"And now I look around and there's all these songs that are about loving our bodies and feeling comfortable in our skin and I'm just so proud to be a part of it.

"Because in a world that is a lot of darkness and a lot of scary [stuff], I'd like to believe that not only can people do good, but we just are good, we are good inherently."

Special mention to Wet Leg's drummer Henry Holmes, who gave the night's most honest speech.

"This is just a magical evening. My mind has gone blank, and I feel like I might wet myself."

3) Ben Affleck was not impressed

Salt-N-Pepa were there, and they were in effect, wanting you to push it back

This August marks 50 years since DJ Kool Herc and his sister Cindy threw a party in the Bronx that's considered the birthing ground of hip-hop.

To mark the occasion, the Grammys threw a special performance that crammed the stage with legend after legend after legend.

Kicking off with Grandmaster Flash's Flash to the Beat and The Message, the 12-minute medley made room for Run-DMC, Salt-N-Pepa, Public Enemy, De La Soul, DJ Jazzy Jeff (scratching his way through Rock The Bells) Rakim, Ice-T, Method Man, an exquisitely-choreographed Missy Elliot, Queen Latifah and The Lox.

Busta Rhymes stole the show with a rapid-fire, syllable-spewing verse of Look At Me Now, while Nelly upped the fun factor with the goofy Hot In Herrre.

Everything was brought up to date with Lil Baby's Freestyle and GloRilla's F.N.F. (Let's Go) before Lil Uzi Vert closed the set with a snippet of Just Wanna Rock.

"We started in the Bronx," declared LL Cool J over the closing bars. "And ever since, we've gone everywhere,"

It was the undoubted highlight of the night... but there was a glaring absence from Drake and Eminem, both of whom are boycotting the Grammys, saying it sidelines hip-hop from the major categories.

To date, Childish Gambino's This Is America is the only hip-hop song to win song of the year; while Outkast's Speakerboxxx / The Love Below was the last rap album to scoop album of the year, back in 2004.

A tribute is one thing, but the Grammys still have a long road to travel.

5) It was a big night for Kim Petras

Sam Smith and Kim Petras won best pop duo/group collaboration for their campy sex melodrama Unholy - which they also performed, with Smith dressed as the devil for good measure.

But the British singer ceded the microphone to Petras at the winner's podium, watching with pride as she delivered her speech,

"Sam graciously wanted me to accept this award because I'm the first transgender woman to win this award,"

Petras said, her face covered in a red satin veil.

She went on to thank the pioneers and activists who "kicked the doors open" - a list that would include Wendy Carlos, the first transgender woman to win a competitive Grammy back in 1970, for her pioneering synth album Switched-On Bach).

Backstage, she still couldn't get over the sense of occasion.

"All these years are going through my head of people saying I'd be a niche artist because I'm transgender, and my music would only ever play in gay clubs - and what's wrong with that, because I love gay clubs - but now I got a Grammy for making gay club music with my friend,"

she said.

"It's the best feeling in the world."

Missing mother-of-two Nicola Bulley booked a playdate with a companion in her last text minutes before she vanished, it arose today.

The home loan counselor, 45, sent the message at 8.57am not long prior to signing onto a Groups call while she strolled her canine along the Waterway Wyre in Lancashire, local people were told at a town meeting.

Her last locating was at 9.10am and after 25 minutes her telephone and canine lead were found on a riverside seat. An inhabitant of St Michael's on Wyre told the Mirror: 'She booked a playdate, 8.57, she messaged to a companion whose contract she had as of late approved to sort out for the young ladies to go for tea this week.'

The neighborhood , who would have rather not been named, said this was more proof she had no expectation of deliberately vanishing, adding: 'You could never have done that in the event that you planned to get moving missing.'

MailOnline can now reveal that the 67-year-old woman, Christine Bowman, told police she did not see Ms Bulley during her walk with her own dog Snowflake.

Ms Bowman said she was baffled by the appeal to track her down because she had already spoken to officers on the day Ms Bulley disappeared - and she 'doesn't know anything'.

The local resident - who police hoped could provide key pieces of information in the search for Ms Bulley - does not travel as far as the bench where the missing mother's phone and dog were found.

'The security camera footage that she was caught on was taken from the caravan park next to the towpath.

'That's as far as she goes, she doesn't walk her dog further along the footpath than that point.'

And Ms Bowman told The Mirror she was doubly confused by the public appeal given she'd reportedly already told police she had no information to offer.

The retired teacher said:

'It has made local women fearful. If they have husbands or partners, they have been taking the dogs out instead.'

It's a devastating blow for Ms Bulley's family, who have been waiting with bated breath for updates in the investigation.

In the appeal to track down the woman yesterday, a spokesman for Lancashire Police said: 'She is described as wearing a red and white coat with a fur hood, light-coloured trousers and a light bobble hat.

'She was walking a small, white dog. The woman was seen on CCTV at around 8.48am on Allotment Lane, close to where Nicola was last seen and was also seen near to the gate at the end of Allotment Lane.'

However a friend said:

'Their paths did not cross, she has no information on where Nicola could be sadly.'

As the investigation extends into an eighth day, a source from St Michael's Angling Association said the stretch of river where Ms Bulley vanished is notorious and 'very dangerous', with a depth of about 15ft.

Ms Bulley's sister Louise Cunningham made a heartfelt plea yesterday, saying she needed to

'get my sister back'.

Joining her family for a round of television interviews, she said: 'Something has got to have been missed. Somebody must know something. People don't just vanish into thin air.

'There has got to be somebody who knows something and all we are asking is, no matter how small or big, if there is anything you remember that doesn't seem right, then please reach out to the police. Get in touch and get my sister back.'

Ms Cunningham said her family felt they were 'stuck in a nightmare'.

'We're going round in circles to piece together what happened. We've got to keep an open mind,'

she told ITV News.

'We have no idea where she is. There's no evidence to point us in any direction.

'My hope is that she's still out there. We just want her home. Her children need her home. It's heartbreaking. We're such a close-knit family, we'd do anything for any one of us.

Police released a detailed timeline of the 45 minutes leading up to Ms Bulley's disappearance on Friday morning.

The mother of two first started walking along the path lining the River Wyre, in Lancashire, at 8.43am, having already dropped her daughters, aged six and nine, off at school.

Her Strava account reveals it's a route she took often and knew well, sharing pictures of her spaniel Willow frolicking in the field and in the river. On average, it'd take her about 30 minutes to complete the loop and return to her car, which her family say she parked in the same spot about '1000 times over' through the years.

By 8.50am on Friday morning, she'd bumped into another dog walker on the path.

The pair were known to one another and had a brief interaction as their dogs played. The witness left the field a short time later via the river path.

At 8.53am, Ms Bulley emailed her boss and by 9.01am she was logged into her Teams call. Her camera was off and audio muted as she listened in.

By approximately 9.10am, a second witness recognised Ms Bulley in the distance. Police are working to try to narrow down this timeframe.

Then, at 9.30am, the Teams meeting ended. Ms Bulley stayed logged on to the chat room. By 9.35am, her phone and Willow were found deserted on a nearby bench by another dog walker.

Lancashire Constabulary released a CCTV image of a woman in a red coat walking a white dog, who is believed to have been in St Michael's on Wyre when Ms Bulley disappeared on January 27. In an update, the force said she has been identified.

The dog walker who found the phone earlier said she recognised Willow but couldn't remember where from, and called her daughter who raised the alarm with Ms Bulley's long term partner, Paul Ansell.

Ms Bulley would often track her walking route on the Strava app, sharing her times and pictures of the walks with her friends.

She last recorded a 4.1km run along the river, completed over 42 minutes, in November.

'The combination of the depth and how cold it is at this time of year makes [the river] very dangerous,' a source told The Times.

Police continued to scour the river bank yesterday, with divers searching the water.

Ms Bulley's heartbroken family broke down in tears as they pleaded for help to trace her, saying:

'People don't just vanish into thin air'.

Ms Bulley's father, Ernest, 73, said: 'This has emptied our lives. We appreciate everything everyone is doing to find her. It's given us hope that someone might find something.

'There's two young children that want their mummy back. If Nicola is out there, just come home - contact the police or ourselves.

'The kids know their mum is coming home, they're thinking everyone's looking for her - so it's only a matter of time.'

Beginning to cry, he continued: 'Don't, it's hard... we're such a close knit family.

'We're a close knit family, we'd do anything for any one of us and the children would do the same for us.

'We're getting on in life, and the grandchildren, and our own children, are more and more important to us as we're getting older. So, yeah, I just hope she comes home.'

He said that his family hoped their interview would 'spark a light' that would lead to finding Ms Bulley.

Specialist teams from the police and other emergency services continue to search the area near the River Wyre including divers and underwater drones.

Officers are combing the riverbed near the bench on which Ms Bulley's mobile phone was found and where her dog was later retrieved by a local resident.

Trees and foliage which hang over the river are also being checked for any items of interest.

A solo police diver spent an hour in the River Wyre this morning, using a head torch to search through the murky water.

She emerged on to the bank just after 12.30pm this afternoon without finding anything of note.

Another police diver was seen getting ready to enter the river and take over the underwater search.

A police source told MailOnline: 'The underwater teams are performing what's known as an arc search, whereby they monitor the riverbed by moving in a side-to-side motion from bank to bank.

'As of yet nothing of significance has been found but it'll be a long, thorough process.'

The stretch of river close to where Ms Bulley was in the village of St Michael's on Wyre is about nine miles east of the estuary in Fleetwood.

Ms Bulley was last seen walking her spaniel Willow at about 9.15am last Friday along the River Wyre in Lancashire while dialled into a business call.

The night before her disappearance, she had been planning a spa trip with her sister Louise and discussing what treatments they'd get, according to her mother Dot.

At the time, her parents were looking after her daughters while Ms Bulley took a business call. She was 'upbeat', having recently secured a new client at work.

Recalling their last conversation, her father Ernest told The Mirror:

'I said we better go now and Nicola came to the front door, and I gave her a kiss and told her I loved her and that was the last conversation I had with her.'

Both Ernest and Ms Bulley's mother, Dot, 72, said their daughter's disappearance was out of character and revealed that they asked police if 'there is any chance' she has been abducted.

Asked about their daughter's state of mind in recent days, the couple said there had been absolutely nothing out of the ordinary.

She had no health problems that they knew of and was enjoying her job.

Ms Bulley, who 'lived for her children', had also bought tickets to watch them perform in choir and gymnastics shows in recent weeks, Dot added.

Ernest broke down as he told how hard it was to be in the same room as his granddaughters, aged six and nine, as they continue to ask questions about their mother's whereabouts.

'When I look at the kids, I have to go out of the room because I can't hold it together,' he said.

'They are asking where Mummy is and when is Mummy coming home? It's so hard.'

The family say the girls were 'sobbing their hearts out' when their father Mr Ansell tried to explain to them that 'Mummy is lost'.

'We don't know how long we can keep going before they realise. They think Mummy is coming home soon, but if this keeps going on I don't know what we're going to say to them.'

Ernest and Ms Bulley's extended family have questioned whether she was taken from the river bank, given there were 'no signs' that she'd slipped or fallen into the water and zero clues as to where she could be.

When Willow was found, she was 'bone dry' - meaning she had not entered the water - but appeared to be distressed by something.

Police say they remain 'open-minded' as to Ms Bulley's disappearance but do not believe at present that she was attacked.

Rescuers have so far focused their efforts on a tidal stretch of the river amid fears she may have fallen in and been washed out towards the coast at Fleetwood, some nine miles away.

Friends of Ms Bulley say that the doting mother would have never willingly left her family.

While the river is just 18 inches deep in some areas, the section where Ms Bulley's phone was found is near a sign which reads: 'Danger - deep water.'

Ernest noted there was 'no sign' of someone slipping or falling into the river - leading the family to question if someone has taken her.

He added: 'I asked the sergeant from Fleetwood a few days ago,

''Is there any chance of her being taken?''

and she said,

''I don't think that's the case''.'

The grandfather was not entirely convinced by the response as the location his daughter went missing in is 'such an isolated area'.

'We just dread to think we will never see her again. If the worst came to the worst and she was never found, how will we deal with that for the rest of our lives?'

Ms Bulley's mother, Dot, said the nights were the hardest.

She told The Mirror:

'Our worst time is when it gets dark. We find it really hard to think about wondering "Is she OK?" and "Where is she?'''

Even though police have assured the family they're working on it '24 hours a day', Dot and Ernest 'wake in the night and can't get back off to sleep' as they're wracked with fear.

Specialist search teams were pictured once again searching the river yesterday, this time helped by a police sniffer dog.

The animals are able to search large areas of water, both lakes and rivers, and are able to perform a search in approximately 10 per cent of the time taken by other search techniques.

Officers combed the area for clues on the river bank either side of the water. On one side of the river is the bench where police found her phone still linked to a work conference call.

The danger sign warning of deep water is nailed to a tree behind the bench - joined now by a missing person poster appealing for information about her disappearance.

Superintendent Sally Riley said:

'I must stress at this time that this remains a missing person inquiry and at this time there is nothing to suggest any third-party involvement in Nicola's disappearance.'

Speaking from the family home in Inskip, Mr Ansell said he spent all of Sunday searching for his partner of 12 years.

The engineer said: 'It is just perpetual hell. It is just utter disbelief. We are living through this but it doesn't feel real.

'All we can say is we need to find her. She's got two little girls that need their mummy home. We have got to get some good news now.'

Villager Nicola Dewey told the The Times she'd skipped her usual river walk for two days running in the wake of Ms Bulley's disappearance.

'It's really stunned people. It's silly, but we are now locking our doors,'

she said.

Ms Bulley has lived in Lancashire for 25 years, but is originally from near Chelmsford, Essex, and has a southern accent.

'At first I thought the noise was from someone's telly but it just went on and on, like a high-pitched squeal,' a neighbour said today, recalling the screams coming from the property at the time of the attack.

Participants in the Demand Flexibility Service will receive money off their bills if as they voluntarily reduce their usage between 5pm and 6pm.

It is the first time National Grid has implemented its DFS scheme since it was first announced last November, as the UK prepares for freezing temperatures this week.

In a further sign of the squeeze on supply, the company is preparing to use its back-up coal plants at the Drax power station in North Yorkshire and West Burton in Nottinghamshire today.

It will be the first time the two coal-fired power units are warmed up on standby, ready to generate in case they are required.

A spokesman from National Grid's electricity system operator said: 'Our forecasts show electricity supply margins are expected to be tighter than normal on Monday evening. We have instructed coal-fired power units to be available to increase electricity supplies should it be needed tomorrow evening.

'This does not mean electricity supplies are at risk and people should not be worried. These are precautionary measures to maintain the buffer of spare capacity we need'.

Energy companies say that smart meters are mandatory.

The plans were based on a worst-case scenario of the UK receiving no imports of electricity from continental Europe this winter alongside a lack of gas.

Britain depends heavily on natural gas to produce electricity, with gas-fired power stations accounting for over 40 per cent of its electricity supplies.

But international gas markets were thrown into chaos after Russia shut off most of its supplies to Europe in retaliation for the West’s sanctions.

While the UK does not use much Russian energy, there are fears gas shortages elsewhere could affect imports, leaving the electricity grid facing a supply shortfall.

The typical overnight temperature for England in January is around 2C, but this will fall as low as -8C overnight on Monday. It in turn means the 'freezing fog' will take longer to clear, with warning to motorists likely to remain in place.

A spokesperson for the Met Office told MailOnline: '[Overnight], temperatures will get down to below freezing with -8C as a minimum temperature. Moving into Monday morning, the freezing fog will be slow to clear.

'Outside of this fog, there will be sunny skies in the morning but it will remain very cold. As the day develops, sunny spells will pick up from the east, turning cloudier.

'For northern parts and Scotland, there will be rain particularly in slopes and hilly areas.

'Broadly speaking, Tuesday will remain very similar with temperatures again falling overnight but remaining above typical in northern areas.'

Temperatures are typically milder to the south and colder to the north of England and Scotland, but the current weather system is bucking that trend.

The Met Office adds that journey times by car and public transport are likely to be longer than usual, with surfaces likely to be more slippery than usual with a greater risk of injury.

The Demand Flexibility Service - which is only open to those with smart meters - looks to reward homeowners for changing their electricity usage in a bid to avoid blackouts across winter.

It is among a range of tools designed to help manage the electricity system this winter.

Craig Dyke, head of national control at National Grid ESO, said: 'These test results show that, if called upon, this service will help the ESO balance the national electricity network this winter.'

Speaking at the time of its launch in November last year, John Pettigrew, head of the National Grid, said that 'a vast majority of suppliers in the UK have now signed up,' to the scheme.

The National Grid is hoping that it will mean less stress on the grid, making better use of the country's electricity generation by ironing out some of the peaks.

Most customers tend to use electricity at similar times, with a particularly big spike in the evening when people get back from work, start cooking and switch the TV on.

'We're really pleased with the take-up,' Mr Pettigrew said. 'It will continue to grow as we move through the winter.'

National Grid runs the project, but requires suppliers to sign up so that their customers can take part.

Energy watchdog Ofgem approved the proposals for National Grid electricity system operator (ESO) to launch the programme from November until March.

Households participating through the programme will be sent a message from their supplier if there is increased pressure on the system.

It will ask people and businesses who have signed up to reduce or move their electricity usage outside peak hours.

Mr Pettigrew said that the programme could help take pressure off the grid this winter, but could also be pivotal in determining how electricity might be used by homes in the decades ahead.

National Grid has warned that there could be blackouts this winter if gas power plants are not able to keep running due to the energy crisis.

It means domestic users, plus some businesses, will be 'incentivised for voluntarily flexing the time when they use their electricity'.

Most demand happens during peak hours of between around 4pm and 7pm when people get home from work, put the kettle on, switch on their ovens and sit down to watch TV.

The scheme gives money to people who simply use less power at this time. The overall amount of electricity that people use does not have to reduce if they just change their usage to other times of the day.

For instance, electric cars could be unplugged during these hours, switching the dishwasher on could wait until 9pm and you could put the washing machine on earlier in the day or during the weekend.

To qualify households have to have a smart meter.

Engineers working on the energy grid need to make sure it is 'balanced' at all times.

This means that the amount of electricity being put into the grid by power plants, wind farms and others should match the amount being taken out by households and businesses at any given time.

The grid plans for when it thinks demand can be high so it can ask generators to meet that demand.

But if there is ever an imbalance where demand is higher than supply or supply is higher than demand, it can cause major breakdowns in the grid.

Meghan launched the blog when she was an actress in the legal drama Suits and named the site after her favourite Tignanello wine.

Recalling her first sip, she wrote: 'It was an ah-ha moment at its finest. For me it became a "Tig" moment – a moment of getting it.'

When Meghan closed The Tig down in April 2017 before announcing her engagement to Prince Harry later that year, she described it as a 'passion project' that 'evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity'.

According to Companies House records, Lucy was the director of two now closed PR firms – Project Smooth Ltd and LERMEADMORE – but it is not clear if Fraser is her married name or an alias for the documentary.

Lucy, who is thought to live in Teddington, south west London, was not available to be contacted for comment by MailOnline.

As part of their $100million deal with Netflix, the privacy-conscious couple have handed over a trove of pictures and video from their relationship including the moment Harry proposed in 2017 and filming himself in the VIP lounge at Heathrow as he emigrated in March 2020.

The first three episodes contain a series of barbs, including Harry's claim that he was 'literally brought up' by a 'second family' in Africa where he chose to spend three-month stints in his late teens and twenties as he came to terms with his mother's death.

Harry also describes a 'huge level of unconscious bias' in the Royal Family - with reference to Princess Michael of Kent wearing an offensive Blackamoor-style brooch in front of his wife at Buckingham Palace.

And in a swipe at the choice of wives by his male relatives, viewed as an attack on his father and other senior royals, perhaps even his brother William, Harry insisted that his decision to marry Meghan sets him apart from his family because it was 'from his heart' and not because she 'would fit the mould'.

He said his wife being an American actress 'clouded' his family's view of her - and they believed it wouldn't last.

Senior royals were said to be bracing for the worst and will be prepared to address any unfounded accusations as the new series drops on the streaming service.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had already made a number of claims in two trailers released by Netflix in recent days, saying they had no protection from the Palace and accused aides of actively leaking and 'planting' stories against them as part of a 'dirty game'.

But the Royal Family was said to believe that the series will actually by slim on new revelations.

A source told The Mirror: 'There's a real feeling in the camp that Harry and Meghan are making a lot of noise and there isn't much more to say.

'But preparations are being made for all outcomes, especially if there are unjust accusations being made.'

It comes after the Sussexes faced an awkward grilling from journalists about their explosive documentary in New York.

Harry and Meghan were asked if they were putting money before family as they graced a star-studded gala hosted by the Robert F Kennedy Human Rights organisation, where they received an award for fighting racism in the Royal Family.

The pair did not give a direct response, but the duke could be heard saying 'so many questions' before they were escorted inside.

Earlier, they told the ceremony that their war against 'oppression' has only just begun.
