So, I thought it was time to update my list for 2026. Whether you’re planning a first date, celebrating an anniversary or birthday, or simply want to treat someone special to a lovely evening, here are my top picks for a romantic dinner in Bangkok.

1. Pastel Rooftop Bar & Mediterranean Dining

If you’re looking for somewhere romantic but don’t want the atmosphere to feel too formal, Pastel Rooftop Bar & Mediterranean Dining would be my first choice.

Pastel has that combination I really like in a rooftop restaurant: a beautiful Bangkok skyline view, stylish surroundings, good food and a fun atmosphere.

The best time to arrive has to be around sunset. Start your evening with a cocktail and watch Bangkok slowly change from daylight to a sea of city lights. I think this is what makes rooftop dining in Bangkok so special. Even if you live here, there is something about seeing the city from above that can make an ordinary dinner feel like a special occasion.

I also really like the look and feel of Pastel. It’s elegant and romantic without feeling overly formal. The warm lighting, comfortable seating and open rooftop setting create the kind of atmosphere where you can dress up for a special night out but still relax and enjoy yourself.

And of course, let’s talk about the food!

Pastel specializes in Mediterranean cuisine, and many of the dishes are made for sharing -which, as a Thai, I absolutely love!

In Thailand, we rarely order one dish just for ourselves. We put everything in the middle of the table and share, so everyone gets to try a little bit of everything.

And did you know that sharing food can actually make us feel closer? Research suggests that eating and sharing food together can strengthen our connection. So sharing a few delicious dishes with your date might just make the evening even more romantic.

There are plenty of tempting choices on the menu, including Royal Lobster Pasta, Truffle Pappardelle, Black Opal Wagyu Ribeye, and Truffle Farm Chicken. 

And please save some room for dessert! There’s Chocolate Lava Cake (my personal favourite!), Strawberry Panna Cotta and Pastel Chocolate Mousse. They all look like a very good way to finish a romantic dinner.

But what makes Pastel worth choosing when Bangkok already has so many rooftop bars and restaurants?

For me, it’s the combination of everything in one place. It’s special enough for a romantic date or celebration, but still relaxed and fun rather than overly formal. And your evening doesn’t have to end when dinner is finished. As it gets later, the atmosphere becomes livelier, so you can stay for cocktails and music and enjoy the rest of the night together.

So, if you’re looking for a romantic rooftop restaurant in Bangkok where you can enjoy sunset views, share good food, have a few cocktails and make a whole evening of it, Pastel is definitely one to add to your list.

2. Clara

If your idea of romance is somewhere quiet, intimate and a little bit hidden away from the busy streets of Bangkok, Clara would be high on my list.

Unlike the rooftop restaurants Bangkok is famous for, Clara’s charm comes from being tucked away in a peaceful residential area of Yen Akat. From the moment you walk along the beautifully lit garden entrance, it already feels like you’ve escaped the city for the evening.

And I think that’s part of what makes it such a lovely place for a date. It’s elegant and sophisticated, but it also feels very personal. There are candlelit tables, a beautiful garden and an outdoor lounge where you can have a drink after dinner. It’s the kind of restaurant where you can actually slow down, talk and enjoy spending the evening together.

Clara is also one of the more special-occasion restaurants on this list. It’s listed in the MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2026, and its cuisine is rooted in Italian cooking with subtle Japanese influences.

What about the food?

You can go for the full experience with either a six- or eight-course tasting menu, but Clara also offers à la carte dining.

The menu changes seasonally, but you can expect beautifully presented dishes such as homemade pasta, seafood, Wagyu beef and some more unusual combinations that make dinner feel like an experience rather than simply going out for a meal.

For me, Clara would be the restaurant I’d recommend if a friend said, “It’s our anniversary and I want to take my partner somewhere really special.”

It doesn’t rely on a huge skyline view to create romance. Instead, it’s the garden, candlelight, beautiful food and intimate atmosphere that make it feel special.

Opening hours: Monday–Friday 5:00–11:00 p.m.; Saturday lunch 12:00–3:00 p.m. and dinner 6:00–11:00 p.m.; closed Sunday.
Tip: If you’re celebrating an anniversary or birthday, I would mention it when booking. And if the weather is nice, leave yourself some time to enjoy a drink in the garden lounge after dinner.

3. Scarlett Wine Bar & Restaurant

If you love the idea of a rooftop date but want something a little more classic and grown-up, Scarlett Wine Bar & Restaurant is another Bangkok favourite I’d recommend.

Scarlett sits on the 37th floor of Pullman Bangkok Hotel G in Silom, so you get those gorgeous panoramic Bangkok views, but the atmosphere is quite different from some of the city’s bigger rooftop bars.

It feels sophisticated without being stiff.

There is an open-air terrace for those beautiful city views, but you can also sit inside if Bangkok’s weather isn’t cooperating with your romantic plans.

For me, Scarlett is particularly good for couples who enjoy wine. The restaurant is very much a wine bar as well as a restaurant, with French-inspired food, cocktails and an extensive wine selection.

What should you eat?

This is somewhere I would come hungry.

The menu has a strong French influence, with charcuterie and cheese, seafood, small plates and dry-aged steaks. Some of the smaller dishes are designed for sharing too, which makes it easy to order several things for the table rather than committing to one dish each.

And steak + wine + Bangkok skyline?

That’s already a pretty good recipe for date night in my book.

What I particularly like about Scarlett for this list is that it gives you the rooftop experience without making the view the only reason to go. You could come here for sunset drinks, but you can also settle in for a proper dinner and bottle of wine.

It’s romantic, but in a very relaxed way — the kind of place I’d recommend for an anniversary, birthday or simply a Friday night when you both feel like dressing up and going somewhere nice.

Tip: Ask for a terrace table if the weather looks good and try to arrive before sunset. If you and your date are wine lovers, give yourself time to explore the wine list rather than rushing through dinner.

4. Bisou Bangkok

Now, if you want your date night to feel a little more sexy, this is the one.

Even Bisou describes itself as “simple & sexy”, which tells you quite a lot about what they’re going for!

Bisou Bangkok is a modern French restaurant hidden away on Soi Langsuan. Rather than being formal, traditional French fine dining, it has a much more contemporary and playful personality. It’s stylish, intimate and a little moody — exactly the sort of atmosphere that works beautifully for a date.

The restaurant only has around 60 seats, so it feels relatively intimate too. And in 2026, Bisou is listed in the MICHELIN Guide Thailand.

The food is made for sharing

This is another reason Bisou makes my romantic restaurant list.

A lot of the menu is designed to be shared, so you can order several dishes and try everything together. As I mentioned earlier, that’s naturally how I love to eat anyway!

The food is modern French, but don’t expect every dish to feel traditional. You’ll find things like Black Truffle French Toast, Wagyu Beef Tartare, Crab Roll with French Toast and Beurre Blanc, alongside wood-fired dry-aged steaks, lobster and pasta.

There are also some dishes that are just fun to order on a date. Sharing a beautiful steak, trying several little plates, opening a bottle of wine and slowly working your way through dinner feels much more sociable than ordering one main course each and leaving an hour later.

Bisou is probably the restaurant on this list I’d recommend for a couple who loves food but doesn’t necessarily want traditional fine dining.

You still get beautiful food and excellent service, but there’s personality to it.

Location: Bisou Bangkok, 68/9 Soi Langsuan, Lumphini, Pathum Wan, Bangkok
Opening hours: Daily, 5:30 p.m.–midnight; last food order at 11:00 p.m.
Tip: Bisou is quite intimate and weekends can fill up, so I wouldn’t leave your reservation until the last minute. And definitely order a few dishes to share — that’s part of the fun here.

5. Cento

And finally, we have Cento — my pick for couples who want a romantic dinner without making the evening feel like a big formal occasion.

Sometimes the best date nights aren’t about white tablecloths, tasting menus and getting dressed up. Sometimes you just want really good Italian food, a nice bottle of wine and somewhere you can sit for a few hours talking.

That’s where I think Cento fits perfectly.

Located in Sala Daeng, Cento describes itself as a “hospitality house”, and I really like that idea. The whole concept is about uncomplicated Italian food, good ingredients and making people feel at home rather than creating an overly formal dining experience.

It’s cool, stylish and intimate, but also relaxed.

Basically, this is where I’d send friends who told me, “We want somewhere nice for date night, but please don’t send us somewhere stuffy!”

Come hungry and share everything

Cento serves what it calls “mostly Italian” food, and this is definitely another menu where I would order several things for the table.

You might start with beef carpaccio, burrata or hamachi crudo, move on to pasta such as pici with crab and lemon butter, linguine with clams and tiger prawns, or black truffle raviolo, and then share something larger from the grill.

If you’re really hungry, there are also larger dishes designed for sharing, including salt-baked seabass, suckling pig and Bistecca alla Fiorentina.

And I wouldn’t skip dessert.

There’s lemon tart, chocolate mousse, Basque cheesecake and, because we’re talking about an Italian restaurant, of course there’s tiramisu. The menu changes regularly, though, so don’t become too emotionally attached to one dish before you arrive!

Cento also has more than 200 wine labels, with a particular focus on Italian and Old World wines, plus classic Italian cocktails. So if your perfect date night involves pasta, wine and staying at the table much longer than you originally planned, this could be your place.

And that’s really why Cento makes my list.

It’s romantic without trying too hard to be romantic. There isn’t a huge rooftop view or an elaborate tasting-menu ceremony. It’s simply good food, wine, a warm atmosphere and someone you enjoy sharing it all with.

Sometimes that’s all you need.

Location: Cento, 120 Soi Sala Daeng 1/1, Silom, Bang Rak, Bangkok
Opening hours: Daily, 5:30 p.m.–midnight.
Tip: Don’t order everything at once! I’d start with a couple of smaller dishes, share a pasta and then decide whether you still have room for something from the grill. And definitely leave room for dessert.

Let me also add my all-time favourite Italian restaurant to this list, I discovered this place on my birthday in 2013.  Enoteca Italiana is tucked away at the end of quiet Sukhumvit 27. On the way to the restaurant I thought ‘did I come to wrong street?’, there are just houses and pretty dark comparing to other sois in Sukhumvit. When I reached the white wall with lights, I was surprised to see that there was such a lovely gem hidden in this quiet corner.

The restaurant is set in a one storey renovated house with a well-maintained lawn. I also like the fact that this place has high ceiling with floor-to-ceiling arched glass windows,and a polished wooden floor , it makes the place feel airy. They also put a wall of wines on one side of the barnlike room offering visitors more than 300 only Italian wine’s lables. What a charming little place!

As for the food, the chef’s creation is pure magic. The restaurant offers dishes you won’t find elsewhere in the city ‒ not fusion, not pizza, but authentic traditional dishes. I still remember my first meal here, I ordered the 4 course degustation which all dishes were a surprise. They were Black Ink Cappuccino (I recommend!), Ravioli filled with Foie Gras with Black Truffle, Salmon with artichokes and the dessert was Macadamia ice-cream with chocolate sauce. It was memorable dining experience.

If you would like to have authentic Italian food in a romantic setting, this place is just perfect for you.

How do you say “Please forgive me” in Thai?

“Forgive” in Thai is ยกโทษ /yók-tôot/.

To use ยกโทษ /yók-tôot/ in a sentence, you need to add “ให้ /hâi/“.

Sentence structure:

“to forgive someone” in Thai is ยกโทษ/yók-tôot/ + ให้ /hâi/ + someone

Examples:

Please forgive me = ยกโทษให้ผมนะ /yók-tôot hâi pŏm ná/

I forgave you. = ผมยกโทษให้คุณ /pŏm yók-tôot hâi kun/

I forgave her. = ผมยกโทษให้เขา /pŏm yók-tôot hâi káo/

My American student who has been having private Thai lessons with me for the past 5 years just proposed to his Thai girlfriend with a flash mob dance in Robinson shopping mall in Sakhon Nakhon. This event inspired me to create this Thai lesson to help you pop the question like a native Thai.

First, let’s learn the vocabulary.

“To marry” in Thai is แต่งงาน /dtàeng-ngaan/

“Will you marry me?” can translate to คุณจะแต่งงานกับผมไหม /kun jà dtàeng-ngaan gàp pŏm mái/. However this sentence doesn’t sound gentle and romantic, Thai people prefer to propose by make it sound like a sweet invitation.

แต่งงานกันนะ /dtàeng-ngaan gan ná/

The particle นะ /ná/ in this sentence indicates an invitation, similarly to English “Let’s get married”.

แต่งงานกันไหม /dtàeng-ngaan gan mái/ is another common way to propose to your Thai loved one.

And to say “YES” to the question, you can simply say “แต่ง /dtàeng/” or “โอเค OK” follow by a polite particle ครับ /kráp/ or ค่ะ /kâ/

แหวนหมั้น /wăen mân/ = engagement ring

แต่งงาน /dtàeng-ngaan/ = to marry

My family and I hiked into the jungle last Saturday, we cookd rice in bamboo tubes for lunch using all natural matrials. I took this opportunity to create a mini vlog with Thai listening exercise for you to learn Thai.

Let’s learn how to cook rice in a bamboo tube.

มดกับครอบครัวเดินเข้าป่าไปกินข้าวเที่ยง

/Mod gàp krâwp-krua dern kâo bpàa bpai gin kâao-tîang/

My family and I went into the jungle for lunch.

เราเดิน 2 กิโลเมตร

/rao dern 2 gì-loo-mêet/

We walked for two kilometers.

เราตัดใบไม้มาทำเป็นเสื่อปูนั่งกินข้าว

/rao dtàt bai-máai maa tam bpen sùea bpuu nâng gin kâao/

We cut some leaves to make a mat for sitting.

Let’s start cooking rice.

ขั้นตอนที่ 1: ใส่ข้าวสาร 3 ช้อนโต๊ะในใบเร็ดแล้วก็ห่อค่ะ

/kân-dtawn tîi 1: sài kâao-săan 3 cháwn-dtó nai bai rét, láew-gâw hàw kâ/

Step 1: add 3 tablespoons of uncooked rice in the Ret leaf, and wrap it.

ห่อข้าวเสร็จแล้วก็เอาข้าว 2 ห่อใส่ในกระบอกไม้ไผ่

/hàw kâao sèt láew gâw ao kâao 2 hàw sài nai grà-bàwk máai-pài/

Once you finish wrapping rice, then put 2 wrapped leaves inside the tube.

ถึงตาเด็กๆลองทำดูบ้างค่ะ

/tŭeng dtaa dèk-dèk lawng tam duu bâang kâ/

Now it’s the kids’ turn to try it.

เป็นการเรียนรู้การใช้ชีวิตในธรรมชาติ

/bpen gaan rian-rúu gaan chái chii-wít nai tam-má-châat/

It is a lesson to live in nature.

ต่อไป ขั้นตอนที่ 2 : เติมน้ำลงในกระบอกไม้ไผ่ค่ะ

Next, step 2: add water in the bamboo tube.

Step 3: put the bamboo tubes next to the fire.

ใช้เวลาหุงข้าวประมาณ 30-40 นาทีค่ะ

/chái way-laa hŭng kâao bprà-maan 30-40 naa-tii kâ/

It takes about 30-40 minutes to cook rice.

ข้าวใกล้จะสุกแล้วค่ะ

/kâao glâi jà sùk láew kâ/

The rice is nearly cooked.

เทน้ำออกนิดนึง

/tay náam àwk nít-nueng/

Pour water away a little bit.

ตอนนี้ข้าวสุกแล้วค่ะ

Now the rice is cooked.

Cut the bamboo tube open.

1. Little : A. เล็ก /lék/ or น้อย /náwi/
   She works hard, but earns just a little.
   เขาทำงานหนักแต่ได้เงิน________
   káo tam-ngaan nàk, dtàe dâai ngern________

She is just a little girl, but she has to work hard.

เขาเป็นแค่ผู้หญิง_______ แต่ต้องทำงานหนัก

káo bpen pûu-yĭng _______, dtàe dtâwng tam-ngaan nàk

2. A lot: A. เยอะ /yér/ or มาก /mâak/

We ate a lot of rice in Thailand.

เรากินข้าว________ที่ประเทศไทย

rao gin kâao yér tîi bprà-têet tai

This song is good. I like it a lot.

เพลงนี้เพราะ ฉันชอบ________

pleeng níi pró, chán châwp________

3. Hard: หนัก /nàk/ or ยาก /yâak/

He works hard for his children.

เขาทำงาน________เพื่อลูก

káo tam-ngaan ________ pûea lûuk

Learning a new language is hard.

เรียนภาษาไทยใหม่________

rian paa-săa mài________

The pattern you need for “I am sorry for….” is ขอโทษ/kăw-tôot/ + ที่ /tîi/ + a reason

I’m sorry for being late.

I’m sorry for making you feel bad.

I’m sorry for disturbing you.

There are five words in Thai that translate “just/only”, so Many Thai language learners are often confused how to use each one. Watch this lesson to clarify the confusion you might have and speak Thai correctly like a native.

The 5 words for “just/only” in Thai are;

1. แค่ /kâe/
2. เอง /eeng/
3. แต่ /dtàe/
4. เพียง /piang/
5. เท่านั้น /tâo-nán/

Have a look at the sentence examples of each word.

1. แค่ /kâe/

เสื้อตัวนี้แค่ 200 บาท

/sûea dtua níi kâae 200 bàat/

This shirt is just 200 Baht.

เค้าเป็นแค่คนรู้จัก

/káo bpen kâae kon róo-jàk/

He / she is just someone who I know.

เค้าเป็นแค่เพื่อน

/káo bpen kâae pûean/

He/she is just a friend.

2. เอง /eeng/

แค่ 10 บาทเอง

/kâae 10 bàat eeng/

10 โมงเอง

/10 moong eeng/

It’s only 10 A.M.

3. แต่ /dtàae/

เค้าทำแต่งาน

/káo tam dtàae ngaan/

He does only work.

ลูกชายดูแต่ทีวี

/lôok-chaai doo dtàae tii-wii/

My son only watches TV.

4. เพียง /piang/

เพียง 2 ล้านบาท

/piang 2 láan bàat/

Only 2 million Baht.

เพียง 15 ล้านบาท

piang 15 láan Baht.

Only 15 million Baht.

5. เท่านั้น /tâo-nán/

วันนี้เท่านั้น

/wan-níi tâo-nán/

Today only!

พนักงานเท่านั้น

/pá-nák-ngaan tâo-nán/

Staff only!

In this lesson, I’ll show you how to STOP using “มาก mâak” for VERY  & upgrade your Thai vocabulary. By avoiding this one little word as much as you can, you’ll be forced to get more creative and activate other more interesting & impressive Thai words instead!

Intensify like a Native Thai

1. Very sweet

หวาน /wǎan/ = sweet

เจี๊ยบ /jíab/ = very

หวานเจี๊ยบ /wǎan jíab/ = very sweet

เค้กชิ้นนี้หวานเจี๊ยบ /Cake chín níi wǎan jíab/

This cake is very sweet.

2. Very sour

เปรี้ยว /bprîao/ = Sour

จี๊ด  /jíid/ = very

เปรี้ยวจี๊ด /bprîao jíid/ = very sour

ส้มตำเปรี้ยวจี๊ด /sôm-dtam bprîao jíid/

Papaya salad is very sour.

3. Very salty

เค็ม /kem/ = Salty

ปี๋ /bpǐi/ = very

เค็มปี๋ /kem bpǐi/ = very salty

น้ำปลาเค็มปี๋ /náam-bplaa kem bpǐi/

Fish sauce is very salty.

4. Very bitter

ขม /kǒm/ Bitter

ปี๋ /bpǐi/ = very

ขมปี๋ /kǒm bpǐi/ = very bitter

ยาเม็ดนี้ขมปี๋

/yaa méd níi kǒm bpǐi/

This pill is very bitter.

5. So white

ขาว/ kǎao/ = White

จั๊วะ /júa/ = very

ขาวจั๊วะ /kǎao júa/ = so white

ผู้หญิงคนนี้ขาวจั๊วะ /pûu-yǐng kon níi kǎao júa/

This woman’s skin is so white.

*For Thai people, this is a compliment.

6. Bright red

แดง /daaeng/ = Red

แจ๊ด /jáaed/ = very

แดงแจ๊ด /daaeng jáaed/ = So red

เค้าทาลิปสีแดงแจ๊ด

/káo taa líp sǐi daaeng jáaed/

She is wearing a bright red lipstick.

7. So green

เขียว /Kǐaow/ = Green

ปี๋ /bpǐi/ = very

ครูแพรทาเล็บสีเขียวปี๋ /Kruu Pear taa lép sǐi kǐaw bpǐi/

Teacher Pear painted her so green.

8. Very yellow

เหลือง / lŭeang/ = Yellow

อ๋อย /ǒoi/ = very

เค้าใส่เสื้อสีเหลืองอ๋อย /káo sài sûa sǐi lŭeang ǒoi/

She/He is wearing a very bright yellow shirt.

9. Pitch black

ดำ /dam/ = Black

ปี๋ /bpǐi/ = very

ผมของแอนนาสีดำปี๋ /pǒm kǒng Anna sǐi dam bpǐi/

Anna’s hair is pitch black.

10. สว่างจ้า /sa-wàang jâa/

Super bright.

11. มืดตึ๊ดตื๊อ /mûed dtúed-dtǔue/

Super dark.

➤ Practice your Thai listening skills:

When you’re practising your listening skills, slow down the speed of the video. This gives you a little more time and space to help hear the sounds that I’m making and then connect them to the words that you recognise. Slowing down the speed is not cheating, it’s a really great way to start hearing the sounds and recognising words as they’re spoken and listening to common patterns in Thai. Then at any time you can speed it back up to natural pace and hear it as a native speaker would say it.

➤ Actively listen: If you want to improve your listening skills, you need to do more than just listen. You need to be actively listening, right? To do that, the best thing you can do is have a goal. Set a specific goal or a challenge that you need to accomplish through the listening practice.

You could challenge yourself to recognise ten new words from the lesson and write them down as you’re listening to them.

Teacher Pear selected five Thai quotes she found on her friends’ Facebook, these phrases are widely shared on Thai social media. You will learn how Thais play with words to form metaphors and similes.

1.ถ้าเบื่อเขา ก็ไปทะเลกับเรานะ

/tâa buèa kǎo, gâw bpai tá-lay gàb rao ná/

Meaning 1: If you get bored of the mountains, you can go to the sea with me.

Meaning 2: If you get bored of him/her, you can go to the sea with me.

2.ผมสั้นดูแลง่าย แต่มัดใจใครไม่อยู่

/pǒm sân duu-laae ngâai, dtàae mád jai krai mâi yùu/

Short hair is easy to take care of, but it can’t be used to tie someone’s heart (can’t win someone’s heart).

3.พยายามหาแคปชั่นเด็ด แต่ลืมว่าตัวเองเด็ดกว่าแคปชั่น

/pá-yaa-yaam hǎa caption dèd, dtàae luem wâa dtua-aeng dèd gwàa caption/

I’m trying to find a cool caption, but I forgot that I am cooler than the caption.

4.ผู้ชายเจ้าชู้ เหมือนมาม่า ดูดีตอนโฆษณา แต่คุณค่าทางโภชนาการต่ำ

/pûu-chaai jâo-chúu mŭean Maa-mâa, duu dii dtawn kôod-sà-naa , dtàae kun-kâa taang pôod-chá-naa-gaan dtàm/

Players are like Mama noodles, looks good on the ads but the nutrients are low.

5.อบอุ่นกว่าพี่ก็มีแต่ไมโครเวฟ

/òb-ùn gwàa pîi gâw mii dtàae microwave /

(If there is) something that is warmer, then it is only a microwave.
