Bathroom Cabinet Before/After

I was going to start in the Laundry Room/Garage but it has been super hot here and I just can't stand to be out in the heat for long working on it. So I went for the bathroom instead.

I have organized this area multiple times, but with a man and two boys in the house it quickly becomes a mess of things thrown under the counter and half the time no one knows what is under there.

As you can see in both pictures we were not using the space to its fullest or neatest.

So to start I bought a few plastic bins to hopefully fix the clutter.

Two of the bigger ones and I had five of the smaller. I did not need all of the smaller ones at this time.

The next was to decide how I wanted to categorize my boxes.

I went with

-cleaning products

-feminine hygiene

-hair products

-hair dryer/ straightener and face cleaners

-products used most often

- miscellaneous

-toilet paper

Next was to pull everything out from under the sink and organize it into those categories and place in appropriate boxes.

Then to use the space wisely and to its fullest under the sink.

I had to work in the humidifier in the space as I have no other place to store it. It fit quite well.

So far this is working really well and as long as I can encourage the guys to put things back where they go it should stay this way! I like the look of it when I look under the counter and finding certain things now is a breeze.

The next step in the bathroom is cleaning the grout! Mopping is not cutting it! Any tips? They would be greatly appreciated!!

The new design is up on the blog. What do y'all think?

Moving to the new type of direction for this blog has been fun in the planning aspect for me and I can't wait to share everything I have up my sleeve with y'all.

To start things off I thought it would be fun to share a printable with you!

These are just a little fun goody for the laundry room as I think that is going to be my first room that I redecorate and remodel.

New Direction and Design

This blog has been about homeschooling for several years and now that both of my children are entering into public school I have decided to take this blog in another direction.

It will be about the everyday life of a mom. Me.

I will be crafting, organizing, making printables, cleaning, and sharing my daily life. You will get to see a new side of me, other than just a teacher.

That being said I am going to keep everything that is already on this blog the same but things may move around a bit.

The design will be changing starting today and I will be playing with it here and there.

I hope you will all stick around and enjoy the new way this blog is going. It is going to be a fun ride!

Moore Tornado 2013

The last week has been much of a blur in my life. I will start by saying our house is fine, but our town is in devastation. I want to tell my story though.

Monday, May 20, 2013, started out being a normal Monday. Austin went to school, Dylan played outside, and my husband and I enjoyed our normal Monday together. Weatherman said storms would start popping up along the dry line just west of our town around 1 pm or 2 pm. My husband and I decided it would be a good idea to pick Austin up from school at noon as storms are just not a good situation to get into during pick up time. This way we knew he was safe with us.

Storms started popping up around 2 or so (not sure on exact times) out to our west just like they said. I packed our normal tornado bag. Three outfits per person in our house plus the boys loveys. I do this for every storm that has the potential to have tornados. Something about having that bag packed makes me feel better as I know we will have some things for ourselves if a tornado were to hit.

So about 2:30 pm a storm moves into Newcastle, OK and boom a tornado has formed. Who would have known what devastation it would bring to our town. They then say the Moore area needs to take your tornado precautions as it coming your way. I have lived here 9 years and have been through tornado precautions and nothing has ever happened. The boys climb into the bath tub and I climb in on top of them. My husband places a mattress over us. The boys are screaming because they are scared and I start crying as I have never been through an actual tornado plus my children are frightened. I remember yelling for my husband who was watching the television to see what was happening as the storm was still about 15 minutes away. He comes in and he says they are saying it is coming straight towards our street. He says we have to get out of here this house will not hold up and we will be dead if we stay. So we grab the kids, our bag, and we have to leave our house and dogs behind as the storm is getting closer to us and we need to get out of here.

We start driving south to Norman as there are no storms there and we will be safe. I remember driving down the road and crying because I was sure we would have nothing left. I tried to stay calm but I just could not. I remember having to turn right at a street (my husband was driving) and looking to the north and seeing this huge tornado taking out our town. I was again for sure we had nothing left as the weatherman was saying on the radio it was moving right down our street. I was glad we were out of there and ok. We pulled over at gas station which was full of people from Moore. At this time in my first time ever I heard the weatherman say if you can not get below ground then I sure hope the people in Moore got out of town. Scariest thing ever to hear.

We waited until they said the storm passed. My neighbor rode the storm out in his bathtub with his two children. He called once it had passed and let us know our houses were ok. We drove back to town. Took and hour to get back to our house as traffic was everywhere. We turn on our street and debri is everywhere. I look to our north of our street and major devastation. The tornado hit just three streets to our north. There were ambulances, police cars, helpers everywhere. I was in full on shock.

Then I found out that the tornado hit two schools and there were children still stuck in one of the schools. Seven children age 8 to 9 were killed at school. I knew three of the kids that were stuck in that school but they were fine or as fine as they could be for everything they had to witness. Twenty-four people in total lost their lives during this horrible storm.

We went 6 days without power and after several mental breakdowns on my part as this was the first thing I have ever encountered this bad. We are ok and Moore, Ok will rebuild and be stronger than ever. Prayer is much needed in our town but the way our town has come together during this time is the reason I continue to live here!

These are just a few photos of the area after the tornado hit. Complete Devastation. Some are the day of and others are a few days later.

Please continue to pray for Moore as the community is strong but prayer always helps as those that have lost everything can use it the most.

I am once again linking up with Farley

for her monthly currently.

I am currently listening to the wind chime I have above my desk that we got in Daytona, FL on vacation last year. The heater fan we have blowing is hitting it softly so it is making a gentle noise.

I am currently loving the stage I am at in my life. I have a great family and I am growing as a person daily.

I am currently thinking organization. Making lists of areas in our household that could be better organized so that as I hit each room I can make sure I cover all areas.

I am currently wanting a hair cut badly! Everyone always tells me to let my hair grow out, but I can't stand it! I hate the way it flips out when it hits my shoulders, and the feeling of it on my neck grosses me out. I know, weird! I just am a short hair type of girl and I must get a hair cut soon!

I am currently needing to exercise (should not be on the computer) but my plan is to finish writing this post and then go get my 30 minutes in!

I am currently thinking of one little word and that is goals! It's a new year and setting goals is a must!

New Years Eve was quiet around here. The boys did some poppers before they went to bed at 10 (they got to stay up a little late). Then my husband and I had a little something to drink and we watched the ball drop at midnight. Nothing big but that's what we do each year so it's kind of tradition.

And with the new year comes Resolutions for most!

This year I decided instead of making resolutions I am going to make goals!

So my goals are to:

Continue losing weight

Be better organized in my household

Blog more often (I am going to try my hardest)

Limit my Facebook time (it is a bad addiction)

and

Put my phone down more often

I don't think any of these are too much to ask of myself. I just know the last two are going to be my biggest struggle. But that is why they are goals they are something I am going to work towards and not just cut out completely unless I find myself not able to do it at all. Then I will cut them out all the way as I don't want them consuming my life, as there are much more important things in life!

I hope you have some goals for yourself in this New Year and that you reach them all!

Thanksgiving Fun

Here is my currently....

I am horrible at having the TV on and not really watching it, but one of my guilty pleasure shows is watching The View. Its horrible gossip type TV but some reason when it comes on I have to listen to it!
I am of course loving my family and love that my husband works nights and so our weekends feel extended with him being awake on Mondays.
Or course which mom doesn't have laundry to do? And folding clothes is the worse! I hate it! I would rather it sit in a pile than to fold it, but I eventually fold it so my room doesn't stay a huge mess. This is also where my housekeeper want comes in! I would love to not have to clean or fold clothes. Who wouldn't?
It's Winter which means dry skin for me! So leads to my need of a pedicure. Plus I love to treat myself to a relax day every now and then.
And another guilty pleasure is music. I love music so much. Taylor Swift is my newest guilty pleasure and I love her new CD Red! Every song is great and catchy! Can't quit listening!

Many of you have seen the Thankful posts that people are doing on Facebook where the list one thing a day that they are Thankful for during the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. I decided why not post it somewhere that I can easily have access to and my readers get to see another side of me. So each week I will post one thing I am Thankful for for each day that week all in one post. So for November 1- 4 here is what I am thankful for.

November 1st- I am Thankful for the Lord above that gave me life, gave his only son so that I could live a life that shines for God.

November 2nd- I am Thankful for the life I lived as I grew up. My mom who cared for me and did anything she could to provide a great life. For my Grandparents who were there when my Mom worked two jobs to provide for use and who took care of me when they needed to. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for my Mom and Grandparents.

November 3rd- I am Thankful that God brought my husband into my life. We have the most amazing relationship and I am so happy to be married to my best friend.

November 4th- I am Thankful for my boys. They bring excitement and job to me in so many different ways each and every day. I can't picture my life before my boys were in it and I cherish the time with them daily.

I will be back next Sunday with November 5- 10 with what I am Thankful for those days.

Just a Random Update

This post is super random and scattered a bit so don't mind the jumping from one topic to another.

We have been super busy at our house lately. Making sure we fit Dylan's school in, Austin's homework, My school work, and other household activities.

Dylan's school is going great. He is learning and loves it! We have done letters A-H and numbers 1-8. He can identify them all and loves doing school.

Austin had his first parent teacher conference and is doing well in all areas of his class. He is reading more and more which is crazy to me as I no longer have to read him a book as I catch him all the time reading to himself.

My school is going great and I am finishing up my last math class and a management class right now. Next classes start Monday and I will be taking Biology and Paths of Pathology.

Other activities that have been keeping us busy is spending time with friends. We have new neighbors that we have hit it off with so our days and evenings are spent outside quite a bit socializing and enjoying our new friendships. We have also started taking the boys to the Lowe's Build and Grow Workshops when they have them and they love to build their own toys. I think it is a great activity as they are learning hand eye coordination with the hammer and nails and they get to see what they can create each time.

I am constantly working at new Learning Packs and I even have a few Freebies in the works for the next month! It's hard to believe that October is almost over.

The boys are excited for Halloween as they finally picked out their costumes. Austin is going to be a pirate and Dylan is going to be Woody from Toy Story.

We plan to go to the Red Ribbon Parade in our town tomorrow morning (if its not too cold), then we will carve pumpkins, and our town has a trick or treat down town tomorrow night! Super busy day tomorrow! Sunday will be our relax day hopefully. And then Wednesday the boys can't wait to go Trick or Treat in our old neighborhood.

That's how our life has been going lately and I hope to update soon with some school pics from our activities to get ready for Halloween!

First Grade Common Core

Common Core is huge around our house lately as Austin's school just started using it and we have to keep up with it. I think this book will be very helpful in making sure I have stuff to help challenge Austin when there are days with no homework or times he wants something to do for school.
