There are several methods to finding a profitable niche. The method you use really depends on what you’re comfortable and familiar with.

Here are just some of the methods that I’ve used to find niches to get into.

Amazon.com

When choosing a niche, we want to find one where people buy stuffs. There are many people who go online just to find information on a subject. We don’t want to target those people.

What better place, in my opinion, to find out what people are buying then the biggest online store - none other than Amazon.com. If I have absolutely no idea where to begin, Amazon.com is my first starting point.

On the left side of the Amazon website, you’ll see a list of departments. I would just choose a department that interests me and I will then be presented with a list of sub departments. All I do then is click on a sub department that looks interesting to me.

Amazon will then show you a page with products that are being sold. And somewhere on that page, you will see a top sellers list which will show you the top selling product from that department.

Items that are selling well on Amazon, are items that have a lot of demand. Which means that it is easier for you to make a profit from promoting the product.

I would normally choose a higher priced product rather than a lower priced one since it will take just as much effort to promote.

Amazon is not the only site that you can go to for niche ideas. Here are some other sites you can visit:

Ebay Pulse

Yahoo Buzz

Lycos 50

PLR Membership Sites

An easier method that I’ve tried out with success is to just join a PLR membership site that will do all the research for me. There are plenty out there. There are some that diversify across several niches. There are some that concentrate on one main niche. Some with a monthly membership, and some where you need only buy the niche package you’re interested in.

Good PLR membership sites will not only tell you which niches to get into but also provide you with almost everything you need to get started. This includes keyword analysis, PLR articles, a list of affiliate products you could promote plus even header images you can use. These headers can be easily used with Lazy Site Builder’s custom templates.

There are many other ways to find potential niches to work with but these are my favourite two. If I have time, I’ll add more ideas to this post later on but for now, on to the next step doing some keyword research.

I’ve been meaning to write a whole report on this but seeing that I have been pressed for time, I think it would be easier to just right this out as a series of posts on this blog.

So here goes.

The beauty behind the strategy that I’m about to share with you is in its simplicity. It is so simple that a newbie should find no problem implementing it.

Before I start, I would like to make something clear. This strategy will probably not make you $100,000 a month any time soon but has the potential to replace your offline income if you stick to it dilligently.

The key to this strategy is to build many smaller sites that earn around $100 to $500 a month each.

The great thing about this strategy is once you’ve build a site and making money from it, you can virtually leave it and it will still bring in income. Imagine if you could just build 10 of these sites. Do the math, this will bring in about $1000 to $5000 extra income for you. And if you keep at it, there’s no telling what the limit is.

But don’t expect too much in the beginning. But persevere and you’ll reap the fruits soon enough.

Okay, let’s get on with it. In this post, I will give you an overview of the whole strategy and in coming posts, expand on each phase.

Research a profitable niche

Build a keyword list

Find affiliate product to promote

Write content for long tail keywords

Build site with Lazy Site Builder

Drive free traffic to the site

Analyze conversion

Rinse and repeat

That’s it really. In the next post, I will go through the first step in more detail. So, stay tuned.

Now comes the fun part. Uploading your articles. Before you can do this step, you will need some articles. Though you can do this with one article, the real power of this feature can be seen when you upload multiple articles.

Before you can upload your articles, you need to make sure that your articles are formatted properly.

Your article needs to be in plain text format. So, nothing from Word that has been bolded or underlined. Just plain text. If you upload formatted text, you will find funny symbols on your webpages.

The first line in your article needs to be your article title.

The second line needs to be your keywords.

The third line needs to be your article description.

Each paragraph needs to be in one line with no hard returns.

To start a new paragraph, just leave an empty line in between each line.

The name your file is saved as will be the name of the webpage that it generates.

When you’ve finished your articles, compress them into a zip file then upload the zip file from within the Lazy Site Builder. LSB will then automagically convert each article into a webpage with it’s respective title, keywords and description.

Check out the following video to see how it’s done:

How to upload single or multiple articles & convert to webpage - 2 min 11 sec

Now, before you upload your articles, there’s one more thing you need to do. You can actually leave this to last but I prefer to get it out of the way early in the process.

What you need to do now is set your site-wide elements. What are site-wide elements? Put simply these will be items that will appear on every single page on your site, thus the term “site-wide” (I made this up myself by the way).

To edit these elements, you will need to navigate to the “media” folder on your site.

All you need to do is edit all the files with a number in front.

The first two files are self explanatory. Your Header Title and your Header Tagline. These will appear in the header image at the top of your template.

The next four files are ad blocks that appear on each page of your site. There’s a block at the top of your content, within your content, at the bottom of your content and on the side of your content.

The easiest way to fill these blocks up is to insert Adsense ads. But from experience, I find that it is more profitable to have an affiliate product ad in place.

If you do choose to use Adsense, keep in mind that you can only have up to three Adsense blocks and you should also create a privacy policy page.

Ads are not the only things you can add to the block. You can pretty much add anything you want. It could be an opt-in form or even an RSS feed from other sites for automatically updated content.

Check out the following video on how to set your site-wide elements:

After you’ve created your first FTP site, you can start building your site. When you log into the Lazy Site Builder for the first time, you will be asked to create your first webpage.

This page will automatically be named index.php. Please don’t change the extension to .html or .htm. To use the full features of the Lazy Site Builder, all your webpages need to be saved with a .php extension.

Creating your first page is when you get to set certain details about your website:

Web site Name - This is simply the name of your site. This will appear in your copyright.

Web site Template - You get to choose the look and feel of your site by browsing the templates.

Once you’ve set those details, you’ll be taken to another screen to fill in details about your homepage.

Here you’ll be able to fill in information that will make your webpage search engine friendly. This includes:

Page Name: This will appear as the title of your webpage. LSB lets you set different titles for different pages. The page name will also appear as the H1 heading in your page but this can be changed when you edit the page.

Page Keywords: Here is where you type in keywords for your page.

Page Description: You will also need a keyword rich description of your page.

You will then be allowed to add content to your homepage. You can do this right away or leave to later. If you’ve already prepared your content before hand, this would be a great time to add it to the page. When you’re done, just save the page and you’re done.

Here’s a quick video on how to create your first page:

The first thing that you need to do right after you sign up to the Lazy Site Builder is to create a site within the LSB control panel. To do this, all you need to do is click on the “Create Site” button.

You will then be taken to a form where you need to fill in the FTP details for your site.

You will need to fill in:

Full Web Site URL
The most common value for this field is a simple URL, for example,
—> http://www.yourdomain.com
Normally, this would be correct.

The only other option for this field is when you want to use sub domains. In this case, you will want to type in your sub domain, for example,
—> http://subdomain.yourdomain.com
Note that if you would like to use a sub domain, you need to set this up first from within your web host control panel.

FTP Server
This is usually in the following form,
—> ftp.yourdomain.com
If that doesn’t work, try this
—> ftp://www.yourdomain.com

FTP Username & FTP Password
This is not your LSB username and password. You will need to check with your web host. Normally, you will receive these information in a welcome email, right after you sign up for a web hosting account.

Web Site Directory
This is the directory that you need to publish your site into, in order for it to appear online. You will need to check with your webhost what this is. If you signed up with a Cpanel based web host, type in
—> /public_html
If you are working with a sub domain, this value will be

Welcome to the new Lazy Site Builder blog. I’ve been planning to start a blog for LSB for so long but could never quite find the right time to do it. Today, I decided to buckle down and do it.

As, I’m more concerned about getting this started than getting it perfect at this point in time, there will probably some things that may appear a bit off. The graphics may not be aligned or something along that line. So, if you find anything that doesn’t look like it’s not supposed to look or work that way, do let me know so I can fix it ASAP.

Anyway, I’ve set up this blog mainly to help current Lazy Site Builder members to use LSB to its fullest potential. This would include posting Lazy Site Builder tutorials and tips, as well as more general tips on niche marketing.

I hope you find this blog useful. Looking forward to your comments
