IndiGo becomes the First Airline to Commence Operations from Noida International Airport

Ludhiana, June 15, 2026 (News Team): IndiGo, India’s preferred airline, today commenced flight operations from the recently inaugurated Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, becoming the first airline to operate from the National Capital Region’s newest airport. The first flight arrived at NIA from Lucknow today morning, while the first departure was to Bengaluru shortly thereafter.

Launching operations to and from NIA marks a significant milestone, for IndiGo, in further strengthening regional connectivity and enhancing travel options for customers across Delhi-NCR and western Uttar Pradesh. IndiGo will directly connect the airport to over 16 destinations across India. This also enables seamless, one-stop connectivity between 14 city pairs like Amritsar to Jodhpur; Bareilly to Bhopal, Jaipur, and Jodhpur; Dharamshala to Jodhpur; Chandigarh to Bareilly, Kishangarh, and Pantnagar; Jammu to Jodhpur; Jaipur to Dharamshala and Pantnagar; Kishangarh to Bhopal; Pantnagar to Jaipur and Jodhpur and so on. These connections are set to enhance access between tier 2 / 3 cities and major metros, making air travel more seamless for customers across India.

IndiGo temporarily suspends operations to six international destinations as part of network optimization; Retains 1,800+ weekly international flights despite adjustments

Ludhiana, June 04, 2026 (News Team): In view of a traditionally softer demand in the upcoming quarter and an incredibly challenging cost environment, IndiGo has decided to make temporary adjustments to a limited segment of its international network including temporary suspension of operations to Langkawi, Krabi, Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong and Shanghai starting 1 July 2026, and Siem Reap effective 3 July 2026, until 30 September 2026. IndiGo will resume bookings for all the impacted services starting 1 October 2026; however, should the environment become favourable, IndiGo stands prepared to reinstate these services earlier than scheduled, in appropriate lead time.

Notably, the airline has managed to retain majority of its international operations, i.e. over 1,800 weekly international flights, despite this realignment. These measured changes are designed to align capacity with current market conditions and demand trends, while ensuring the airline maintains reliability and network integrity across its global destinations. The airline will continue to monitor the situation given the elevated operating costs and continued airspace restrictions.

These steps reflect the airline’s proactive approach to managing capacity responsibly and minimizing inconvenience to customers, while maintaining readiness to respond quickly to favorable changes in the market conditions. Amidst unfavorable cost and operational environment, IndiGo temporarily discontinues flights to and from Manchester starting 31 August 2026

Ludhiana, June 03, 2026 (News Team): Due to continuing international airspace constraints leading to significantly increased flight duration and a challenging cost environment, IndiGo is having to temporarily discontinue its flight operations to and from Manchester with effect from 31 August 2026. Consequent to this decision, the airline plans to return one of the six Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, taken on damp / wet lease, to Norse Atlantic Airways. IndiGo will continue to operate all its remaining long-haul flights as planned.

IndiGo had damp leased six Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft from Norse Atlantic Airways in early 2025. The objective behind this project was to make strategic inroads to establish the IndiGo brand in the European market, ahead of the commencement of services using its own Airbus A350 aircraft. However, the airline has since experienced a significant impact of prevailing industry‑wide challenges, including geopolitical developments in the Middle East, rising aviation turbine fuel (ATF) costs, severe airspace constraints, and foreign exchange volatility resulting in operating costs being considerably higher than originally envisaged.

Abhijit Dasgupta, Senior Vice President - Network Planning & Revenue Management, IndiGo, said, “We inducted these wide-body aircraft on a short-term basis to fast-track our connectivity to high potential long-haul destinations such as Manchester, and witnessed very encouraging demand response. It is, therefore, unfortunate that longer flying times due to airspace constraints coupled with dramatically escalating costs compelled us to take the decision to temporarily discontinue our India – Manchester services. We would like to thank our customers, trade partners in India and in the UK, and Manchester Airport for their amazing support. The response and support for these services have reinforced our belief in the opportunity for IndiGo’s long-haul ambitions, and this discontinuation is temporary in nature. We look forward to serving this route again at the earliest viable opportunity and are exploring innovative solutions to continuing our collaboration with Norse Atlantic Airways.”

IndiGo will notify affected customers in advance and assist them with all possible options, including alternate travel arrangements or refunds, where applicable.

Making of a Cabin Crew Professional

In reality, these moments go far beyond just instinct. Each cabin crew goes through rigorous training and preparation to develop these qualities in themselves. On International Cabin Crew Day, here is a glimpse into the journey of becoming a cabin crew professional, where young individuals transform into confident professionals, capable of handling both people and pressure with ease.

Much More Than Service
Cabin crew are trained to be first responders, crowd management professionals, and crisis communicators, who also happen to serve customers.

Aviation is a highly regulated sector across the globe and like all other aspects, even the minimum standards for cabin crew are defined by the respective regulator(s) covering safety and emergency procedures, handling dangerous goods, first aid certification, and aviation security. These requirements exist because the consequences of unpreparedness at altitude can be irreversible. Yet airlines have consistently gone beyond compliance, recognising that technical readiness alone does not create a capable crew member.

What Training Really Looks Like
The training spanning a minimum of twelve weeks is structured around several disciplines. The foundation is laid by acquainting trainees with aviation regulations, aircraft systems, emergency equipment, and the legal and operational frameworks. This is followed by aircraft-type specific training, where crew are qualified on the aircraft they will operate.

Emergency preparedness is the most demanding component. They are trained to manage fires onboard, decompressions, medical events, evacuations, bomb threats, and hijack situations. They learn dangerous goods regulations, first aid for CPR, asthma attacks, panic episodes, epilepsy, and childbirth, and water evacuation and survival, including deployment of raft and other survival equipment. This training does not happen in classrooms alone. It is delivered through mock aircraft cabins, firefighting drills, water survival exercises, and full slide evacuation practice. The goal is to ensure that in a crisis, responses are quick and natural.

Sheetal Rana, Lead Cabin Attendant with IndiGo, reflects on her training days at ifly, the learning academy of the airline. She says, "I thought the role was about service. I was amazed to learn that service is only a small part; we are trained to step up when it matters most, which may be in any kind of situation. We shoulder a lot of responsibility when we step into that aircraft."

Trainees at ifly undergo assessments benchmarked significantly above the regulatory minimum standards and must complete supervised familiarisation flights before they are rostered as operational crew.

The high intensity of simulation-based trainings is by design. Neha Pancholi, another cabin crew member at IndiGo describes her first firefighting drill: "The cabin was filled with smoke, instructions were rapid, and we had to act instantly. It was intense. But it taught me how to stay focused under pressure."

The Human Factor: Communication, Empathy, and Presence
Emotional intelligence, communication, and composed presence are central to cabin safety. Cabin crew interact with passengers from different backgrounds, sometimes even in stressful situations. Training in active listening, cultural sensitivity, inclusive language, and tone of voice ensures that interactions are handled with both professionalism and warmth. At IndiGo this approach is described as “Service from the Heart”, where genuine care is treated as a professional skill that is practised and perfected. Trainees practise on real-world case studies: managing a nervous first-time flyer, assisting an elderly passenger, handling a complaint with grace while under operational pressure and a lot more.

Imtinaro Jamir, Lead Cabin Attendant, IndiGo recalls, "During training, we’re taught structured ways to handle difficult situations — starting with listening and acknowledging the passenger’s concern, then responding with empathy before moving towards a solution. These techniques help us manage our own emotions and stay calm, even when someone is frustrated or overwhelmed. We also learn to ‘bury the no’, so instead of focusing on what we can’t do, we try and guide the conversation towards what we can do to help."

A Journey of Transformation
Many who enter training programmes have limited professional experience and no prior exposure to high-pressure environments. Many begin with hesitation in engaging with unfamiliar people. Gradually, they learn to read emotions, understand unspoken cues, and respond with empathy. The training journey simultaneously builds technical competence, professional identity, and psychological readiness. The poise, posture, tone, and presence that passengers experience are rigorously cultivated through coaching, feedback, and practice.

Learning Never Stops
Aviation regulators mandate annual training to ensure that skills and emergency responses remain sharp and updated. If a crew member is away from flying for a long period, they must retrain before returning.

At IndiGo, every crew member returns each year for formal reassessment across safety procedures, first aid, communication, and service delivery. This commitment to continuous readiness is an acknowledgement that in aviation, there is no margin for a skill to weaken.

IndiGo today reported its fourth quarter and fiscal year 2026 results

Ludhiana, May 29, 2026 (News Team): Despite continuing external disruptions, during the year ended March 2026, IndiGo expanded its operations, with capacity increasing by 9.5% year-on-year and total income growing by 6.4% to INR 895,134 million. Excluding the impact of foreign exchange and exceptional items, IndiGo reported a net profit of INR 75,025 million.

Exceptionally sharp rupee depreciation, changes in labour laws and a challenging operating environment offset the operational profit and the Company reported a net loss of INR 23,936 million.

For the quarter ended March 2026, IndiGo reported a net loss of INR 25,369 million. Excluding the impact of foreign exchange and exceptional items, the Company reported a net profit of INR 19,206 million.

Despite these conditions, the underlying performance of the business remained resilient. During the year, our capacity grew by 9.5% and total income increased by over 6%. Excluding the impact of foreign exchange and exceptional items, IndiGo delivered a profit of INR 75 billion.

We continue to maintain a strong balance sheet with substantial liquidity, demonstrating resilience through prolonged periods of volatility. Revenue and Cost Comparisons
Total income for the quarter ended March 2026 was INR 238,307 million, an increase of 3.2% over the same period last year. For the quarter, our passenger ticket revenues were INR 194,258 million, a decrease of 0.7% and ancillary revenues were INR 23,515 million, an increase of 9.2% compared to the same period last year.

Exceptional items for the quarter ended March 2026 were INR 2,499 million, reflecting an incremental provision for new labour laws, following a reassessment in line with latest developments during the quarter.

Cash and Debt
As of 31st March 2026
IndiGo had a total cash balance of INR 516,506 million comprising INR 362,163 million of free cash and INR 154,343 million of restricted cash.
The capitalized operating lease liability was INR 534,608 million. The total debt (including capitalized operating lease liability) was INR 777,492 million.

Network and Fleet
As of 31st March 2026, fleet of 441 aircraft including 31 A320 CEOs (5 damp lease), 177 A320 NEOs, 172 A321 NEOs (4 damp lease), 1 A321XLR, 46 ATRs, 3 A321 freighters, 5 B737 (damp lease) and 6 B787 (damp lease); a net increase of 1 passenger aircraft during the quarter.
IndiGo operated at a peak of 2,241 daily flights during the quarter including non-scheduled flights.
During the quarter, provided scheduled services to 97 domestic destinations and 45 international destinations.

Operational Performance
For the period January’26-March’26, IndiGo had a Technical Dispatch Reliability of 99.9%.

Future Capacity Growth

The record to kick-start the G.O.A.T campaign
Under the supervision of the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records, the brand set a record for clocking the ‘Fastest Multi-Car Relay of a Single Manufacturer on a Circuit’. The record was set at the Coimbatore Automotive Sports and Technical Training (CoASTT) track, where Škoda Auto India’s fleet of five cars set a time of 12:30:97. This makes Škoda Auto India the country’s fastest fleet in total time, including the time for pit-lane changeovers.

The Škoda Auto India fleet – consisting of the Kylaq 1.0 AT, Kushaq 1.5 DSG, Slavia 1.5 DSG, Octavia RS and the Kodiaq Selection L&K - was driven consecutively by five drivers in a single, uninterrupted timed relay, with pit-lane change overs and set a total time of 12:30.97. With the relay format of the record, it was crucial that every Škoda in the fleet was up to the mark at the limit to ensure quick times for the fleet.

The sub-4 m Kylaq clocked in 2:31.6, while the Kushaq SUV and Slavia sedan recorded 2:29.7 and 2:27.63, respectively. The Kodiaq Selection L&K, with its uncompromising luxury, seven seats and 4x4 abilities, lapped the CoASTT circuit in 2:26.34, and Škoda Auto’s iconic sports sedan, the Octavia RS, topped the charts with 2:10.85 at the 3.8km long circuit.

The fleet proved its dynamism on the track, and its agility, manoeuvrability, braking ability and such dynamic aspects that finally translate to better control and safety on the road for Škoda Auto India customers. Ludhiana, April 17, 2026 (News Team): Amid growing dietary trends that label gluten as harmful, medical experts are urging caution against the unnecessary adoption of gluten-free diets, emphasising that wheat continues to play a vital role in balanced nutrition for the majority of the Indian population.

A staple in Indian diets, wheat is a rich source of complex carbohydrates, dietary fibre, and B vitamins. It also provides some protein in the form of gluten, a natural protein that gives dough its elasticity and helps maintain the structure of foods like roti and bread. Whole wheat, when consumed as part of a balanced diet, supports gut health and overall metabolic function.

In recent years, gluten has been widely misunderstood, with many individuals eliminating it without a clear medical indication. However, current medical evidence suggests that gluten is safe and well tolerated by most people. Unwarranted elimination may lead to reduced intake of fibre and essential nutrients, potentially impacting digestive health and overall nutritional balance.

“Gluten is often perceived as unhealthy due to popular diet trends, but for most individuals, it is completely safe and an integral part of a balanced diet. Eliminating gluten without medical advice can lead to nutritional deficiencies and may adversely affect gut health,” said Dr. Amit Bansal, Senior Consultant, Gastroenterology, Fortis Hospital Ludhiana.

Experts highlight that gluten restriction is medically necessary only in specific conditions. Celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder, causes damage to the small intestine upon gluten consumption, leading to malabsorption and systemic complications. Individuals diagnosed with celiac disease must follow a strict, lifelong gluten-free diet under medical supervision.

Another condition, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, presents with symptoms such as bloating and abdominal discomfort after gluten intake, without the intestinal damage seen in celiac disease. While its exact mechanism is still being studied, dietary modifications are recommended based on clinical evaluation.

Experts reiterate that in the absence of a diagnosed medical condition, there is no scientific basis for routinely eliminating gluten. Wheat and gluten-containing foods remain essential components of a nutritionally adequate and balanced diet.
