And, sure, you could just play, (for hours!) but there’s plenty of learning to be done too. With its informative placards covering history, game genres, concepts, inclusion in other media, as well as the interactive information and play sessions, the exhibit offers something for everyone. And it’s just so fun! If you live in the city and haven’t been yet, or you plan on visiting this summer, the Centre needs to be on your hit list for sights. Be sure to pack a lunch.

There was also talk about Virtual Console and Nintendo eShop updates for Wii U, Earthbound coming to Virtual Console, plus another new Pikmin type for Pikmin 3, and a quick showcase of the level of creativity in Game & Wario. But that was all really a lead-up to Reggie Fils-Aime’s unveiling of a 3DS-exclusive follow up to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, which adds depth and a bit of Super Paper Mario-style 3D to the gameplay. If none of that other stuff interests you, it’s worth watching for that alone.

Injustice features a number of characters and locations from the DC Universe, and the fighting arenas in which players will battle are multi-level, destructible and, well, basically take most of the recent innovations in Mortal Kombat, add on a few more things and you’ll probably be able to picture it, so long as you remember to put in the DC characters. The gameplay also steps beyond your typical Arcade, Training and Arcade Multiplayer modes, offering a S.T.A.R. Labs mission mode that goes beyond the story. Now, we’ve already covered the information about the various versions you can get, but to remind you of pricing, there’s the standard edition, at $59.99, the Collector’s Edition, at $99.99, and the Battle Edition, with the Fight Stick, for $149.99.

The trailer shows some of the interesting characters, vehicles items and environments that you can find in Toy Box mode, from a wide variety of Disney properties. Whether you’re working on your Toy Box mode world or a game, there are certainly some interesting items at your disposal. As a fan of Duck Tales in my earlier years, the inclusion of Scrooge McDuck’s money pit was instantly interest-piquing for me. The ability to use so many different elements from across so many properties may also provide some rather interesting entertainment (again, depending on players’ imaginations). The IMAX pre-feature presentation is also rather interesting, doing away with most advertising before the film, and typically leaving just one or two trailers, if that, before getting to the main feature. And it’s that pre-feature presentation that brings us to this week’s video.

Releasing alongside Arkham Origins will be Arkham Origins Blackgate, a handheld “companion game” coming specifically to Nintendo 3DS and Playstation Vita. Arkham Origins Blackgate is in development at Armature Studio and is a 2D/3D title that ties into the storyline of the console version and lets you “discover more details of the Dark Knight’s past”. Well, cash-grabiness aside, this all sounds like it should be quite interesting, especially given the fact that WBIE is giving a different studio a run at the award-winning franchise. Both Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate are scheduled to release on October 25th.

Special Features

Being a comedy, it makes sense that the home version of This is 40 features a separate blooper reel from the one included in the credits. There’s also a fun extra called “Line-o-rama”, which is just a run of improvised lines throughout various parts of the film. There are also a few deleted scenes (one of them an entire song played by Mark Everett of Eels), and a couple of musical performances. It’s all worth checking out if you take the time to check out the film.
