Administration Console has tabs that are accessible at all times when we have to login and use the tabs to perform tasks such as viewing log events or configuring service properties. Administration Console has the following tabs.

Domain
Logs
Administration
Upgrade
Manage Account

Domain Tab

Domain tab is used to view information about a domain and to manage objects within the domain. The Domain tab comes by default when you log in to the Administration Console. Domain tab has the following components.

1. Create menu
It create an object in the domain. Using create menu we can create folders, grids, licenses,

Integration Services, SAP BW Services, and Repository Services.

2. Remove button
It is used to remove an object from the domain.

3. Move button
Moves an object to a folder.

4. Navigator
Navigator appears on the left side of the Domain tab and it displays domain objects

5. Main window
Main window displays properties and options based on the object selected in the Navigator and the tab selected in the Main window

Logs Tab

In Logs tab, we can view domain and application service logs. The Logs tab has the following components.

1. Search options
           It configures search options for domain or application service logs.
2. Log Viewer
           It displays log events based on the search options.
3. Save link
           Save the events from the query to file.
4. Customization link
           Customize the columns that appear in the Log Viewer.
5. Configuration link
            It configure the Log Manager.

Administration Tab

We can manage users and monitor user and domain activity on the Administration tab using the following options.

1. Manage Users
           We can create, view, and modify domain users on the Administration tab. When we view users, we     can see the login name and description. Click a login name to view information about the user, such as the email address and phone number.
2. User Activity Monitoring
           Generate a user activity report based on user name and time period.
3. Domain Activity Monitoring
           Generate a domain activity report for a specific time period.

Upgrade Tab

This tab is used when we want to upgrade from PowerCenter 6.x or 7.x, we must upgrade the PowerCenter Server and Repository Server to services. The PowerCenter Server upgrades to an Integration Service, and the Repository Server upgrades to a Repository Service. The Upgrade tab appears if you set the user preferences to display it.

Manage Account Tab

The Manage Account tab displays information for your login. Manage Account tab displays the following options.

1. Change password
            Change your password to the Administration Console.
2. Personal profile
            View or modify your personal profile.
3. User preferences
            Set user preferences

WORKING WITH POWERCENTER-Administration Console Overview

PowerCenter 8 Administration Console is the administration tool which we can use to administer the PowerCenter domain. If we have a user login to the domain, we can access the Administration Console. Using the Administration Console we can perform administrative tasks such as managing user accounts, and domain objects. These domain objects includes services, nodes, grids logs,, folders, and licenses.

We have to open any internet explorer for example Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. And Type the following in the address field.
http://<host>:<port>/adminconsole.
For example https://amar-fa638557e2:8443/adminconsole/
Enter the domain user name and password.
Click Login.

What is data warehousing ?

Data warehousing is subject-oriented, integrated, time-variant, and non-volatile collection of data in support of management’s decision-making process.
A data warehouse is data management and data analysis.
Data webhouse is a distributed data warehouse that is implement over the web with no central data repository.
Goal is to integrate enterprise wide corporate data into a single repository from which users can easily run queries.

EXPLANATION :

Subject-oriented: WH is organized around the major subjects of the enterprise..rather than the major application areas.. This is reflected in the need to store decision-support data rather than application-oriented data.

Integrated: Because the source data come together from different enterprise-wide applications systems. The source data is often inconsistent using..The integrated data source must be made consistent to present a unified view of the data to the users.

Time-variant: The source data in the WH is only accurate and valid at some point in time or over some time interval. The time-variance of the data warehouse is also shown in the extended time that the data is held, the implicit or explicit association of time with all data, and the fact that the data represents a series of snapshots.

Non-volatile: Data is not update in real time but is refresh from OS on a regular basis. New data is always added as a supplement to DB, rather than replacement. The DB continually absorbs this new data, incrementally integrating it with previous data.
