I am delighted to announce details of the launch of my very first solo exhibition in Milan during the Salone del Mobile this April. The exhibition is called 'Public House' and will showcase all my favorite pieces I have designed for myself and other brands over the past 5 years. There will also be a few new editions to existing pieces as well as a brand new light fitting which will also launch at the show.

As well as this I will be debuting a new collaboration with renowned international Scotch whisky, Ballantine’s 12 Year Old. I have designed an exclusive bottle and serving ritual for the brand, influenced by vintage crystal whisky decanters with a very modern twist to be exclusively launched at the exhibition.

As this is my first solo show in Milan, I wanted to showcase all of this work in a quintessentially British environment, so what better way than create my very own Public House! We will be literally be transporting remnants from an old London Boozer to Milan creating an experience which visitors to the show could usually only experience in the UK. And although we wont be pulling pints, the atmosphere will certainly be there.

Hope to see you all there in April!

I have been asked by one of my all time favorite publications i-D Magazine to provide some furniture and lighting pieces to accompany an exhibition showcasing all of their covers from the past three decades. The exhibition entitled i-D Now takes place at The Red Gallery on Rivington St in Shoreditch just a few doors up from Lee Broom HQ . It will give fans the opportunity to retrace the magazines history from its humble beginnings as a stapled fanzine, through iconic winks from Madonna, Kate Moss and Lady Gaga to its now multi platformed position at the front of the field. The exhibition runs from from 1st until the 18th September and will offer an exciting programme of events over the course of the three weeks. Be sure to get more info on http://www.i-Donline.com.
brand new collection . . . . 'salon'

For my fifth collection at The London Design Festival, I will be launching my debut upholstery collection entitled 'Salon'.

The collection will consist of six furniture pieces which are a contemporary take on 1930's upholstery. These will be contrasted and accentuated with modern stud detailing traditionally used in upholstery to hide elements of the manufacturing process. I decided to focus on these faceted metal embellishments to give the collection a chic and edgy look. The finished result is a polished, contemporary furniture range that echoes the iconic designs of luxury fashion accessories and punk rock couture!

Also as part of the London Design Festival, I will be dramatically transforming my Shoreditch studio into an exclusive design Salon where visitors can view the furniture range in a surreal and intimate setting. The collection will launch during The London Design Festival, 20th - 25th September 2011 where all the pieces for Salon will be revealed. Until then, click 'read full post' to see other images of the the Salon Arm Chair and Foot stool.

I watched Lady Gaga's video this morning to her new single Edge of Glory and in it she's wearing vintage Versace. I loved Versace when I was a kid and found him so inspiring. So much so I travelled to London on my own one afternoon to visit his newly opened Bond St store. I remember how nice the staff were and they gave me this book which was of his Autumn/Winter 1992 collection, the same Gaga is wearing in the video. Amazing times, amazing clothes.

I have been asked to design the personal shopping suite for Topman in Oxford Circus, London. This will be the first of it's kind and will also feature many of my products from many of my collections. It's an exciting space which will offer personal shopping advice from specialist stylists whom have all worked previously for luxury brands such as Westwood and Prada. With this in mind the look I have created for the space is a modern take on a Gentlemen's Club. Lots of moving wall panels to display the clothes with splashes of polished gold and parquet wood. Cant wait for the space to launch on 25th May.

I have recently designed a limited edition vase exclusively for the Shop at Savoy which is to be launched for April. The vase is to be showcased along side their new collection of exclusive products which have been selected by fashion retail consultant Yasmin Sewell. The piece I have created is a vessel called ‘One Vase Only’. The vase has been inspired by both the Art Deco style of The Savoy Hotel as well as my faceted One Light Only lighting collection, launched during London Design Week 2010. Each vase is made with handcrafted Marquetry techniques in high gloss American Walnut and polished brass. Each vase is part of a limited edition of 50. The image above is a visual, I will post the real deal soon.

Last week I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Michelle Ogundehin, Editor-in-Cheif of ELLE Decoration for London Design Week at the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour. Over 100 people bought tickets to hear us chat about design in Britain and my work in general.....so no pressure! It was a lot of fun and Michelle is an absolute pleasure to chat with and made me feel very much at ease.

I was browsing through youtube the other day and ended up checking out some classic Madge performances from over the years. I have always been a Madonna fan and this has to be one of my fav performances of hers at The Oscars in 1991! Check out the understated exit....

This is a visual for the new Decanterlamp to be sold in the Lee Broom store at The Shop at Bluebird from 8th Feb. Its a very different take on the Decanter range. For this piece wine and port decanters were piled up to form an elegant lamp base in either a transparent or white lacquered finish. The lamps are topped with either a white or cool grey shade. The image above shows the white version, please click on 'read full post' to see the transparent version. Both of these lamps are to be sold exclusively at The Shop at Bluebird for the duration of the collaboration.

I am thrilled to announce the launch of the first ever Lee Broom store within The Shop at Bluebird on Kings Road. I have been a massive fan of The Shop of Bluebird since I was studying fashion at Central Saint Martins so I'm delighted to have been asked by head buyer Paul Babtiste to launch this exciting collaboration on 8th February. The Shop at Bluebird especially loved my Decanterlight range so to celebrate this launch I have designed a new colour way exclusively for the store. As well as this I will also be launching a brand new Decanter product called 'The Decanterlamp'. This will also be exclusive to The Shop at Bluebird for the duration of the collaboration. I will post some images of The Decanterlamp shortly. Many of the pieces from all my collections including Heritage Boy and One Light Only will be available for sale at the store.

For press enquiries for this launch please contact Katie Richardson at katie@leebroom.com

So I have been slightly hopeless at posting stuff over the past couple of months as life has been a little hectic. These images are from the bash I threw at my Shoreditch studio to celebrate winning my two Elle Decoration awards and also my birthday, they should have really been posted last November so apologies for the delay (slap wrists, will try harder next time). The main pic is of me with my mum and my Auntie Carol......the guests of honour!
