I loved having this new little family in my studio for his newborn photos – it was an honor! You’re adorable little baby B!

Their September celebration included three distinctly Pittsburgh locations: The Industrialist Hotel, St. Paul Cathedral and The Pump House at Rivers of Steel.

Getting Ready at The Industrialist Hotel

Angela began her wedding day at The Industrialist Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. The hotel’s sophisticated design and historic character created a beautiful setting for her final preparations before traveling to the ceremony.

With a smaller guest list and a thoughtful schedule, the morning felt relaxed and personal. These quieter parts of a wedding day often create some of my favorite photographs, especially as the excitement begins to build before the ceremony.

A St. Paul Cathedral Wedding Ceremony

Angela and Qasim were married at St. Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh. The grandeur of the cathedral provided a beautiful contrast to the intimate size of their celebration.

St. Paul Cathedral is one of Pittsburgh’s most recognizable churches and the Mother Church of the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Its soaring architecture and sacred atmosphere make it an unforgettable location for a traditional Catholic wedding ceremony.

After the ceremony and family photographs, everyone traveled to Homestead for the reception.

A Reception at The Pump House at Rivers of Steel

Angela and Qasim held their reception at The Pump House at Rivers of Steel. Located along the Monongahela River, this historic Pittsburgh wedding venue features exposed brick, arched windows and original wooden plank floors.

The Pump House was constructed by the Carnegie Steel Company in 1892 and was once part of the U.S. Steel Homestead Works. Today, it offers couples a wedding venue filled with authentic Pittsburgh history and industrial character.

For Angela and Qasim, it was a fitting place to welcome their loved ones. Their small celebration allowed them to spend meaningful time with each guest while still enjoying the energy of a traditional wedding reception.

The venue also offers plenty of visual variety for photographs. Its brick exterior, riverfront setting, surrounding greenery and nearby industrial features create a mix of natural and architectural backgrounds without requiring extensive travel.

Planning an Intimate Pittsburgh Wedding

This wedding was a wonderful reminder that a celebration does not need a large guest count to feel complete. Angela and Qasim brought together approximately 50 of the people closest to them for a day that honored their relationship, Angela’s Pittsburgh roots and the life they have created together abroad.

Their wedding was thoughtfully planned by Cheers Darling Events, who coordinated the different locations and details throughout the day.

The Pump House Wedding Photographer

The Pump House is an excellent choice for couples who want a Pittsburgh wedding venue with genuine history, exposed brick and a relaxed riverfront setting. It feels unmistakably connected to the city while giving couples the flexibility to create a celebration that feels entirely their own.

If you are planning a wedding at The Pump House, St. Paul Cathedral or another historic Pittsburgh venue, I would love to hear what you are envisioning for your day.

A hurricane had moved through the East Coast just the day before their wedding, leaving us with plenty of rain to work around. But the weather never took away from the day. Instead, we embraced it, adjusted where we needed to, and created wedding photographs that still felt elegant, romantic, and completely true to Katie and Garrett.

And as an extra-special ending to this beautiful wedding, one of their photographs was later selected for the cover of WHIRL Magazine!

A Fall Wedding at Sewickley Quarter

Located in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Sewickley Quarter was such a beautiful setting for Katie and Garrett’s October wedding. The venue has an intimate, elevated feel that works wonderfully for couples who want a sophisticated celebration without leaving the Pittsburgh area.

October weddings in Pittsburgh can bring just about any kind of weather, and this one certainly proved it! With the remnants of a hurricane having passed through the East Coast the previous day, we knew we needed to be flexible with portraits and the timeline.

Rainy wedding days aren’t something to panic about. With an experienced team and a willingness to adjust, there are still so many opportunities to create beautiful photographs. The softer light and rich fall tones surrounding Sewickley actually gave this wedding its own romantic atmosphere.

Including Their Wiener Dog in Their Wedding Day

One of my favorite personal touches was Katie and Garrett’s decision to include their wiener dog in the wedding.

I always love when couples find ways to incorporate their pets because they are genuinely part of the family. It also creates some of the most natural moments of the day. Their pup added plenty of personality to the photographs and made the celebration feel even more like them.

Those little personal details are often what I remember most about a wedding years later.

An Elegant Sewickley Quarter Reception

Inside Sewickley Quarter, the celebration felt warm and inviting — especially with the rainy October weather outside.

Karrie Hlista Designs created the florals for the wedding, while Sewickley Quarter provided the linens that helped bring the reception design together. The overall look felt polished and classic while still fitting beautifully with the season.

Katie wore a gown by Made With Love Bridal, purchased through Blanc de Blanc Bridal, with hair by JuLea Beauty Bar and jewelry from Orr’s.

Once the formalities were finished, Fireside Events kept the celebration going and the dance floor busy.

A Sewickley Quarter Wedding Featured on the Cover of WHIRL Magazine

One of the most exciting parts of Katie and Garrett’s wedding came afterward when an image from their day was selected for the cover of WHIRL Magazine.

As a Pittsburgh wedding photographer, having one of my photographs chosen for a magazine cover is always an incredible honor — but it’s even more meaningful when the photograph comes from a wedding day like this one.

We didn’t have perfect weather. We had rain, the aftermath of a hurricane, and all of the adjustments that come with photographing an October wedding in Western Pennsylvania.

And we still created something cover-worthy.

That’s one of the reasons I always encourage couples not to let the forecast define how they feel about their wedding day.

Rainy Wedding Photography at Sewickley Quarter

If you’re planning a Sewickley Quarter wedding, especially during the fall, it’s worth having a photography plan that can adapt to Pittsburgh’s unpredictable weather.

Rain doesn’t mean you’ll miss out on beautiful wedding portraits. It simply changes how and where we create them. Covered areas, indoor spaces, umbrellas, breaks in the weather, and soft window light can all become part of the plan.

Katie and Garrett’s wedding is one of my favorite examples of why flexibility matters. The weather wasn’t what anyone would have ordered, but their photographs still feel timeless, joyful, and completely representative of their day.

Katie and Garrett’s wedding will always stand out to me — from their sweet pup and gorgeous fall details to navigating a very rainy October day and ultimately seeing one of their wedding photographs on the cover of WHIRL Magazine.

If you’re planning a wedding at Sewickley Quarter and looking for a Pittsburgh wedding photographer who knows how to create beautiful photographs even when Western Pennsylvania weather doesn’t cooperate, I’d love to hear what you’re planning.

We wanted their session to feel like them hanging out – but elevated. Some fun poses mixed with some casual laughter, and I think we nailed it. I loved the challenge of working somewhere new!! After we photographed them inside of the wine bar, we headed right down the street to the front gate of the Allegheny Cemetery and photographed them with the architecture and iron gates.

Coming into this session I was a little nervous about the challenge, but I love something that sparks creativity and forces me outside of my comfort zone!

I loved that Jenn wore a light mocha beaded dress and wore her hair in her beautiful curls. Kevin was super easy to work with, and we made sure to get great portraits of them at the Grand Resort Spa, since the building is really pretty and makes a great photography backdrop for any wedding at The Grand Resort. The Avalon Golf Course was also a great second background for their wedding photos, and they were able to quickly get to their reception to party with friends and family.

Thank you for having me! I’m looking forward to putting together a wonderful wedding album for you to remember the day!

They traveled to the studio from their home in nearby West Virginia, and I’m so thankful that they did – it turned out to be just a stunning session. Looking forward to their wedding in October, and getting lots of mother/daughter getting-ready photos!

However, it should be noted – when Lindsay got here she said “I’m not sure my outfit matches the vibe of the field… but it’s OK”, so knowing that I edited a little more ‘dreamy’ and ‘creamy’, and her outfit blended right in. All it takes is some communication and I can usually create the session of your dreams!

Looking for a beautiful family photo session at studio property, no matter what area of Pittsburgh you’re coming from we can create a gorgeous gallery!

There’s something special about a St. Clair Country Club wedding in late spring. With everything in full bloom, warm sunshine, and lush greens across the golf course, it’s easy to see why this iconic South Hills Pittsburgh wedding venue is such a favorite for couples.

Alexa and Aaron’s wedding at St. Clair Country Club was the perfect way to celebrate the end of May. From their elegant outdoor ceremony to an unforgettable fireworks display at the end of the night, every part of the day was filled with joy, laughter, and thoughtful details. As a Pittsburgh wedding photographer, it’s always exciting to return to this beautiful venue, and this day reminded me exactly why I love photographing weddings here.

An Elegant Outdoor Ceremony at St. Clair Country Club

One of my favorite parts of the day was the ceremony held beneath the venue’s outdoor tent. It offers the perfect combination of being outdoors while still providing shade and protection if the weather changes. The natural surroundings create such a beautiful backdrop for exchanging vows, and the soft light under the tent photographs beautifully throughout the ceremony.

Late May is one of my favorite times of year for weddings because everything feels fresh and vibrant. The landscaping around the club was absolutely gorgeous, giving us endless opportunities for portraits throughout the property.

Wedding Portraits Around the Golf Course

St. Clair Country Club offers so many wonderful portrait locations. The rolling golf course, mature trees, elegant clubhouse, and beautifully maintained grounds provide timeless backgrounds that never go out of style.

The evening light during Alexa and Aaron’s portraits was absolutely beautiful. We were able to take advantage of the golden hour before heading into an incredible reception celebration.

A Reception Full of Great Food, Familiar Faces, and Sparklers

One of the things I always appreciate about photographing weddings at St. Clair Country Club is how incredibly well the staff treats everyone involved. Their hospitality extends beyond the couple and guests—they genuinely take wonderful care of every vendor working the wedding. The vendor meal was absolutely delicious, and everyone on the St. Clair team was kind, organized, and professional throughout the entire day. It truly makes such a difference when everyone works together so seamlessly.

Another unexpected highlight was running into several past couples and parents whose weddings I’ve photographed over the years. One of my favorite parts of being a wedding photographer is watching families grow and reconnecting with them at future celebrations. Seeing familiar faces throughout the evening made the day feel even more meaningful.

Then came one of the most memorable moments of the night—the sparklers. They were the perfect surprise ending to an already incredible celebration and created such a magical atmosphere for everyone attending. It was a spectacular way to wrap up an unforgettable wedding day.

Why I Love Photographing St. Clair Country Club Weddings

If you’re planning a St. Clair Country Club wedding, you’ll quickly discover why it’s considered one of the premier wedding venues in Pittsburgh’s South Hills. Between the beautiful ceremony spaces, elegant reception rooms, exceptional service, and scenic golf course, it’s a venue that offers everything couples need for a timeless wedding day.

As an experienced St. Clair Country Club wedding photographer, I always look forward to returning because every season offers something unique, and the staff consistently creates an exceptional experience for couples and vendors alike.

Congratulations again to Alexa and Aaron! Thank you for allowing me to document such an incredible day.

This is a good thing! While I feel like it’s the end of an era with The Renaissance name taking a back seat, this name change brings big updates to the wedding venue and hotel space. The Atterbury is scheduled for renos ASAP, which means new guest rooms, fitness center, lobby lighting, and furniture. The check in area and the restaurant are also going to be brand new, so while everything is changing… it’s stepping it up!

These changes to the Atterbury Hotel will be beautiful.. described as “eclectically modern” by some, it’ll be a gorgeous change to the already iconic Pittsburgh hotel and wedding venue.

Interested in checking out The Atterbury Hotel Pittsburgh? Renos start now, so pop your head in any time to see what’s adjusted. The beautiful staircase? Still as gorgeous. The wedding ballroom overlooking the Allegheny River? Not much changing there except for a refresh. The custom service and high-end appeal of a downtown Pittsburgh hotel wedding venue? Still there 100%

This also means that past images from Renaissance Weddings will still speak volumes to any upcoming events at the new Atterbury Hotel, so check out some of my favorites from previous events. Something to look out for? The name change on the front of the marquee – make sure you look for The Atterbury from now on!
