Well the sign is pi$$ed at Ke$ha.   The Hollywood sign (the savviest of all signs) posted the following on its Facebook page:

There has been a lot of news about a recent prank pulled on the Hollywood Sign. I want to inform you all that it is a fake. The General Service Officers who watch and protect the Sign 24 -7, have confirmed that nothing has happened to the Sign. By reviewing the footage, they noticed that the Sign is flat where as the actual Sign is made of corrugated steel. Also, the angle which the girls take off from the Sign is a 40 degree drop which would be impossible to run on, especially in heels. It saddens me that an up and coming celebrity would choose to deface the symbol which means so much to all of us in Hollywood. It encourages her fans to commit illegal acts and pranks on the Sign costing the city and its tax payers money.

I would like to remind you that access to the Sign is restricted and trespassing is illegal. It is for your safety, there are rattlesnakes, scorpions, and other dangerous animals as well as a steep drop and poor footing. The Hollywood Sign is meant to be a symbol of the hopes and dreams of Hollywood. Unfortunately, someone who currently is having all her dreams come true decided to pull a tasteless prank on a symbol that is meant to inspire her. If she would like to apologize to the Sign, donations can be made to the Hollywood Sign Trust for the upkeep and painting of the Sign.

The LA Collection is a series of limited edition split 7-inches released on IAMSOUND Records in 2010, one a month going from March till August, in partnership with one of our favorite UK record stores, Pure Groove Records. All artists are LA acts hand-picked by IAMSOUND that represent the true talent and diversity that we believe LA has to offer. LA is one of the world’s largest and most vibrant cities and yet our music scene is wholly underrated whenever compared to other artistic hotbeds such as NYC and London.

We wanted this series of releases to help bring together an LA scene and showcase the depth of talent that exists in this city. All of the artwork is done by local artists Ingrid Allen and Elisa Saether, creating fantastical scenes of Los Angeles with oil on canvas on the front, and on the back, the typesetting would be done by famed artist and graphic designer Aaron Rose.

We kick off the LA Collection with a 7” from LA eclectic dance purveyors We Are The World, out February 16th (this one is not a split though).

I watched the Patton Oswalt movie Big Fan over the weekend.  I liked it, and it seems other liked it too.  Everyone seems to walk away from that movie with a weird feeling inside, but that’s a lot better than that “oh God why did I sit through that” feeling.  I also watched the Superbowl.  Next year it would be nice if they could get Cheap Trick to play the halftime show, at least their overplayed hits are still awesome.  Who Dat?  Some band.

Arriving from Netflix today I have True Blood, Season 1 Disc 1 which you said I’d like. I trust you, even though you made me go see Avatar.  I also have The Carter waiting for me at home, which I am very excited about.  I’ll watch anything that even resembles a Rockumentary.. this being a Rapumentary(?) I guess.  I’ve never listened to Lil Wayne but I’m a fan of prolific musicians.  It is possible that “musicians” could be followed by an apostrophed question mark in that last sentence but I don’t want to show my age.  Arriving in time for the weekend should be Iron Maiden: Flight 666 which Bill Janovitz of Buffalo Tom recommended on his blog.

Oh and I earned the tactical knife attachment in Modern Warfare 2.  It took a couple days of pistol kills, but it was worth it.  Oh, also I sprained my ankle and I’m using that excuse as to why I spent the entire weekend indoors.

Superbowl Sunday means I have an excuse to make and eat way too much spinach dip.  I don’t get all fancy, I stick with the recipe on the back of the Knorr vegetable recipe mix.  I stole this recipe from Knorr’s site so help my case by picking up a packet this weekend.

MAKES 4 cups dip
PREP TIME: 10 Minute(s)
CHILL TIME: 2 Hour(s)
INGREDIENTS
1 package (10 oz.) baby spinach, chopped or 1 package (10 oz.) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
1 container (16 oz.) sour cream
1 cup Hellmann’s® or Best Foods® Real Mayonnaise
1 package Knorr® Vegetable recipe mix
1 can (8 oz.) water chestnuts, drained and chopped (optional)
3 green onions, chopped (optional)

PREPARATION

Combine all ingredients and chill about 2 hours. Serve with your favorite dippers to your favorite people.  A new serving idea: Hollow out cucumber slices and cherry tomatoes. Fill vegetables with Knorr Spinach Dip and garnish with a sprig of dill.
