Brave New World

Some have said it looks like the top view of someone’s brain while others think it’s a futuristic Star Trek-esque Earth badge. In any case, we have a new logo, the first rebrand since its inception.

As some of you may know, Landmark Studio & Design spun out of Landmark Golf Course Products in 2009. The logo reflected that, evident in the similar logotype. The stylized chasing arrows with a globe overlapped with a leaf made up the circular icon portion of the logo—and a blue/green color scheme was chosen to fully emphasize our sustainability mission.

So, why’d we go through a rebrand?

The short answer? Our audience is much larger and diverse than we realized.

Sustainability has interest in many age groups with both men and women. 25-34 was the leading age group that viewed our website in 2014 and 2015, with 60% men and 40% women overall.

Our now-retired logo simply did not fully encompass or represent everyone. We struck out to create something that was truly modern, not just contemporary (the former term is often confused for the latter).

Modern is the potential future, truly ahead of its time.

Using the Golden Ratio or Fibonacci sequence as a guide, the new Landmark Studio & Design logo is both mathematically precise and compositionally appealing while also unique.

The ampersand separating Studio and Design has been replaced by a stylized plus sign surrounded by a circle—the ancient symbol for Earth. As such, the four quadrants reflect the ratio of ocean to land.

A new typeface was chosen for a clean, balanced complement to the geometric and circular elements of the newer logo icon.

A more playful color palette was also developed to elevate the logo beyond a flat design, giving it depth and a modern edge.

National Restaurant Association Show 2015

This year’s National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show at the McCormick in Chicago was definitely an amazing experience for us - namely in part by your interest in our furnishings.

The food was not bad, either (as if our love for pizza wasn’t distracting enough).

In either case, we appreciate your journey into the Conserve Section of the show and stopping by our booth. Our Ice Chest got a lot of praise, as did our Triple Tray and Bussing Station.

As we dive further into the food service industry, we are learning a lot more about what our customers want. Your feedback and continued interest is vital to that success and we thank you for it. We look forward to contacting you further and learning more about your present and future furnishing needs.

Our mission is to create made-to-order earth-friendly food service stations, waste receptacles and recycle enclosures for facilities that value an attractive presentation while trying to build a better world for generations to come.

New Innovative Products

As the ability to recycle advances, we should, too. We are a custom-manufacturer, like a skilled culinary artist, giving you exactly what you want and what you’re hungry for. Often times, highly-tailored requests from our customers will make our wheels turn to the point where we think to ourselves (with the utmost modesty) “this is an awesome idea!”

So, without further ado, we’d like to introduce two new products to our arsenal.

Newspaper/Newsletter Stand
Based on a request from our friends at California State University - Monterey Bay.

Easily display your university newspaper or newsletter (or both, as shown above) encased with a sustainable plexiglass door and make sure they are recycled and not simply discarded in the trash - or worse yet, end up as litter.

CFL Light Bulb Recycling Station
Based on an idea from the University of Pennsylvania.

Safely and easily discard used CFL bulbs. Patrons simply place the used bulb in a plastic bag and drop it down a chute into a bucket. There, it can safely remain until it can be properly disposed of.

Let's Take the Recyclables out of the Waste Stream!

In Wisconsin, we generate roughly 4.6 million tons of trash and recyclables each year:

That’s enough to fill a typical city street over 4 feet deep with trash (curb to curb) for 575 miles!
If you remove the recyclables, only 357 miles would be filled with trash.

Let’s see if we can change that number, not just for our home state but for everyone. If everyone does their part, we can keep those numbers down.
