As there has been some activity on the site as of late I thought I should make a small post so that all new and old visitors know I’m still alive and kicking. The fact is it’s been kind of hectic as of late so my poor little personal site has fallen inte dismay.
I am planning a redesign och all sorts of stuff to do and happen here, but we’ll have to see  when I get the time. I really, really want to start sharing and writing about all the cool, fun and interesting things I find everyday!

Oh well, it’s really late and I’m tired, but now you know I’m still alive

I was a bit surprised to be honest, sure I had been very active with them at the beginning of the year during the Mashable Awards voting [I voted for them like crazy - everyday]. But still, that they wanted me to be the first, of course I’d do it.

And so without further ado, here is your first InterRail Fan of the Month ….

Why I voted for them so much during Mash-Awards?? Well, the simple reason that they are one of the most active companies on Facebook and Twitter. They really try & do answer every question they get, and socialize with their fans, all the railers. So there really was no question who should win the “Best Social Media Customer Service”… =)

Well now, as some may have noticed, Facebook has solved the problem and you can now activate https, “whenever possible“.

This is how to activate it:

• click Account in the right corner
• Account Settings
• Click the Account Security heading (third from bottom)
• Mark the Secure Browsing (https) option

Option should be available to everyone, but if you don’t see it check back in a few days.
You could also fill in the ‘s’ in the adress bar yourself when you login so that the adress is https://facebook.com instead of http://facebook.com .

Oh yeah?? Check your Chrome version, right Now!

So Google has snuck in a new version of Chrome to all of us, again. Feels like I just downloaded v6, yes I downloaded it, it wouldn’t do it automatically so.
And the feeling I have, and you might have is correct. Google released version 5, around August 10th and today is, well now it’s 19th of October. Thats only 2.5 months, for TWO whole versions. That is crazy development time.

The question is should they really be releasing full version number? Because, like now, theres only minor fixes and changes. What are Google running for?
Is it Safari, well you’ve passed them.
Firefox - well they’re still at 3.6 (huh? how come)
Opera - hmm soon to turn 11 =D
Or is it good old IE? IE goes version 9 very soon, IE9 beta  allready out, so is that Googles aim and big goal in life for Chrome?

If it’s not, if they plain and simple love updating the version in itself. Very soon, like say 3 years, we will be on I’d say Chrome 40…

Yes Page Browser, it’s a new [for facebook] and easier way to find new, interesting, cool, what ever you want Pages. Finally, yes that is my first impression! Now if we could get this for people too, yes? no?
Because honestly, that’s been one of the big weaks points on FB in my opinion, it’s really hard to find new people. If you don’t hang around in groups and pages all day… Then again, maybe that’s what one should do.. hmm?
Lately on the otherhand I’ve been wishing I had less “friends”, so perhaps finding new ones is not an issue

Anyway, Facebook Page Browser has launched, do check it out!! =)

Business has been somewhat slow so far, mostly been working on my own projects, now owned by the company (?). And also it’s summertime so people are on vacation.
Have a few offers out which will be decided upon in the beginning of August, so cross your fingers…

With the changes that have happened and business that’s been started, this page will begin a slight transformation soon. It will change from my personal freelance portfolio site to just being my personal site, with some portfolio stuff. Hopefully, time accepting, more frequent posts and also on more topics than just web-development, I’d like to include more of my interest here too to tell you all about all the cool stuff.

Kalle as described at his own, newly released website
Kalle Kataila (b.1978 Helsinki) is an artist currently based in Helsinki, Finland. Kataila’s work is based around concepts of landscape, awareness and personal stories. He has exhibited with artists from The Helsinki School at Paris Photo, Art Forum Berlin, École des Beaux-Arts, Paris and the Finnish Museum of Photography, Helsinki. Kataila’s works are in art collections at the Helsinki City Art Museum and the Finnish State Art Gallery as well as in several private and corporate collections in Europe and in the United States.

The site has what you call a minimalistic design, with no more information than the essentials. As K.Kataila himself is an artist, designer, the layout and design of the site largely created by himself. I took more of a consultant role in that area, and then made it all happen with html and css. Everything, more or less, standards based or rather W3C validated (as I’m writing this there are some underlying dusting to do, no worries, nothing you can see )

Other than Html/CSS the inside workings of the site are handled by PHP and a MySql database. To my aid I used the fantastic CakePhp framework, which has a lot of built in functionality one take advantage of to build applications/websites faster.

I’m not going to go into more detail about Cake here now, I will do a longer post at the swedish blog, feel free to surf over and read it there in a day or two (use google translate if needed.)
