Rodney Stuckey appears OK after collapsing in Cleveland

Before a national TV audience, Detroit Pistons point guard Rodney Stuckey collapsed in front of the Pistons bench Friday night – one year and a few months after a similar incident.

During a time-out at the 2:30 mark of the third quarter of the Pistons’ 99-92 loss to the Cavs, Stuckey appeared to be trying to communicate with Pistons strength-and-conditioning coach Arnie Kander when he slumped over in Kander’s arms.

TV replays showed Stuckey, 23, shaking in what looked like a seizure.

He was attended to by medical personnel for a while before he was carried off the floor on a stretcher. His eyes were closed and he was wearing an oxygen mask. Read More..

USS Freedom Has First Sea Drug Bust

The nation’s first Littoral Combat Ship, built in Marinette, the USS Freedom (LCS 1), achieved its first drug seizure on Tuesday, Feb. 22, in the Western Caribbean when it disrupted a high-speed “go-fast” vessel and recovered more than a quarter of a ton of cocaine.

After locating the “go-fast” vessel carrying suspected illicit drugs, USS Freedom launched its MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter. Following interception by the helicopter, the vessel discarded its illicit drugs in the water and entered Colombian waters, where the Colombian Navy took over the tracking and pursuit mission.

USS Freedom’s team then coordinated with a Colombian Navy patrol boat and Colombian patrol aircraft to retrieve seven bales and 72 kilos of cocaine from the water. The drugs were seized by the U.S. Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment as evidence.

India Temple Stampede Kills 63

At least 63 people were killed and 100 others injured Thursday in a stampede at a Hindu temple in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, the latest in a string of disasters that highlights the terrifying frequency with which pilgrimages turn deadly when religious fervor collides with India's appalling infrastructure.

A rush of devotees during the free distribution of food, utensils and clothes set the stage for the stampede, which was triggered when the site's main gate collapsed, said Satya Bhushan Pathak, additional superintendent of police in Pratapgarh district, about 650 kilometers (400 miles) southeast of New Delhi. Devotees had gathered at the temple for a ritual feast. Of the 63 dead, 26 were women and 37 were children.

It was the second deadly temple tragedy in the last three months in India, where every year tens of millions gather in small areas lacking the facilities to control big gatherings. In January, 10 Hindu pilgrims died in a stampede during a religious festival on the Ganges river in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal. Players hoping to enjoy playing their PlayStation 3 games online on Sunday were sorely disappointed, as the PlayStation Network has experienced connection problems for many PS3 models over the day.

At around 4PM PST on Sunday, PlayStation Network users on Twitter began began to report that they were unable to connect to the online gaming service. Hours later, the problem seems to continue, to the point where Sony has begun to acknowledge the issue on its official PlayStation Blog.

'Showgirls 2' Trailer: Could This Film Match The Original?

Can a film be worse than the legendarily bad "Showgirls"? The answer to that question remains unclear, but a European director has submitted a possible answer with a very, very NSFW trailer for "Showgirls 2: The Return."

With no recognizable stars, repetitive background music and little discernible relationship to the first film, the trailer puts forth pornographic shock and awe to make its point (whatever point that may be).

Even more noticeably absent than Elizabeth Berkley? There's almost no dialogue in the trailer! This may be due to the fact that "Showgirls 2" was filmed in Germany and there's barely any English to speak of (pun intended, sorry), but who knows? Part of the unintended humor that drove the 1995 original to cult-classic status was the dialogue. Sea World killer whale trainer killed at Shamu Stadium

A trainer who worked at the Shamu Stadium in Sea World was killed today at approximately 2:00 p.m., while preparing a crowd for a live performance. The trainer has been identified as forty-year-old Dawn Brancheau, and there are conflicting stories regarding the events that occurred. The Orange County Sherriff’s Office is conducting an industrial accident probe. At approximately 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2010, paramedics arrived and found the victim, Dawn Brancheau, unresponsive in the killer whale’s tank.

Jim Solomon’s, spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, said that Dawn Brancheau slipped and fell into the tank, and drowned. Even if Andy Reid had been inclined to elaborate, which he most certainly was not, the release of a player who is no longer useful to a football organization needs little added explanation.

Before last season, the Eagles declined to pick up a contract option that would have kept Westbrook under team control through the 2013 season.
