My good buddy @jaysethan working his black magic on one of my babies. Jay really brought out the detail on this @stratasys 3d print using all kinds of old school ILM model ship tricks. Not bad for a cg guy. We wanted to go for an F16 type of look with a sci-fi biomech twist to go with the design. Jay not only put up with me spamming him with inspiration and explanation but he also nailed it right out of the gate. All of the details and filth really came through in camera during the @autodesk MIMIC virtual production test with the Kuka’s. Super glad @evan.atherton and Nik created such an epic robot plugin for Maya so we could bring this sucker to life. (at Lucasfilm)
What do you get when you mix the @stratasys 3d printed Dropship, 2 @kuka_roboticsus Robots, a @red Dragon Camera Rig, @arri programmable SKYPANEL lighting setup and a group of crazy people? The best PLUGIN test ever!! I was lucky enough to work with my good friend @evan.atherton and set up a shot using the new @autodesk Industrial Automation/Media & Entertainment tool “MIMIC”. This tool allowed me to plan out an entire virtual production shoot inside of Maya that then fed directly to the 2 KUKA robots to perform the shot. Lots to see here, Jason programming the Arduino based ship lighting, Nik Cote on the Kuka’s as well as tag teaming Mimic with Evan, Shara on the wireless focus puller, Wes taming the RED DRAGON 6K sensor and me just standing in the room in awe before the test hoping that my previz scene doesn’t smash the whole building down. It was a success!! The plug-in is epic!! More goodies to come!! (at Autodesk)

Had a blast being completely in over my head this morning while tackling my first foam latex prosthetic. Special thanks to @beelzecub , @frankippolito, and @howieweed for replying to my newbie texts and helping this cg guy out with doing “real” work. Haha. So much fun but man is this stuff hard. In my head I’m like “yeah I’m gonna dry brush this sucker and this..and that..” but the reality is “man I hope this thing stays on my face..and that I don’t glue my eyelids open”. Haha!!

Super7 strikes again. My daughter and I stopped by what she calls the “He-man store” right after she woke up from her nap. Epic Bob was holding a “Faker” Ultimate edition for us but we also picked up a Reaction 3.75" Battle Armor Skeletor, Terror Wolf from Super7’s episode Curse of 3 terrors, a Heavy Metal “Lord of Light (which is probably one of the coolest figures I’ve ever seen)…aaaannnnnd Bob gave us a vintage Beastman. Ok, thats all for now, time to catch up on Stranger Things.
