Galaxy Bowl</h1> <article> <h1>Galaxy Bowl</h1> <p>Buffy — Mon, 20 Feb 2012 06:00:19 +0000</p> <p>I was privileged again this year to be a part of the Empty Bowls Luncheon on Friday. It was the Empty Bowls <strong>10th anniversary event</strong> raising tons and tons and tons of money to benefit the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Not sure what this year’s grand total is going to be but I’m betting that it blew last year’s record total out of the water! I’ll keep you posted…<BR></p> <p>I love being a part of this event as both an artist and a volunteer because it’s just a blast! I always make a Gallery bowl to donate but have almost as much fun helping people find that perfect bowl to take home. (I KNOW I talked to all 1300 people there, I swear…) Anyway, this is the bowl that I made for this year’s donation. I named it the ‘Galaxy’ bowl for the fabulous way the inner glaze that reminded me of stars in the sky. Not a bad way to give back to the community. Only thing better was George Strait singing ‘Here she comes, a walking, talking True Love…” to me. Add in a perfect temperature of 74 degrees, in February no less, and driving with the windows down and the radio UP.</p> <p>Loud.</p> <p>Yes, sometimes I think I’m still a teenager.</p> <p>My sincere apologies to all of you getting our La Nina rainfall in the form of snow by the pound. I will stop gloating now but it <em>was</em> a freakin’ awesome day!!!</p> </article> <article> <h1>Starry Night</h1> <p>Buffy — Mon, 16 Jan 2012 00:09:18 +0000</p> <p>This Asian style bowl is my all-time favorite! There’s just something about it’s chunky rounded shape with the torn rolled edges that appeals to me over any perfect and symmetrical bowl. But the gorgeous deep midnight blue glaze with flecks of gold on the inside is what stops me in my tracks every time. <BR>The outside features a mutli-layered texture and my signature matte black glaze, hand burnished with a metallic patina in shades of gold, silver, copper and even a smidgen of red. <BR>The center of the bowl is holds an iridescent “puddle” of dichroic cobalt, turquoise and pink glass fused to the ceramic surface.</p> </article> <article> <h1>Blue Lagoon</h1> <p>Buffy — Sun, 15 Jan 2012 23:15:29 +0000</p> <p>This bowl was one of the first in my Organic series that had more primitive look and styled pieces. It’s a thick and chunky shallow curved rectangular piece with sea green inner glaze and my signature matte black glaze, burnished with metallic patina in shades of gold, silver and copper.
