So I'm a bit fed up with Podcast Pickle. I've had to send off for new passwords twice now, and for whatever reason they chose to stop supporting the old individual episode players, so I've got to go back and put in code for the new player. And I've no idea why episode 3 and episode 13 are missing from the big player at the top of the page.

Le sigh.

So now I'm trying a couple of new places with which I hope to expand the podcast's listenership. The first is Podcast Kicks, which aims to be the new Digg of Podcasts since, as I mentioned in episode 13, Digg pretty much ejected their podcast section. The second is Podcast Alley, which is where the little bit of code at the bottom of this post is connected.

Yeah, I got sick most likely because of Ohayocon. When you stick around 8,000 young folks and not-so-young folks together in an enclosed environment you're bound to be exposed to a cornucopia of maladies.

So I obviously won't be recording episode #13 until my head unclogs itself, but rest assured I'm ready to go once that happens. In the meantime, let's go bowling with Peelander-Z! I was lucky enough to be right there as it happened.

I've been very busy getting things prepared for the two nights of Anime Hell programming scheduled at Ohayocon, Jan 30 - Feb 1 in Columbus OH. Since we're doing two nights of shows, the other co-hosts and I thought it might be a good idea to wrap everything up in a pro wrestling theme, with Friday being "RAW" and Saturday being "SmackDown". Yeah, I know Smackdown's on Friday... it's the spirit of the thing!

So yeah, I've got this podcast thing lanquishing in drydock. The subject for the next episode is a gruesome twosome of Digiview Entertainment offerings: Thunder Prince and Beauty and Warrior. I have copies of both, shelling out $1 apiece for them at Wal-Mart.

I've watched Thunder Prince and am ready to proceed with the review for it, but Beauty and Warrior... Well, I'd like to speculate that the disc itself became sentient and, in an effort to spare the world further exposure to the movie through my podcast review, elected to break free from its mooring in the DVD case and scratch itself to unplayablity. I can get through the first thirteen minutes, and then lockup.

This is where you come in! Do you have a DVD copy of Beauty and Warrior I could borrow? Do you even have--gasp!--a torrent link? Contact me--you can be the savior of this episode!

In the meantime, I think it's in the best interest of getting the podcast back on the air, so I'm going to shelve this episode until I can properly confront Beauty & Warrior. I'm not going to reveal the subject--you'll just have to wait and listen!

I find "podfading" to be such a toxic, corporate-sounding term that I am very hesitant to use it. And yet it seems I'm falling into that trap, am I not? Rest assured that production continues on the next episode, even if it's been slowed to a crawl.

I've just returned from four days out in the woods at Gettysburg PA for a large Civil War reenactment, part of which was a four-mile march across parts of the actual battlefield. Over 170 men participated in this voluntary excursion (maybe 10% of the total that were at the rest of the event), something I'm not likely to ever see in my lifetime again at that scale.

Outside of my duties with that as a battalion sergeant major, which took a lot of planning and time away from the show for the past few months, I've been massively swamped with large-quantity jobs at my place of employment. We're talking 12,000 and 20,000 piece jobs where the equipment can output maybe 100 units per hour, in addition the myriad smaller quantity jobs that flow through the place every day. Pretty much every day in May and June has become a precarious balancing act.

The growing impatience I am seeing from the Cohort as I am increasingly nudged to get on with it is, surprisingly, an encouragement to me. It means you want more, and that you haven't completely given up on me.

Believe me, I'm working on it and you'll have it soon enough.

Gcast accepted the upload successfully this morning ,so everyone who subscribes via iTunes or other similar software ought to be receiving the file today.

The podcast's episodes will be moving to a new, generously offered hosting space. I will fix the show titles and ID3 tags so that they're all consistent, and it ought to be a more reliable way to upload new episodes than Gcast.

I'm pretty sure that I'll have to set up a new feed, meaning the current one for iTunes will be broken. But in the meantime I'll use Gcast for this one.

What I also need to do is listen to this entire beast myself to make sure I didn't screw something up in Audacity during the arduous editing process.

I'm aware that direct downloads don't work as smoothly as I'd like them to be--that it's necessary to rename the file as an MP3. Admittedly, I'm kinda kludging it from Gcast's URLs because I think they're really meant to stream and nothing else. I'll begin looking into alternate places to host the MP3s in hopes of having true direct downloads.

I haven't forgotten all of you--I promise. Yes, this podcast is now over a week late but believe me when I say it will be released before too much longer.

Time has not on my side this last week, and I find myself sandwiched between last week's Civil War reenactment and next week's trip to Canton, Ohio for the Pro Football Hall of Fame inductions.

That said, the show is nearing completion. I think I've got a nice review of 1986's Transformers: The Movie written up, tinged equally with teenage nostalgia and near-middle-aged cynicism.
