Guys you like Irish yea I mean it’s alright but I am Irish and live in Ireland only a few regions still purely speak it but half the people hate it,prop because it got a bad name cause the way they taught it 60 years ago hit you with a ruller if you got a spelling wrong.
@guy1234 They also hit you to teach you English poetry, geography, history, maths, French, science – the list goes on. It’s up to you to appreciate the language you have.

Your’e a disgrace, dear. Is this what’s left of Ireland? Get back to your ancestry or some smart-arse outsider will do it for you and you’d hate that, wouldn’t you. We might all move back there. Bring back Irish pride! Language. Or are the Irish completely over it? God I hate tyrannical feck-head England for all she’s done… to everyone! Fight with old language. Grrrrrr!!!

I’m of Scottish and Irish descent and I’ve always been disappointed that more of my family don’t speak Gaelic. My gram (Scottish) spoke a lot of it, and I picked it up from her, but there is a difference between Scotties and Irish Gaelic. So now I’m really hoping to learn the latter. Everyone tells me I sound Irish (I don’t hear it, but I guess they do), so I might as well learn the language too! (^.^)
And Guy … don’t worry about it. I was born and raised in an English speaking country (Canada) and I really don’t like English. lol I think it’s an ugly language, truth be told. At least North American English is. I love to listen to English spoken by the Scots or Irish. Sounds like chocolate then. (^^) So it’s okay to not love your language, because not everyone does.
@Beth I agree. Generally speaking, people in Ireland don’t realise the interest internationally in learning our native language.

I’ve been learning bits of Gaelic myself and if I truly have irish in me then I want to master my native laguage. I hate that Gaelic isn’t taught in America.
