I made this cocktail on Memorial Day weekend when we had some friends over for a pool party. It got it’s name because it’s super refreshing and who doesn’t love Outkast’s So Fresh, So Clean?

For each drink, muddle a bunch of cilantro and cucumber in a shaker. Add ice, 1 oz fresh squeezed lime juice, 1 oz of gin, and 1 teaspoon of simple syrup (add more to taste- I don’t like my drinks very sweet but other people were adding more to their’s…) and give it all a good shake. Strain into a glass over ice and add some soda water. Garnish with cilantro and sliced cucumber.

Perfect for summer.

This week for What to Wear, we are going on an ice cream date. I’ll be honest- going to get ice cream for us is more of a “holy crap it’s 115° and I will die if I don’t have some ice cream” than a proper date, but let’s just say this is what I would wear.

Sometimes it’s good to remember to stick your neck out and do things that are out of your comfort zone like talk to strangers and make new friends or take pictures of yourself in outfits even though some people find that weird :) I’ve had a lot of reminders the past couple of weeks of the rewards that come from doing new things and what better dress for these times than one covered in giraffes?

This week on What to Wear, we’re showing you our “power outfits”. I was a little stumped by this prompt because I don’t have a power suit, I wear what I want to work, and I’ve never been what you might call “power hungry” (obvi…).

So I started thinking, what do I think belongs in a Power Outfit? Well, duh, a power tie for one. And hello, every truly powerful person has a red phone- a la Batman and the president. Well, hey, I have both of those things so I guess I’m pretty darn powerful after all…

In my world, the powerful don’t need muscles and have perpetually messy hair…

I had my eye on this dress when it first came out as part of the Jason Wu for Target collection, but couldn’t bring myself to drop $50 on a Target dress. I recently found it at Buffalo Exchange for $12, so let’s also raise our glasses to the power of patience and second hand shopping, shall we?

We were off on the numbers so it was funny to see people try to pose for the wrong accessory :) There is no way to know the positioning of the accoutrements, so you just kind of wing it and hope for the best. Regardless, you are getting some funny pics on disposable camera film. The ones with the frames turned out pretty cool!

This vintage dress was the perfect score for summer, I can tell I’ll be wearing it a lot in the next few months as I’ve already worn it twice in the 4 days I’ve owned it. Each time I was with different friends, so shhhhh- don’t tell.

We just got back last night from a quick trip up to Oregon to visit my family, and celebrate my grandma’s 80th birthday. True to May in Oregon fashion, the weather was constantly changing. This day we spent in the part with our nephews was perfectly sunny and beautiful, but we had our share of cold and rainy on this visit too.

I only get to see my nephews once or twice a year so when I’m in town I get to force them to take pictures and swing with me :) They are really so adorable and it’s crazy to see how much they change between visits.
