Dog's Eye View on important Conversations

Conversations I've noticed that impact LearnDog and our community building efforts. There are several, will only address one today - based on a podcast from NetSquared where Mena Trott (Six Apart) talks with Marnie Webb.

I interrupt and talk all over the conversation about - not having to be a citizen journalist, the magic number 'six' in typepad, small groups aggregating around a cause, and other thoughts on building networks of networks.

Dave Slusher - EvilGeniusChronicles

Next, I replay a piece from the 'Asynchronous (Space Telephone) conversation' Dave Slusher and I had, where he talks about Buckminster Fuller Geodesic Domes. I suggest there is some wisdom in thinking about how to structure networks of networks according to shape.

Conclusion

Lets try to get some more conversation going about these important concepts. LearnDog has to figure this stuff out to change the world - our learnings will probably be useful to other social activists. • I feel much more deeply connected to Dave Slusher than I did before. This is as a result of our connection to Cam from Gday world. Now David 'LifeKludger' Wallace is connected to all of us. How GEODESIC is that!

• My immediate response was lets start the LearnDog LifeHack show on TPN right now.
• The next morning I thought - LearnDog needs to help out with hosting / production of the TPN LifeHack show
• On reflection, we need to recruit a young show host and let them decide what its called an how it works. Dave 'LifeKludger' Wallace has some strong feelings about what the show and Cam's 'Forgotten Army' should address. LearnDog will support the host, appear on the show and look for opportunities to steer conversations that will help kids form networks for recognition.

• I've been a passive listener to Dave Slusher's Evil Genius Chronicles since I discovered PodCasts early this year. A couple of things have caught my ATTENTION in the last couple of shows - the notion of 'Lifters' or 'UpLifters', and deeper rss connections with people using audio.

• I'm wrestling with the concpets of language which underpin the ReMix culture that is thriving on the read/write web2.0. For LearnDog to be relevant, we need to figure some of this stuff out. This podcast is an attempt to do just that.

• Example of teenage kids speaking in this new language - remixing content, constructing online presence. A girl mourning the death of her stepfather, a boy trying to expose his faith-based music creations to the world.

• Listen to a remix of a harsh interview with a rock-star and a rather cathartic (and somewhat subversive) response - which is itself a remix! From TripleJ's excellent podcasts.
