to relate with Paul’s competitiveness nature.

“Chris is chippy,” Bryant said. “I’m extremely chippy, and that DNA spreads to the rest of the team. That’s how it is.”
