	I had the opportunity to attend &lt;a href="http://archive.techlearning.com/events/techforum/southwest09/"&gt;Tech Forum Southwest&lt;/a&gt; in the &lt;a href="http://www.thecrossingsaustin.com/"&gt;backwoods of Austin, Texas&lt;/a&gt; on Friday, November 6. Clarence is a middle school teacher from Snow Lake, Manitoba and he shared his take on information literacy, web bias, and the importance of recognizing that much of knowledge today is constructed online.       <title>Internet Safety Unit for 7th grade </title>

	Our 7th graders just finished a unit on Internet Safety, Cyberbullying, and Digital Citizenship. I love it when we can use fun technology to showcase what they&amp;#39;ve learned. To this effect, students created a poster using Comic Life illustrating a certain focus on the subject. They also created short &lt;a href="http://mistermak.posterous.com/tag/internetsafety"&gt;audio public service announcements&lt;/a&gt; that were posted to &lt;a href="http://www.posterous.com"&gt;Posterous&lt;/a&gt;, my new favorite blogging platform. Today, I am going to share with you some resources that relate to scoring guides, or rubrics, which can help differentiate learning with respect to assessment. Scoring guides and rubrics are great ways to assess projects that may not be as objective in nature (i.e. multiple choice exams) so that accountable consistency can take place when assessing big assignments with less than clear-cut answers.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Arial;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Arial; font-weight: bold;"&gt;RubiStar &amp;#8211; &lt;a href="http://rubistar.4teachers.org/"&gt;http://rubistar.4teachers.org&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-left: .5in;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Arial;"&gt;This is my go-to site for creating scoring guides for class projects. You can start with a template rubric that you can then customize to your needs and then you can save it for future use or editing. Teachers who tend to use rubrics for grading can inadvertently cheat students out of a grade if they simply use the number of points earned divided by the total possible points. Nice collection of stories you can display on your board. In many of the stories, students can interact with the characters and respond to different question prompts. learning resources from the federal government and compiles resources from
different agencies. Peruse more than 1,500 educational resources for your
classroom. I haven&amp;#8217;t looked very closely at the site but I like the idea
that this is acting as a free clearinghouse for resources and activities. Let

      &lt;p&gt;Robots! Cinco Ranch High School students built this contraption to shoot balls to a moving wagon, measuring distance and speed through a mounted camera. This is so cool. My son Ben stood there literally for an hour watching and asking questions. I think he&amp;#39;s ready to join the robotics club!&lt;br /&gt;

	On May 27, 2009, the Katy Independent School District held their annual Technology Showcase in the beautiful Merrill Center. Each school had student and teacher representatives showing off all the cool stuff they did with tech this year. Along with a LOTS of digital storytelling, there were some really exceptional projects where you could easily tell the students poured in a labor of love. Hats off to Katy ISD for promoting this, even though, in general, they block more sites than many communist countries. But that is a story for another day. podcasts that a few St. Laurence teachers have started using &lt;a href="http://www.posterous.com/"&gt;Posterous&lt;/a&gt;. Take a look at them below and

what students are doing. Also, when students know they are performing for a

Weatherbug system to record the current weather and to forecast the weather for
the week. This is a collaborative project between our school and Dr. Green
Elementary School in El Paso.
This is a &amp;#8220;proof of concept&amp;#8221; blog at this point to show how two
classrooms can collaborate and share information. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font face="Tahoma" size="2"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:10.0pt;
font-family:Tahoma"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font face="Tahoma" size="2"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:10.0pt;
font-family:Tahoma"&gt;The last two sites I mentioned are also podcast enabled.
What that means is that you can subscribe to the sites using iTunes. By doing
this, all new episodes will be pushed to iTunes once they are published. This
happens almost automatically. To subscribe to these podcasts, do the following:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
