It should come as no surprise that some of the most expensive golf clubs in the country are found in and around Las Vegas. It's just not as easy as you might think to keep a lush green in the middle of a desert! That said, many private golf in the area don't even list rates, so one can only guess how steep the rates actually are. But there are still a number of private and public courses where you can go and play a great round of golf - and still leave the green with some greenbacks in your wallet.
I lost at blackjack last night but I still have $50 left...can I play golf, or should I just head over to the slot machines instead?

Well, I guess that all depends on just how lucky you feel. But if you are tired of giving the casinos all of your money, and want to take advantage of the great golf courses Las Vegas has to offer, then you are in luck...maybe. A growing concern for those wanting to play on the golf courses in the Las Vegas area is the fluctuating rates. Hey, we're all used to rates changing due to seasons, lighting conditions, reservations...the works. But some of the golf courses in Las Vegas have divided the seasons up in ever-more-imaginative ways, that seem to try and squeeze every last possible dollar out of the green. Sahara Hotel & Casino is one of the last vintage Las Vegas hotels in existence. Built in 1952 by Milton Prell, the Sahara gained recognition when construction and real estate developer Del Webb purchased the property in 1961. Since then the Sahara has experienced many addition and upgrades and is a favorite of many Las Vegas tourists.

The Sahara Hotel & Casino is located on the SE corner of Las Vegas Blvd South & Sahara Ave. This is considered the northern part of the Las Vegas Strip. There are 1720 guest rooms and suites. The Hotel Casino covers 85,000 square feet and is strategically located. Just behind the Sahara is the North Monorail Station, a easy walk to the Sahara. There is easy access to I-15 as Sahara Ave has on and off ramps to the interstate. Downtown Las Vegas is just 2 miles to the north, a simple cab or bus ride away.
Now what I really like about the Sahara is that it is family friendly. Sure it has the large modern casino, bars, buffets and all the other things you expect to find. However, the Sahara has family style attractions. There is a roller coaster call "Speed the Ride." This is an excellent roller coaster that features a 360 degree loop where you go forwards and backwards. There is also the Nascar Cafe and Entertainment Center. This themed restaurant is a tribute to the sport of Nascar. Next to the cafe is a cyber speedway where you can experience realistic racing action. There are video arcades and many other hand on action games. The prices for all this are very reasonable and there are many package specials available.
Also near the Sahara, across the street and a block or two south is Circus Circus Hotel & Casino. This is another great family hotel. Here you find free circus acts, arcade games, carnival style games and more. There is also an indoor amusement park here call "The Adventuredome." This is one of best family attractions and value in Vegas. You can purchase an all day pass for $24.95 have access all 24 rides & Attractions.
So, you can see I really like the Sahara but now comes the best part. They offer the most affordable rates on the Las Vegas Strip. I have seen rates as low as $27 per night Sunday through Thursday. On weekends you can get a room for under $100 a night. That is next to impossible to find on the strip. Don't worry about food the Sahara has 4 great restaurants and all expected amenites.

I have pretty much stayed at all the top hotels in las Vegas. Over the years i have put together a list of my top Vegas hotels. This article will list the top 5 las Vegas hotels that i have had the pleasure of staying at. Now my choices are not just based on the price of the hotel. I made my choices on personal service, casino quality , and lots of other criteria..
Number one on my list: Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino

This hotel is right in the middle of the spotlight of the Las VegasStrip, Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino boasts world class shopping, greatrestaurants, and wonderful entertainment for all of its hotel and casino patrons. It was imploded in 1998, then completely rebuilt from the ground up.

Number Two on my list: The Stratosphere hotel and casino

The stratosphere tower is the tallest observation center in the whole United States. The casino is over 80,000 square feet, its one of the biggest casinos located in the city of Sin.. Be sure to check it out.

Number Three on my list: The Excalibur hotel and casino

All desirable locations all over the world draw millions of visitors and tourists annually to hundreds of different hotels and motels in each particular locale creating hundreds of millions of dollars for the local community; however, competition between local hotels and motels, changing seasons, and local situations create changing and fluctuating hotel prices - Las Vegas hotel prices are no different. Over the last two decades, Las Vegas has developed into one of the fastest growing tourist towns in the United States - if not the world.
Dozens of high end hotels, each more involved and dramatic than the last, have been constructed with at least a dozen more in the planning stages of development. All of this construction has created an atmosphere that has driven a huge increase in tourism. However, like other tourist cities, competition has created wildly fluctuating hotel prices. Figure in the dramatic climate changes in Las Vegas and action associated in gambling, and hotel prices can vary by hundreds of dollars for identical suites.

With the construction of huge, high end entertainment facilities that combine hotels, casinos, restaurants, entertainment facilities, retail space, and dozens of other high end amenities under the same roof, the associated competition has created a dramatic local economy. Each facility tries to under price the other while trying to ensure the highest profit margin possible. Thus, each hotel wants to offer a lowest enough price to guarantee a steady stream of customers while maintaining a high enough market value to guarantee a profit. It is a tricky balancing act to master.
Added to this balancing act that every other business must truck through is the tough atmosphere that surrounds Las Vegas. Las Vegas, Nevada is a city associated with gambling, big players, and big spenders. The city has worked hard to create an atmosphere that caters to these big spenders. After all the more money a person spends within the city limits, the more money is invested into the local economy. Therefore, local hotels offer high end amenities including name brand retail fronts, five star dining options, and world case entertainment in order to draw these wealthier tourists to town.
Surprisingly, these whales (as they are locally known) often pay next to nothing for their hotel accommodations. This is true because the big spenders often come to Las Vegas only to gamble. Since the house holds a huge advantage over every gambler, they often end up on top. Sometimes a single gambler can lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in a single night. Therefore, each hotel, which also contains a casino, wants these whales to stay at their facility. Because of this, these hotels offer these big spenders huge discounts on suites because the count on them to spend ten times the value of the suites at their amenities. Thus, hotels want to attract both the discount spenders and the big spenders thereby creating huge variances in Las Vegas hotel prices.
On top of these complications is the added discomfort of the local climate. Las Vegas is located in the middle of one of the hottest deserts in the United States. Thus, hotels offer huge discounts during the hotter summer months in order to draw tourists to the uncomfortable climate.
For all of these reasons, there are huge variances between Las Vegas hotel prices.
