Why Entrepreneurs and (most) Startups fail

Just learned a new word ... "intrapreneur" when reading: http://techcrunch.com/2012/03/17/why-entrepreneurs-fail/ by Ashkan Karbasfrooshan .

Hard Delete in DNN

Nice tip by Chris Hammond on how to hard delete users in DotNetNuke ... still waiting for them to build this into the tool (as well as undelete).
SPAM Handling in Gmail For Domains

Gotta love it. Since migrating my domain over to Gmail for domains, I've caught over 90,000 spam messages ... much better than my old web-based email system.

As I type, Gmail is happily deleting my entire SPAM inbox ... wow!

A change of scenery ...

While this isn't really breaking news ... wanted to let anyone in the St. Louis area know that I'm officially moving from self-employed to "employed". Thanks to all that have supported LCM Research for over 15 years ... basically, I just want to do the stuff I like (coding, troubleshooting), and have a bit more time left over for important stuff (family). Anyway, here is my "official" release:

I’m accepting a position with IT Architechs (www.itarchitechs.com), an IT consulting firm that services clients in MO and IL. I’ll be primarily doing some development work, and am excited to be able to concentrate on .NET development, as well as additional opportunities to learn Sharepoint Development. IT Architechs provides software and hardware services to multiple clients in the Metro St. Louis area.

Again, it has been fun ... on to new things!

(And yes, spammers, I'll probably be keeping this blog up, and periodically deleting your idiotic posts! <G>)

Loving the Wii's Grand Slam Tennis

This is a lot of fun, easy to play (but not easy to play WELL on higher difficulty settings), as well as possible to play while walking on the treadmill or riding the exercise bike.

Especially like the antics of the pros ... occassionally they'll start limping after hitting a bad shot, etc.

See it at: http://www.amazon.com/SPORTS-Grand-Slam-Tennis-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B001U2BMH2.

A fix for a Gotcha in Dynamic Registration for Dotnetnuke

Just came across this error ... had my portal's password settings setup in web.config, but Dynamic Registration was still expecting the default 7 character password. A quick search on Google yielded the following solution (Dyn Registration has a field for this variable): http://www.datasprings.com/Products/ProductForums/tabid/727/view/topic/postid/1189/Default.aspx.

Great hint on configuring BlogEngine.net to run within DNN portal

And it works for "regular" .net sites as well. See: http://www.metanous.be/boblog/post/Getting-BlogEngineNET-within-a-DotNetNuke-website.aspx for the complete text ... simple, add the code to the parent web.config, then configure the BE.net folder as an application in asp.net ... done!
