The Bowling Green (KY) Branch of Edmonton State Bank recently opened and the local Lee Brick and Block location was chosen to supply the masonry materials.Habersham, a brick manufactured by Pine Hall Brick, was selected for the veneer and was complimented by the addition of Rockford Estate Blend, a natural limestone quarried by Indiana Limestone Company.
The architect, BA+ Architecture Associates, also of Bowling Green, used a maroon mortar with the brick and used Old Colonial, from Brixment, as the mortar for the limestone.

This close up shows just how well the mortar selected compliments the brick veneer and gives you a good idea of just how much color and texture you can expect if you use Habersham as the veneer brick on your next project.
The photo above shows just how well the brick and limestone work together to make a beautiful exterior that’s virtually maintenance free, will endure despite being exposed to the elements and will stand the test of time. The photo below is a closeup of the Rockford Estate Blend limestone building veneer and like all the photos used here, you can click on them to enlarge them for a better view.

Product Information

MAXBRIC is a revolutionary concrete masonry product developed to offer designers and owners a strong, durable, timeless, and cost-effective way to provide the appearance of traditional brick veneer. MAXBRIC is a structural and/or veneer Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) manufactured and distributed by LEE Brick + Block and is available in a variety of colors and face textures.

Choose from two face textures and ten distinctive shapes

Each MAXBRIC unit is available in traditional Smooth-Face or Split-Face surface textures. Architects, developers, and owners appreciate the flexibility offered with MAXBRIC and see value in being able to mix and match colors and textures. Unit sizes and shapes are featured on the Unit Availability Chart. These units range from nominal size standard 4 inch, 8 inch, and 12 inch stretcher units to sash and bond beam units. MAXBRIC open core and bond beam units accommodate rebar placement and grouting as required by local building codes. MAXBRIC units also permit the use of integral insulation strategies such as extruded polystyrene (XPS) inserts known in the trade as Styrofoam insulation inserts, loose fill insulation, or foamed-in-place insulation to increase the R-values and take full advantage of concrete masonry’s thermal mass.

Color Availability

MAXBRIC uses the latest technology and state-of-the-art equipment to create stunning and attractive through-the-body colors for its structural and conventional CMU veneer choices. Architects and owners can select from eleven standard colors of which many represent multicolor blends that are setting the standard for high-end concrete masonry veneers. This coupled with the option of different face textures makes for an unrivaled product offering in the marketplace.

Availability and Delivery

MAXBRIC is manufactured and distributed by LEE Brick + Block. Lee operates ten locations across the Commonwealth of Kentucky so MAXBRIC is readily available. LEE Brick + Block prides itself in customer response and satisfaction, so be assured every measure will be taken to deliver MAXBRIC in a timely fashion. Sufficient lead time is required when creating custom colors.

Physical Performance

MAXBRIC units exceed the requirements of ASTM-C90 for compression strength and absorption. The MAXBRIC mix design and raw materials provide the highest quality and is used to resist fading from ultraviolet light and attack by acidic substances. An integral water repellant, MaxGard, is added to the concrete during manufacturing. This system for water repellency includes the requirements of good workmanship (full head and bed joints) and good design details for water resistant walls and proper placement of control joints. We will be adding more details and pictures to the web site over the next few days. Surface sealers are recommended for all types of architectural concrete masonry to assure excellent wall performance.

The brand new location of Monticello Banking Co., in Bowling Green (KY), recently completed their building project and Lee Brick and Block’s local office was honored to be chosen to supply the masonry materials.

The project architect, Dave Gottfried and the general contractor, Stewart-Richey Construction Co. are both from Bowling Green, as is the mason contractor, West Side Masonry.

This gorgeous stone veneer is our own Mountain Stone Products Slate in the Three Inch Stone series.

Brixment’s B-10 buff mortar was used throughout the project, in the stone, as well as in the exterior brick.

The brick was Williamsburg Tudor from Sioux City Brick in the popular Builders Special size. As you can see in this closeup, this brick offers you a tremendous amount of color, texture and character and makes a tremendous combination with the Brixment B-10 buff mortar.

The Williamsburg Tudor’s also work great with the deep, rich colors the Mountain Stone provides in the Three Inch Stone series and especially in the Slate color range.

Even something as plain as the standard bag drop can be made to look appealing, when the attention to detail starts with a great design and ends with fine craftsmanship. Both ends of the spectrum did their jobs well here and it will be an eye-catching detail for years to come.

That same area, under the soft light of dusk and dawn, will make those stops at the bank a pleasant experience. That may well be the most appealing drive-thru ever built.

And lest we forget, that same soft light can be used to highlight a beautiful building material, like the Mountain Stone and create a visual that you’ll not soon forget.

Mountain Stone’s Three Inch Stone series is a popular and versatile building element that gives you the look of quarried limestone for a fraction of the cost.

And last but not least is the sign, usually the last thing built, but the first thing you see. This particular sign used the face brick and the stone in a dazzling combination that will serve Monticello Banking Co. well for many, many years.

If you’d like to learn more about Mountain Stone’s Three Inch Stone series, visit their website or stop by any of the state-wide locations of Lee Brick and Block today.

Here’s a few photos that we hope will give you some ideas for your next hardscape project.

This Crittenden County homeowner used A LOT of Pavestone’s Earth Blend pavers to enhance their driveway.

The Owensboro location of Lee Brick and Block supplied these pavers, along with some Ozark Handcraft Mountain Stone.

This project used the Giant Rectangles, Rectangles and Squares to randomize the pattern.

The segue between the asphalt and concrete paver is virtually seamless, as is the segue between the pavers and the yard, which shows the versatility of concrete pavers.

The next time you’re thinking about a hardscape or landscape project, stop by one of the Kentucky locations of Lee Brick and Block and let one of our sales associates help you pick the right color, the right style and the perfect product.
