British womenswear designer Daniel Blake has announced he will be hosting sample sales this month, with up to 70% off selected items.

Daniel Blake designs and tailors elegant, timeless wardrobe essentials, recently worn by Samantha Bond, Sophie Anderton, Jodie Whittaker and Jade Ewen, and chosen by Gwyneth Paltrow’s stylist.

As LDNfashion’s borderline obsessive fascination with J.Crew’s creative director Jenna Lyons grows by the day, it was with extreme excitement that we received the latest news from the American brand – this weekend J.Crew are launching a pop-up shop at The Stables, adjacent to London’s Central Saint Martins, Kings Cross.

J.Crew began shipping to the UK last year, providing relief for those that normally have wait for a trip to Manhattan to get their hands on its accessible and super covetable garbs. The pop-up store is a smart way to whet the appetites of London’s style mavens, ahead of a full-blown UK flagship launch later this year.

At the pop-up shop, visitors can expect to meet J.Crew personal stylists ready to answer questions about the autumn/winter ’13 collection and, more importantly, help you pre-order your favourite pieces. The brand’s cashmere collection will also be the focus of the two-day event, showcasing the Italian knitwear in custom colors only available from J.Crew.

We’ll see you there! J.Crew at The Stables Friday 24th and Saturday 25th May, 10am to 5pm.

Calling all denim lovers! Not only does the eponymous boutique Donna Ida help you build your wardrobe (if you’ve never been, we suggest a visit to one of the stores sharpish), it also helps you clear it out, thanks to the newly re-launched Denim Drive initiative that first began in 2010.

Running from May 27th until June 21st, for every pair of unwanted jeans you donate in-store or online, you will receive a £20 voucher to spend on your next jeans purchase in return, with the money going to two very worthy causes – Newlife and Jeans for Genes.

We’ve certainly got a few unloved pairs that we will be donating, and who needs an excuse to invest in a new pair of skinnies anyway?

The house of Louis Vuitton has launched a series of travel books, designed to be an accompaniment to the brand’s already-popular city guides. The tomes detail the best places to eat, drink, shop, stay and be seen, and are illustrated with work by emerging artists picked by the Louis Vuitton team.

Tokyo-born Natsko Seki is the talented hand behind the London edition, which takes us on a delightful pictorial journey from Regent’s Canal, via some inevitable red telephone boxes, the ex-industrial Tate Modern and onto the Bank of England.

The tour does not end there, as can only be expected with our sprawling capital. In fact, Seki already had in mind some of the London landmarks she wanted to draw, but as she started the project and began to walk around the city, her list inevitably took on a life of its own. The result is far from the clunky travel-guides we might previously have known; it is a piece of art that even the most discerning coffee table would be proud of and will encourage you to look at London through freshly illustrated lenses.

Richard Nicoll’s latest capsule collection for UK retailer MatchesFashion, including pieces for both men and women, is now available to view online.

Shoppable from 22 May, the pared-down 13-piece collection, in an understated colour palette of blue, grey and burgundy, is what Nicoll has himself described as the new ‘special normal’.

He envisioned a season-less and timeless collection, stepping away from demographic confines – these are efficient pieces which can be worn all year round, by men and women alike, and in layers or as standalone designs. With its deliberate androgyny, Nicoll’s collection looks entirely of-the-moment and is instantly covetable.

Prices range from £85 for the men’s jersey colour-block T-shirt, up to £1,485 for the women’s navy leather bomber jacket; there’s a leather bomber for the men, too, this time in plum-red and coming in at £1,350.
